The next morning, a girl’s voice resounded in the garden of the Witches’ Mansion.
The number 2 of the Magic Division, Hoshikaze Hikaru, was in a gym uniform and brandishing a longsword -- swinging it at Kazuki.
He dodged it with agility. The girl then turned with fluid grace, slashing from a second, third time. Hikaru had only learned a few forms, but she had learned them perfectly.
Kazuki counter-attacked and stabbed at the gap in the middle of the flow.
Hikaru panickedly blocked.
The instant their swords locked -- Hikaru tried to force Kazuki’s sword straightforwardly, but Kazuki warded it off in a circular trajectory; manipulating the sword blade skillfully, repelling Hikaru’s longsword.
“That technique is called Alter Position.” Kazuki said as his sword lightly hit Hikaru’s forehead -- and was repelled by her defensive magic power.
“Senior, when locking swords, it’s no good to directly push against them, you know.” Kazuki said.
“I see! When using Physical Enhancement, a genuine Knight will surpass me. That’s why I must work on parrying my opponent’s attacks.” Hikaru murmured, nodding her head.
She learned enthusiastically, a great student of tremendous quality.
Moreover, as long as it was demonstrated slowly at least once, Hikaru could learn the move. When Kazuki showed an example, she would use Telepathy Magic to align their consciousnesses and trace the movement -- this use of Magic impressed Kazuki.
“Keep in mind that strength isn’t all there is to a match. You have Ride Lightning, so it should be very difficult to be defeated in close range combat.” Kazuki said with a smile.
It was because of this Spell that Hikaru had asked Kazuki to teach her sword combat. She had only learned the fundamental movements so far, but even those would become terrifying if used with Ride Lightning.
“I’m glad that I became your apprentice! Honestly, until I met you, somewhere in my heart…I couldn’t figure out how to best utilize Ride Lightning. But, swinging swords every day together with you, I feel like a whole new world is opening up!” She said with a smile.
Kazuki found it impossible not to be attracted to her character.
“Moreover, your way of teaching is kind. Somehow, getting knocked down by you was a happy thing. You’re not savage at all, so…even though you are a man, I want to know you more through this sword teaching.” Hikaru said this in an ecstatic tone, a heart floated out of her chest.
“For a long time I have wished for a friend of the same gender!” She continued.
“No, wait. You and I aren’t of the same gender.” Kazuki rolled his eyes as he spoke.
“That is true, but…however I see it, my appearance looks like that of a boy, doesn’t it? The behaviour of the girls around me are somehow a little strange. I’m happy receiving adoration from them, but it is also oddly lonely. But, if it’s you, I feel that we can immediately face each other as friends!” Hikaru explained, still smiling.
“Of, of course! If you don’t want it, I don’t have any idea other than friendship.”
“Thank you, I’m happy! …Oops, eh?”
Hikaru staggered slightly as she laughed. She had instinctively used normal reinforcement Magic, so when she relaxed -- there was fatigue piled up.
“Are you okay, Hikaru?” Kazuki immediately supported her shoulder.
Her body instantly trembled. She had gotten better at face to face dialogue -- and combat -- but she was still bad when it came to boys touching her.
She let out a shrill and nervous sound and pushed Kazuki away.
Which caused him to stagger because of the unexpected surprise attack.
“Ah, sorry! Are you okay?!”
This time, it was Hikaru who reflexively supported Kazuki, and then pulled him close. But, she did so with too much force, causing her to stagger backwards while closely embracing Kazuki.
Like in a bad comedy movie, the two of them tumbled down onto the lawn.

Kazuki was wrapped in warmth and softness. When he opened his eyes, he noticed that his head was buried in the softness of Hikaru’s chest, which was covered by gym clothes -- the strangely sweet scent of a girl’s sweet tickled his nose.
The gym clothing in front of Kazuki’s eyes was wet, a blue sports bra was showing through the white material.
“Ha, Kazuki…” Hikaru’s face blushed right red.
Kazuki hopped up, separating his body from Hikaru’s, however, before he could say anything.
“S-Sorry!” Hikaru bowed her head towards Kazuki, because she thought that she had done something very embarrassing.
“Hikaru, please don’t apologize! There was no harm done anyway!”
<<Getting apologized to, even though such an impossible event happened. What a great Harem King, huh, my King!>> Leme sent ridiculing words.
<<Though, it was likely because of subconscious desire. It would have been impossible otherwise.>>
True, it was a good feeling. Kazuki thought with a grin.
“I’m really sorry. Despite my intentions, I got surprised when you got so close. Am I disqualified as your friend? Please don’t hate me…” Tears rose in her eyes.
“It’s fine, Hikaru! The unshakable friendship between us won’t be destroyed by something like this!”
“Unshakable friendship! Kazuki, you really say that?! I like it very much!” Hikaru grasped Kazuki’s hand.
But, even though it was the case of Hikaru grabbing his hand because she was overcome with excitement and happiness, she gradually started to feel scared because of the fact that she was holding the hand of a man. However, she was trembling so badly that she couldn’t release him by herself.
“Senior, please don’t force yourself.” Kazuki said, gently prying Hikaru’s fingers with a bitter smile.
Hikaru was a girl who tended to move before thinking.
“For-forgive me. Haa, I wish that someday you and I can do a hot-blooded hug of friendship between men, ascertaining our friendship with each other.”
“Normally, there aren’t hot-blooded hugs of friendship between men, without alcohol, or catching up after a long time separated.” Kazuki said, chuckling.
“Eh? In my favourite Manga, they hugged each other while their faces slowly got closer. Then, they mutually whispered into each other’s ears: ‘I love you’, and bit the earlobe of their partners, though? I didn’t really understand, but it made my heart beat faster, you see.” Hikaru said with a tilted head.
“I wanted to get along better with you, however. Just like that, you seee~!”
The positivity level of Hikaru, who had said such honest words -- which she likely didn’t understand the connotations of -- was only: 39.
Heart marks often flew out of Hikaru’s chest, but the amount that the score raised was strangely low -- moreover, sometimes the score would drop by itself even when Kazuki wasn’t doing anything…keeping the number no higher or lower than 39.
<<It’s because of her phobia of men. The points decreasing arbitrarily is because, even though she doesn’t hate you -- she can’t help but wonder if it’s okay to like you, this feeling of doubt and guilt is restraining her positivity level.>> Leme explained.
Meaning, that to get along better with Hikaru would require him to also help her get over her phobia. But the more he knew Hikaru, the more he wanted to get along well with her.

Hikaru paused, as though she had just remembered, “--Actually, there is something that we wish to ask of you and your party.”
“A request? For us, who haven’t had much success when it comes to Quests?”
“Yes, but it isn’t something too troublesome. Rather, it could be the solution for your trouble…Well, I think that you should hear the story from Kaguya after school, so just wait. Fufufu~”
Kazuki couldn’t help but feel like there would be trouble in the future, judging by Hikaru’s tone.
“Okay then, Kazuki, let’s take a shower and do the morning preparation, okay!” Hikaru said excitedly, leading the way back to the Witches’ Mansion.
