Raphel struggled to tie his boots. His shoulders still felt stiff, but he had some range of motion to at least slowly tie up his shoes.

He wore a bandolier with wooden stakes and holy water.

"Augh," he hissed as he tried to put his left arm in his jacket.

Lastly, he strapped a silver-tipped dagger to his waist.

He was ready to visit the little vampire sitting in that godforsaken hole. He checked out his window, and there didn't seem to be any guards patrolling outside the front yard. But, then again, what vampire would walk into a base full of seasoned hunters?

He grinned. That also meant the bishop didn't think to have someone watch his window.

This would be a two-day travel, but if he used his blessing, he should be able to make it there in two hours. No one should notice as long as he was in his room by 10:00 a.m. tomorrow.

The only problem was that using the speed blessing had a price. The longer he used the blessing, the higher the chance he would end up tearing his ligaments. There was a case where one of the hunters had his whole legs torn off from using the speed blessing carelessly.

He shuddered at the thought of his legs flying off.

Raphael patted the vial that was sitting in his inside coat pocket. This was still a prototype that he nabbed while visiting the medical center when he went in for a checkup the other day. It was like using the healing blessing, but the effects shouldn't be as adverse. But, of course, only one in ten seemed to be a success. He just hoped the one he took wasn't a dud.

He took a deep breath. He knew he was taking a risk. But, if it meant killing the vampire queen, then all of this would be worth it.

He could hear Sam and Paul nagging in his ears. 'This is reckless,' they would say.

Raphael knew it was reckless, but he promised to kill her and pray for her afterlife once she told him everything. She would never die if the organization found a vampire that didn't emit the usual scent of rot. She would be experimented on for as long as the abbey existed.

This was not pity.

He did not 'pity' vampires.

"Oh Lord, hear my plea. Defend me from the evil temptation of my mortal skin." A pale blue light glowed from his legs. "Roboro."

This blessing will strengthen his muscles, and hopefully, he will be able to use his legs after using the speed blessing.

"Lord, deliver me to kingdom come, for I was once lost but am now found." Green light emitted from his legs. "Curros."

He felt his body lightened a considerable amount.

He opened his window and double-checked his surrounding to confirm that the coast was clear. Then, he jumped up onto the roof.

Raphael set his eyes on the horizon. He bounced once, then twice, and quick as lightning, he ran and jumped from rooftop to rooftop. The wind howled in his ears as he ran.

With the back of his hand, he wiped away the droplets of sweat from his face.

Raphael was back in front of the dilapidated manor. He walked past the small graveyard where he buried his men and the villagers.

Aside from the small burial site, the manor remained the same.

The rotting door hinge groaned as he pushed forward. The hole in the middle of the stairway was still present. The moon wasn't as bright as the last time he visited. He looked down and saw the pale legs glowing from the moonlight.

He hopped in the hole and landed lightly on his foot.

The woman was lying on the floor. Her long dark hair fanned out behind her like a broken raven's wing.

Raphael's eyes zeroed in on her injuries. It had been two weeks since he had met her. So how were her injuries still not healed?

The once black and blue bruises were green and yellow. She healed at the same rate as humans. He shelved that information to the back of his mind.

He felt slightly perturbed that he still fell asleep within the vampire's attacking range.

"Shit. So, this wasn't a fever dream," Raphael murmured.

The woman's body twitched from his voice.

He couldn't get careless just because she seemed docile when they had first met. His hand rested on the wooden stake.

"Hey. Get up, you monster."

Nothing.

Was she sleeping?

"Hey!" He raised his voice a bit louder.

The woman didn't budge.

Growling in irritation, he shook her shoulder. He didn't have time to waste.

Her head lolled back.

Raphael grimaced. There was blood crusting around her lips. His eyes trailed down to her forearm. There were two distinct punctures in them.

Did she try to bite her arm off?

His heart jumped when the woman's eyes were trained on him. Her eyes were glazed; they didn't have the same sheen as when he first met her.

"What's with you?" He scowled.

"GAAAH!" With a feral scream, the vampire pushed him down. Her lips pressed against the side of his neck.

Raphael quickly withdrew the wooden stake and dug the sharp point in her chest. He was ready to kill her, except she was unbelievably weak.

He admitted that he was surprised by her sudden attack (which meant that he clearly needed more training), but the vampire did nothing once she topped him over. She didn't even try to bite him.

Her lips parted, and her hot breath fanned his cool skin. The warmth ignited a flame in his chest. Her tongue lapped against the side of his neck, and her breast pushed against him. Her hands desperately clung to his shoulders.

A soft breath escaped his lips. Then, raising his hand, he wanted to pull her head towards him and let her lips meld with his.

Raphael jolted out of his sinful thoughts. 'What the hell?' Disgusted, he pushed her away from him, and her body smacked against the stone wall.

He sat up, panting heavily. He stared at the woman – no – the vampire whimpering. Her nightgown was hiked up, and he could see the apex of her thighs.

His gut burned, but the sensation of flames licking up his inside didn't stop there. Instead, it travelled down further and rested at his loins.

"H-hungry...p-please...hungry..."

Her words slowed his heartbeat. The flame that was consuming was doused with the chill of the arctic wind.

Raphael clutched the wooden stake. Murderous intent mingled with self-loathing as he glared at the vampire before him.
