The location of the Magical disturbance was a large garden on the outskirts of the Magic Division.
An overflowing green lawn was currently filled with Magic lights. There were two types of coloured-lights, red and green -- two students, one male and one female, were wearing the Magic Division’s uniform and chanting Summoning Magic.
With the lights forming a glowing, flashing background, there was another figure -- one which seemed to be like a dancing shadow. Although Kazuki couldn’t see the figure’s face, he noticed that the uniform was of the Knight Division, and they had a longsword in one hand.
It seems that the two Summoners were currently battling a Knight.
…
The red light began to swell, the pulsing was increasing in speed and intensity, indicating that a Spirit was about to be summoned.
“Too slow!”
However, the Knight was faster as they dashed over.
The instant the Knight slashed with their longsword, the swelling red light burst open and disappeared. Even though the Summoner had also deployed a Magic Barrier behind the red attack Magic, it was also destroyed by the powerful impact.
Spinning around, the Knight faced the second Summoner.
This movement revealed the face of the Knight.
It was Kanae.
Kazuki had recognized her by her fighting style, and her silhouette, so he wasn’t surprised.
“I know thy name. Thy name is Andromalius…”
The Summoner who was releasing green light was chanting a Spell. It seems that Andomalius is the name of the Spirit that she had formed a contract with. Her entire body was wrapped in light.
“You are also too slow!”
Kanae jumped and slammed her sword into the light.
The Summoner’s Magic Barrier was also blown away.
Magic Barriers were blue coloured, no matter the person utilizing them. They weren’t Summoning Magic, but normal Magic that utilized the caster’s Magic Power.
Modern humans, after the reappearance of Magic, all contained some Mana, no matter how little. When they were in danger, their body would instinctively cover itself with a Magic Barrier to protect itself, which made it rare for people to be injured when Magic wasn’t involved.
However, if the Barrier suffered an attack containing Magic, it would gradually use more Magic Power, draining the defender’s Mana until they ran out.
Magic Power is also known as Spiritual Power -- if it drained, the person would be knocked unconscious. Their minds would be drawn into Animus Mundas; this phenomenon was known as being ‘Emptied’.
“Oh, although they didn’t wear their ‘Magic Dress’ for simplified chants, having their Magic disrupted so easily is bad. If they wish to face Kanae, their training is far from enough.” Kaguya said quietly from beside Kazuki.
Having their Magic Barriers shattered in a single, overloading, attack, didn’t completely drain the girl’s Mana -- so they stood up and began to chant again.
“Hmph. You want to be cut by me until your Magic Power runs out?” Kanae asked, her smile was like that of a battle maniac as she drew her second longsword. The twin-sword style was a sign that Kanae was getting serious.
Then, she pounced, moving like a cat --
“Stop right there!” Kaguya, who had been just watching from the side, shouted loudly.
The Magic was once again interrupted, Kanae also stopped her actions.

“The two Magic Division students over there: Ogiwara and Sato, who were refusing to give way to the Knight Division students. This created a dispute; therefore, Kanae intervened to mediate.” Torazou explained nervously to Kaguya.
“It’s not something as simple as mediating! That woman suddenly used her sword and swung it at us!”
One of the Magic Division students, the female who’s Magic was red, shouted.
“Wasn’t it the two of you who used Summoning Magic on the Knight Division students in the first place?”
“That was only a slight warning. Even though it is obviously within the territory of the Magic Division, these people continued to resist.”
“Did you only plan it as a warning? Sato?” Kaguya suspiciously asked the female student.
“You actually said it was a warning? Don’t joke around. It was probably because you wanted to test the Summoning Magic that you had just learned, so you specifically came here to cause trouble. Speaking of which, recently the students from the Magic Division have been using the Knight Division students as experimental subjects. Earlier, there have been students who have become unconscious!” Kanae snarled.
“People fainted?! I didn’t hear that such a thing has happened…!” Kaguya sounded genuine, she seemed shocked.
“That is because the teachers from the Magic Division hid the incidents. The Knight Division students that suffered from Summoning Magic were told not to spread the word -- they were offered money for their silence. I have, only recently, become aware of them.”
