“Taken over…she is becoming a Host?!” Kazuki let out.

 

He watched in a daze as the flames from hell and Defensive Magic Power struggled against each other.

 

<<This girl, Kaya, went mad because she let a malicious Spirit in…she trusted its words. Every time she used Magic, or even spoke to it, the Spirit changed her body little by little -- allowing it to inhabit her when the time came. However, this possession isn’t completely stable.>> Leme answered him.

 

The flame was being extinguished little by little, Kaguya was approaching her limits.

 

“Oh? Is it already over?” Asmodeus let out a disappointed voice as her figure was starting to fade.

 

On the other side of the flames and Defensive Magic, a human silhouette appeared -- it wasn’t the shape of a teenage girl.

Long ago, a Spirit had succeeded in completely manifesting -- it had led to the destruction of Tokyo, and the creation of great numbers of orphans. They were the occupants of the orphanage, Kazuki, Mio, and Kaya were included in that number.

Finally, the flame ceased and the blue light faded.

 

The one who stood in the remains of the scorched area -- didn’t resemble Kaya at all. A beautiful, shapely woman with long hair and uncommon height looked at the people in front of them.

 

Her hair was blue, and partially transparent -- like crystal. Her face was slender and her features were Nordic; a sinister smile pulled at her full, crimson, lips.

 

Clutched in her right hand was the large, blue sword.

 

“At last! It’s about time that I succeeded in obtaining a body in this world! Even with all the hindrance of the Knight Order, I’m the first to achieve this!” Her voice was husky.

 

She looked at Kazuki, who was standing wearily in front of her -- his sword grasped tightly as he trembled nervously because of the mass of Magic Power standing in front of him.

 

“My name is Loki! The same Loki from Norse Mythology!” She paused, looking down at her body, “Well, I usually take the form of a male…but because my Host was female, I took this form.”

 

“Anyway! I shall fulfil my purpose and cause this world to fall into chaos! Once the Age of Gods begins…I shall be the one who will usher in Ragnarok! That is my role, my purpose…the reason I exist!”

 

Kazuki was glaring at Loki, while Mio and Kaguya had fallen to their knees and were watching -- their gazes were filled with despair. Only Kazuki was still standing, gripping his Gladius.

 

“Hmm? You aren’t just a normal Summoner, are you?” Loki’s gaze showed interest as she licked her lips, “The one inside you is…Lemegeton from Solomon’s 72 Pillars, isn’t it? I see. So, you are the new King aren’t you.”

 

She raised an eyebrow, “Which means that you are one of the ones who are going to obstruct me, aren’t you?”

 

“What have you done to Kaya?” Kazuki growled.

 

“What have I done? Well, it’s just as you see. I broke her down and then possessed her, which is what allowed me to achieve this -- it took a lot of time and effort to do this correctly, allowing me to keep her…mostly sane, until her body was ready to receive me! From a long time ago, my speciality has been manipulating peoples’ feelings.”

 

“Kazuki…It’s impossible!” Kaguya shouted as she saw Kazuki tighten his grip on the hilt of his longsword.

 

Ignoring her words, Kazuki started running.

 

“Interesting! You want to challenge me in sword combat!” Loki’s grin widened as she casually receive Kazuki’s attack with her large sword.

 

“Huh…?” She was pressured by the strength of the slash.

 

Before Loki could regain her balance, Kazuki swung a second attack, enhancing the already potent strength with his Enhancement Magic.

 

“Wha, what is your sword style?!” Loki was shocked as she blocked the attack, back-stepping while reeling.

 

Giving up on using a cautious style, Kazuki gave in to his guilt and anger, attacking furiously.

Loki swung to counterattack; however, Kazuki parried the large sword and managed to get in an attack through the gap. Of course, Loki’s Defensive Magic protected her from the sword.

 

…What in the world was that just now?

 

This attack enabled Kazuki to sense how much Magic Power Loki’s body actually contained.

 

Would a few thousand slashes be enough to destroy this barrier?!

 

If normal Magic Defense could be considered a curtain…Loki’s Magic was closer to an ancient Castle wall.

 

Loki staggered back with a look of shock.

 

“Don’t get cocky! This time, I will be using Magic!”

 

Along with those words, her Magic Power swelled. The sword in her hand rapidly sucked the Magic into it, dense Magic Power condensing inside the thick blade.

 

Kazuki used Foresight to see the Magic Power -- and instinctively felt terror.

 

“Divine Sword, Laevateinn!” Loki shouted as she swung the sword at Kazuki.

 

Along with the sound of slicing wind, the highly-condensed Magic was unleashed as a sharp shockwave -- which rushed towards Kazuki.

 

He barely managed to evade it using Foresight.

 

However, the shockwave changed its trajectory, as though it had its own will -- unparalleled accuracy with automatic pursuit…it’s impossible to evade.

 

It’s also clear that he wouldn’t be able to block it with his Magic Power.

 

With this amount of destructive power…it would be a one-hit kill.

 

Standing in front of certain death -- Kazuki felt time become extremely slow.

 

At that moment, a shadow threw itself in front of Kazuki while finishing the incantation of a Spell.

 

“...Self Burning!”

 

It was Mio, clad in flaming armour, that had jumped in front of Kazuki. However, the flame was easily erased by the shockwave, followed by her Defensive Magic -- Mio’s blood scattered in the air.

 

Fresh blood. So red that it looked like an illusion.

 

Mio collapsed feebly into Kazuki’s chest; her body, from her chest to stomach, had been split vertically.

 

Her skin rapidly paled.

 

“Mio?! … Why?!”

 

“If you had received that attack with your current Magic Power, you would surely die…Protecting an E-Rank, this is the duty of an A-Rank, right…?”

 

Because of her ripped lung, her breathing was incredibly weak.

 

Loki watched with an expression that looked like mild curiousity as she watched the drama play out in front of her.

 

Kazuki’s head went white as it seemed that ice ran through his veins.

 

How…How could it come to this?! This person, she wounded…killed…my precious person!

 

“Bitch! I’ll kill you!” Kazuki let out, his mouth moving without his control.
