"H-hungry...H-hung...ry..." The vampire acted like a broken record.

She was of no use to him right now.

Raphael sighed. He put away his wooden stake and drew his dagger instead.

"You're like the rest of them," he said. He was sure the vampire couldn't register any of his words in her hungry state. The words were said mostly for him.

She was a vampire. Full stop.

He sliced his left palm. Kneeling in front of the vampire, he lifted her head by her neck. His hand was just above her lips, and he closed his hand into a tight fist.

"Mhhm...ngh..." Her body squirmed, and her brows furrowed.

"Stop moving," Raphael said with a growl.

She moved her head again, and his blood dripped on her bottom lip.

Her body stiffened.

Raphael prepared for the vampire to lunge at his bloodied hand.

He shouldn't have been surprised by now, considering this vampire kept destroying his expectations.

She rolled over until she fell to the ground and retched.

The vampire didn't have much in her stomach as she could only produce a small puddle of bile.

He was stunned. The vampire just refused to drink human blood.

Raphael stared at the small frame trembling as she kept gagging.

He snapped out of his dazed state. "Stop that. You obviously can't puke anymore."

The vampire didn't stop. Finally, sobbing, with broken speech, she managed to utter, "smell...bad."

Raphael raised a brow and sniffed himself. Was this bitch talking about him? All he smelled was the clean scent that came from laundry detergents. If anything, it was the vampire that should be smelling bad.

He sighed and looked around the room. It wasn't a great place for ventilation.

"My lord, hear my plea. Deliver this sinner from evil." Gold light suffused from his skin. "Obfula!" He concentrated his attacks on the vampire's chain.

She was free, save for the manacles and the bit of chain hanging from the cuffs.

"Come on, if you don't like the scent, let's get out of this shit hole," he said.

The vampire's body was racked with tremors, and she struggled to lift her head. She tried to get up, but she fell back down.

After watching her fail to stand up for the second time, Raphael rolled his eyes and grabbed her waist like hauling a sack of potatoes. Then, with one jump, they got out of the hole.

He walked down the stairway and exited the manor. He dropped her unceremoniously on the ground, and her gagging transformed into coughs.

Her body sagged back down to the ground.

"Hungry..." She moaned.

"I tried feeding you, but you rejected my offer," Raphael said, irritation lacing his tone.

"A-animal..."

The pig in the dining hall came to mind. 'Don't tell me, her diet is actually animal blood? The abbey would have a heyday if they ever found a vampire with a non-human diet.'

"Alright." Raphael entered the dining room and found the decomposing pig on the table.

He gagged as the scent of spoiled meat burned his throat. White larvae were diving in and out of the pig's skin, and a swarm crowding the pig's open intestine.

He didn't want to touch this.

He backed away from the dining hall and sighed into his hand. 'What the hell am I doing right now?'

Raphael walked past the vampire and headed into the forest.

"Here." Raphael came back with two dead bunnies. He placed the carcass next to the vampire.

Her weary eyes opened. She took one of the brown bunnies and bit its neck.

Raphael turned away as she fed.

He wasted a lot of time on this. Once he gets the location of the vampire queen, Gwen-something, then he would kill her and run like hell back to his dorm. Fortunately, the moon was still high up in the sky.

"T-Thank you, sir." A soft voice spoke out.

He turned towards her, and she hid the bunnies behind her.

Raphael raised a brow but didn't question her.

"I'm sor-" She coughed as she rubbed her throat.

Her slender neck still had the imprints of his finger before he left.

Raphael pushed down the feeling of guilt, and his face was carefully blank.

The vampire shrunk under his stare, and her cheeks reddened slightly. She turned away towards the graveyard.

With a soft gasp, tears flowed down her cheeks.

Raphael felt...well, he wasn't sure what he felt. But, whatever he felt, deep down, he knew he shouldn't be feeling this way. So, he twisted the unknown feeling into something he was familiar with.

Hatred.

But the tiny voice inside his head told him that he was angry at himself. He was frustrated that the vampire didn't act as all vampires should. He was pissed that he was doing things out of the ordinary and treated her differently.

He shoved the tiny voice aside. She was a monster. She should be treated as such.

"Those were all the villagers from the Orchard village that you've slaughtered," Raphael said with a snarl. "You and your family sure were thorough."

He egged her on. He wanted to see the true monster behind that fragile-looking face. He wanted to see the hideous cruelty that all vampires exuded with sick pride.

The vampire didn't say a single word. Instead, as if a woman possessed, she stumbled towards the burial site and slinked to her knees.

"Sir..." Her voice was gravelly. "T-thank you..."

Raphael's brows knitted together.

The vampire turned, and tears ran down in rivulets. Her face had red blotches, and her lips quivered. "I...If I were to...b-bury them...m-my pr-prayers w-would g-go unheard." She wept into her hands. "T-thank you...sir."

What was this? Why? Why was this vampire crying over the dead humans? What was her relationship with them?

He wanted to see it—the monster in human form.

But instead of the monster, he could only see a woman weeping for her lost loved ones.

Raphael stared at the sharp point of the wooden stake.

For a moment – just for a moment – he wanted to ask about her story. He wanted to get to know...her.

His eyes widened. 'Get it together. She's a vampire!'

"Wow!" an unfamiliar voice broke through his internal griping.

Raphael and the woman froze.

In the forest, a shadow appeared.

"My queen, I was sure you would've died by now. Kekekeke."

Raphael narrowed his eyes. He had heard this distinct laughter before.

No...it couldn't be.

He quickly looked back to the manor. He was sure he killed the bastard with that shitty laughter.

"Don't tell me you had more side-mates? Master would be terribly disappointed to hear that you've been sleeping around with animals. Kekekeke."

The female vampire trembled. "C-C-Cristo..."
