I am back!
Merry Christmas!
***
We were guided inside the castle by Magiya Celes. On our way, I met a few Magical Girls that noticed Blaze and me. Probably from the news, as they waved their hand at me and muttered something.
“Isn’t she the one?”
“Yeah! The mysterious Magical Girl!”
“I heard she has a thing with Magiya Blaze!”
“Kya! That’s why they are together? No wonder!”
I smiled, satisfied, as I heard all the rumors going around. Fufufu, as planned.
Having Blaze live with me to cause a misunderstanding worked. Sooner or later, I would make those rumors come true. The first step of my grand plan worked!
“Arsy…” Blaze muttered, calling out to me and pointing at Celes. “Don’t get lost in your thoughts and ignore her. Celes tried to explain what the problem was, but you ignored her and smiled creepily.”
I turned to Celes and noticed she glanced at me with a bitter smile. Oops, my bad.
“My apologies, madam,” I said. “It’s just I had listened to birds singing on the side. I must admit, the Magical Girls in this Magiya Temple are all good girls.”
Blaze looked at me weirdly, but I ignored her. Why did she look at me with a hopeless gaze? Did she not understand that role-playing was one of joy? She needed to learn more. I thought she also enjoyed role-playing, seeing how different her real personality was in contrast to when she acted as a Magical Girl.
“Thank you for the praise. Did you hear what I explained earlier?”
“Not at all,” I replied instantly. Well, it was true that I was too lost in thought, focusing on hearing something I wanted to hear instead of her explanation. “I would appreciate it if you repeat it for me. My apologies.”
“Haha…hahaha… W-Well, I will explain it from the start then.” Celes laughed dryly. I knew that I had shattered my image already, but who cares? She had branded me as a strange girl now. I knew it from her eyes.
“The root of the problem is the strange balloon spotted this morning in Japan. A few girls, 5 in total, had come in contact with the balloon and popped them, only to find a Wand inside. Out of curiosity, they grabbed the wand and turned into Magical Girls without their consent.” Celes explained as she turned around, walking toward inside the castle.
This time, I listened to her explanation attentively. 5 girls, huh? The amount was somehow the exact same as the Mana reaction I felt in one room. Had they separated them from the rest? A jail? Or maybe just a detention room?
Anyway, that was a good decision, actually. We didn’t know the Giant those wands belonged to yet.
“We decided to take them inside this Magiya Temple, a side branch of Magical Girls based in the Kansai Region. Then after we talked to them, we noticed something unusual.”
“And what is that?” I urged her to continue.
“Among the five of them, three had Water element, while the other two had Electricity and Wind, respectively.” She turned to me and narrowed her eyes. I responded with the same gesture.
“That’s weird,” I said, putting my hand on my chin.
A Giant only governed one element, except for Titan, and they could only turn a few people into Magical Girls depending on their strength. Three Water elements, one Electricity, and one Wind. Looking at the elements themselves easily told us that at least 3 Giants were involved.
“And this situation is more dangerous than I originally thought. And I don’t think I can play around as much as I planned.” I muttered. But it seemed like both Blaze and Celes heard it as they looked at me strangely. “What?”
“You thought you could play around while people are in danger?” Blaze narrowed her eyes. Her tone was lower than usual, like when a teacher scolded their students.
“I also can’t believe what I heard,” Celes added.

“Huh?” I became confused. Actually, not. I understood what I talked about. What I couldn’t understand was their reaction. “Could it be you girls thinking that I helped this time because I want to help people?” I asked.
Since the start, I have never had any interest in helping people. I only cared for my loved one and myself. Why should I care about other people? Titan understood me and asked me to have fun as long as I didn’t destroy things above the limit.
Of course, I didn’t forget the favor he asked me. That was to protect this world from the Evil Side if they went too far. Titan left it to my judgment because it knew better it couldn’t control me.
I needed to say it to them first before they misunderstood my priority. If they thought I was doing this for other people, then they were dead wrong. Maybe if the situation was different, like when I could gain a reward from a cute girl, then I would move for them, but…
“There is no way I will protect people out of my own accord. I only joined because I think this situation is interesting.” I continued, gaining a strange gaze from Blaze, who slightly understood me, and a scowl from Celes.
“Please leave.” The girl commanded me with a cold tone. “If you think this is a play, then leave.”
While I understood I brought this situation to myself, it was still unpleasant to be asked to leave when I was here out of good intentions to help Commander Amamiya. Not that I couldn’t understand her feelings, but…
They will be doomed. I thought. However, I still maintained my calm. I decided. I didn’t like this woman at all.
“Really?” I asked, glancing at Blaze.
She looked confused and couldn’t seem to make the decision. I see… Celes was like Commander Amamiya in this place, so she technically was Blaze’s superior in this case. That was why Blaze didn’t know what to say or do. Whether she should support me or Celes.
I didn’t want to make the situation more complicated for Blaze. Well, it’s not like I need to be here in the first place to join the fun.
“Alright then,” I replied, looking at Celes. “I will not help you in any danger.”
“Tha–“ Blaze’s eyes widened, and she tried to say something, but Celes interrupted her.
“It’s fine. We don’t need your help. We, Japan Magical Girls, are enough to fix this problem.”
Overconfidence. They will fail. A big fail. I guessed.
She didn’t know the danger of this situation yet. I didn’t really care about their ignorance or if she was killed too. Not my problem. At least I would save Blaze at that moment.
Observing from the sideline also seemed interesting. I could maybe talk with the perpetrator and find out what she was planning for. Whoever it was, she was bound to be more interesting than Magiya Celes.
In the first place, Independent Magical Girl was free from duty like this. I also loved freedom.
Glancing at Blaze for the last time, I noticed worries on her face. I smiled slightly at her, then turned to Celes, who looked at me like a criminal now. Hey, I didn’t even hit you.
“Hmm, you do you.” I turned around and waved my hand in the air. “Blaze, I will see you around in the apartment. Apparently, they don’t need my help.”
“Wait, Arsy!”
“Stop, Magiya Blaze. I am the one with authority here, and I ask her to leave. Don’t try to stop her.” Celes stopped Blaze by raising her arm.
“But–“
“You hear the one with authority, Blaze.” I stopped and turned around. My voice was coated with a mockery directed to Celes. “Don’t count on me when they are in danger. At least I will save you when they are wiped out.”
Then I walked away, all while feeling a sharp gaze behind me.
Now then… I think I should make a move by myself. Let’s start by finding one of the said balloons.
