“Charlotte Liebenfrau has Contracted with a Spirit that doesn’t belong to the 72 Pillars. She could be considered an Illegal Magic User -- except her Spirit is willing to follow the government, so it has been recognized by law. According to her psychology test, and Telepathic scans, there are no signs of encroachment.”

 

“Because it has been decided that there is almost no danger, she has been entrusted to our school to be monitored.”

 

“A Spirit’s traits are based on the Mythology that they belong to. The 72 Pillars mostly use Magic, which is why the Heaven and Earth Formation is so successful. However, Charlotte’s Contracted Spirit comes from a more close-combat related Pantheon with less casters. Watch closely, it will be useful when when fighting an unknown Spirit. Also, pay attention to her chanting speed, this will prepare you for facing against Summoners using Overdrive.”

 

Elizabeth introduced Charlotte and explained some of the circumstances surrounding the strange girl.

 

It was Lotte’s first Practical Magic class since transferring to the Academy.

 

Lotte deployed her Magic Armour -- which looked like a simple metallic bikini over the top of a white bodysuit. If she had a body as voluptuous as Kaguya, it would be even more indecent than her senior’s…however, Lotte was still flat.

 

With a simple Spell, she formed Magic weapons that looked like massive gatling guns formed around her slim arms. When she fired them, loud booming sounds rang out and the surrounding students watched with fascination.

 

“Teacher Elizabeth, Lotte will compensate for the weakness of our party.” Kazuki said.

 

Lotte showed off a second attack which used electric shocks.

 

For Kazuki and Mio, who had very few attack patterns, this would greatly improve their adaptability.

 

Elizabeth stood on her tiptoes and knocked on Kazuki’s head, “With your party right now, there shouldn’t be any problems clearing the Quest that you previously failed. So, you should re-challenge it over the weekend. Remember, this is also for the sake of Mio keeping her Rank.”

Kazuki and the others applied to re-challenge the Quest that they had failed during Golden Week.

 

The Academy didn’t have classes on the weekends, but it was ‘recommended’ that the students challenge Quests during their spare time -- taking the days off was looked down on.

 

After finishing breakfast at the Witches’ Mansion, Kazuki, Mio, and Lotte headed towards the station.

 

“Will it really go well just because I have joined your party?” Lotte anxiously asked Kazuki.

 

“It’s reassuring to have you with us. This time, when the Slime that is resistant to fire appears, it’s going to go well.” Kazuki smiled reassuringly.

 

“Then I will always keep my Electric Magic on standby!” Lotte nodded, clenching her fists.

Mio suddenly pulled on Kazuki’s sleeve and pointed to one of the street corners.

 

There were Knights in their white uniforms moving along the shopping street near the station. They seemed to be collecting information, investigating any sightings of Illegal Magic Users, or any hints of Loki’s location.

 

“Oh? It seems that there is a ‘black knight’ mixed in with the others. It must be one of the Knights from Germany that was mentioned on the news.” Mio whispered.

 

Among the white uniforms of the Japanese Knight Order, there was a single person wearing black. She looked to be around a head taller than the Knights, and her facial features were Nordic.

 

The uniform of the elite Einherjar -- who worked for Michael Liebenfrau -- was black.

 

“I heard that they had arrived in Japan, but…it feels different to witness it directly like this.”

 

Kazuki had heard the information in advance from Kaguya.

 

A few days after that night, the news of the Einherjar had spread over the local news.

 

With the current situation where contact between the Big 8 was rare, the arrival of foreigners was a major event.

 

Beside Kazuki, Lotte was cowering slightly.

 

“It’s okay. She isn’t chasing you, she only came here to defeat the rogue Spirit named Loki.” Kazuki tapped the shoulder of the shivering Lotte lightly.

 

“T, Thank you very much, older brother Kazuki.” Lotte forced a smile, while clinging onto Kazuki’s arm like she was depending on him. A heart flew from her chest and into Kazuki’s ring.

 

“...Muu.” Mio let out a moan and hugged Kazuki’s opposite arm.

 

While sticking to each other, the three of them continued along the street and ignored the knights. However, Kazuki had a feeling that the female Knight from Germany stole a glance towards him.
