Chapter 50: V3C18 – Resolve as Evil Enters

I jerked awake to the scene of the [Cursed One] one-sidedly beating us up, similar to the past hour. It seems he's sprouted black wings, that amalgamation...!

My deep black eyes like space shimmer as an abyss. The shadowy contours of my body twist and twirl like an infinite sea. I wearily yet energetically pump out my limbs and strike violently to the oncoming obstacles in my way using [Neutralizer: Knife]. The edge cuts really well, but not as well as my strengthened [Realizer]. Anyways, I am currently lost in my mind yet fully focused. My own inferno warps in a single line,

"Ha!"

The [Curses] in my path are masterfully executed as I rush at full speed. Making use of the pumping momentum, I approach the [Cursed One] through a single caught path. A final irrational rush, is that really the result of [Latent Release]? Can you see more to it?

"Ai!"

I call out to her, signaling her involvement. Quickly bolting to a position, she jump spins and [Void Point]s the [Cursed One]'s chest, tearing through his arms as well. That thick mass could likely tank explosives, so such a piercing power is my saving grace. My glum expression behind indefinite darkness shoots to the [Cursed One]'s front. Our faces are within an arm's length...he has a distracted look.

The spear wound from Ai opened a gaping hole, and in one corner near his heart was the mana-rich [Core] of irredeemably black color. Pushing my willing hand to it, I grasp the [Core] right before the whole system regenerated. My forearm is then quickly closed inside the [Cursed One]. A burning sensation sizzles through my skin, but, I already have a hold...!

[Mana Drain]

 I begin draining the evil from the [Cursed One].

The circuits and formations are clicking vigorously while sweat and blood dribble down hotly.

The [Cursed One] and I scream together in collective suffering. Just a bit more...I will...

I don't know how much time has passed, but I'm getting tired of feeling this unswallowable bloodlust. Suddenly, it all stops like there was nothing anymore for an insatiable vacuum.

Relieved, my grasp loosens and my vision clears. There are tears flowing down my face even though I don't remember anything too sad happening. Are these tears of pure pain? Then, something even greater prickles my whole body, muscle cramps, and open wounds. The hole in my chest sure bothers me now...

Indistinguishable female voices, and an assaulting warmth. Is this Hayase-san's [Heal]? Taking time to fully orientate, I view upon the nine faint outlines...and smile. It seems my mind is still in the clear. Anyways, looking down at the disintegrating body next to me I realize. Then, I believe,

"It's our win..."

I absorbed the [Cursed One], albeit painfully with [Mana Drain].