“...Were the two of you planning on doing things like that as well?” Kaguya looked at the Magic Division students.
“No! We didn’t consider it!” Sato shouted.
“Just because there is no evidence, it cannot be treated as a case. Instead, the only punishment is to beat them up. I will mostly deplete their Mana, and then the other students from the Knight Division can finish it. This will allow them to learn to endure their ‘disgrace’.” Kanae suggested with a vicious grin, two small canines visible.
“Kanae, you too, please don’t suggest this kind of violence as a solution!” Kaguya said, rolling her eyes.
“Don’t call me Kanae in such a familiar tone!”

Kazuki was surprised by the two girl’s attitudes.
Although Kaguya had said that the two of them were friends, the atmosphere was suspicious.
“Even if there are no means to directly address this situation, I don’t think that we should resort to violence -- for the long-term vision of improving the relationship between the two Divisions…”
Even though Kaguya delivered a passionate speech, Kanae denied her opinion.
“Don’t talk nonsense. Do you think that the Knight Division students, the ones treated as experimental subjects, would accept this?”
“You say that you want the Magic Division and Knight Division to become friendly? If it’s me…Although I acknowledge your strength, but I cannot agree with your perspective.” Sato said, quickly turning around.
Ogiwara also followed along.
The two students left.
“...I’m really unhappy. I wasn’t able to fight until I completely enjoyed myself.” Kanae muttered.
The male Knight Division student nearby bowed his head towards Kanae, “I’m really sorry, President. I caused trouble for you because I am too weak.”
Torazou placed a hand on the boy’s shoulder, “President, I’ll send this person to the teacher’s office. And I will submit the report about the incident.”
“I feel that it is futile. I’m only really interested in beating those two into the ground.” Kanae snarled.
Torazou nodded and lead the male student away.
The other girl, who had been silent the entire time, dashed off after them.
…
Waiting until they left, Kanae’s head swiftly turned towards Kazuki.
“Older brother~ Older brother, you actually took the initiative to find me!”
Kanae seemed like a completely different person as her voice sounded sweet and she pounced over to Kazuki, rubbing her face on his shoulder.
Kaguya’s eyes widened.
She faced Kanae, “Speaking of which, Kanae. That kind of violence isn’t allowed! You should try to think of a more peaceful method!”
“What, so you are still here? Don’t speak so casually with me.”
“...Aren’t you two friends?” Kazuki asked, confused.
“Who is friends with this person? I only, as the Student Council President of the Knight Division, had to greet this person…because she is the Magic Division Student Council President.” Kanae said with a small frown, “This girl is the Nightmare Bringer, Otonashi Kaguya!”
Kazuki was dumbfounded. In other words, this person is the strongest Summoner in the Magic Division.
Kaguya proudly thrust out her chest.
“Why are you together with this person, older brother?”
The one who replied to Kanae’s question wasn’t Kazuki, but Kaguya.
“Because I noticed this new student was walking around the school, very lonely; so I decided to bring him around the school.”
“Older brother was lonely?! Sorry! I will absolutely never abandon you again! Come, let’s ignore this fellow and continue our exploration of the academy.”
Kanae hugged Kazuki’s arm and pulled.
“Ah, wait a minute. I’m also bringing him around!” Kaguya said, grabbing his other arm.
Kazuki felt surprised by the sudden soft, tantalizing feeling on his arms.
“Older brother, just now, your expression became indecent! What made you so happy? Could it be that this fellow’s boobs made you have bad thoughts?!” Kanae asked with narrowed eyes.
“I, I didn’t have an indecent expression!”
“Boobs?”
After freezing for a second, Kaguya noticed that her breasts were currently pressed against Kazuki’s arm. Her cheeks reddened and she said, “Sorry…” and hurriedly pulled away.
Kanae grinned widely at this reaction, a victorious smile, and pressed her own breasts against Kazuki’s arm, moving around to emphasize the soft feeling.
“As Student Council President of the Magic Division, I should guide my new freshman around!” Kaguya said.
Kanae only growled.
“Well, off we go~!”
As Kaguya dragged Kazuki off by his hand, Kanae stayed close, seeming to be watching for any mischief by the other girl.
