Chapter 43: Book 2 – Chapter 13

“Oh, if it isn’t the Academy students who failed their Quest the other day?”

 

When they arrived at the gate leading into the Corrupted area, the soldier on watch said with a wide grin.

 

“This time, we reinforced our party, so we will be showing better results.” Kazuki responded with a shrug.

 

At Kazuki’s words, the guard seemed to finally notice Lotte, “A Caucasian? How rare.” His eyes were wide.

 

Leaving the guards behind, Kazuki and the others passed through the gate and into the inner parts of the Corruption.

 

The Corruption’s location was even further inside than before, which was because of the large number of Monsters killed by Kazuki and Mio -- the Mana density had decreased and nature recovered.

 

…

 

When they located some slimes, Kazuki protected Mio and Lotte, fighting at the front and diverted the Monsters’ attention. As rearguard, Mio’s fire Magic burned the weak slimes to ash.

 

As they defeated the Monsters, their surroundings slowly recovering little by little.

 

“--Prophet…Blitz!”

 

The red slimes were lured by the heat of Lotte’s gatling guns, and were soon imprisoned inside the electric barriers. After which, they were killed in a single attack -- they exploded into clouds of slimy mist.

 

“Eek!”

 

Because they were too close, a little of the scattered mist splashed onto Mio and Lotte.

 

Kazuki instantly remembered the events of when Mio first got affected by the red slime.

 

“Are you guys okay?! You were only splashed with a little.”

 

“Yes…It’s okay.” Mio replied with a blush and slurred voice. Then, she came over and clung to Kazuki, hugging his arm tightly. Lotte did the same, coming over to hug Kazuki and mumbling, “funya-funya”.

 

Kazuki enjoyed the sensation…even though the armour made it difficult to feel their softness.

 

“There area we passed through before had a lake, so let’s go there and wash off the slime.” Kazuki suggested.

 

“It’s fine to take a break while getting intimate with Kazuki~!” Mio slurred in a sing-song tone.

 

“I don’t understand, but, I’m so happy~! Everything is okaaay~!” Lotte said with a giggle as she skipped along.

 

He rolled his eyes and guided them both to the water, sitting down at the base of a nearby tree.

 

Most of the Monsters around this area were mostly exterminated, so what was once a muddy swamp had reverted back to a clear lake. Mio and Lotte soaked in the water, cleaning the slime from their Magic Armour and bodies.

 

“Kazuki, come here as well!” Mio called out.

 

“No, it will be troublesome if my uniform gets wet.” Kazuki responded. “Don’t play for too long!”

 

With those words, Kazuki closed his eyes -- all of his other senses were alert, so he would notice any approaching Monsters.

An instant later, the girls screamed and he sensed a surge of Magic Power.

 

…

 

Kazuki turned back and saw that a gigantic Monster -- which resembled a sea anamone’s top -- had risen from the surface of the lake. Several tentacles were stretching towards the two girls.

 

“Prophet…Fire!”

 

Lotte quickly chanted the Spell. But, because of the effects of the slime that lingered in their bodies, her bullets were fired blindly.

 

On the other hand, Mio was caught by the tentacles and were binding her wet body, “W, Wait! I really hate tentacleees!”

 

Some of the tentacles that had been severed by Lotte’s blind-firing, were being rapidly regenerated. This was the owner of the tentacles that had attacked Mio the first time they tried the Quest.

 

“Mio! …I won’t let these tentacles do as they please!”

 

When Mio was only a hairs-breadth from being groped by the tentacles -- Kazuki severed all of them in a single slash with his sword.

 

“K, Kazu! Thank you! Saying things like ‘I won’t let these tentacles do as they please to my Mio’. Ehehehe.”

 

A heart mark flew from Mio to Kazuki’s ring.

 

…’My Mio’? I don’t remember saying that, though.

 

“Hurry up with the Spell Chant.” Kazuki reminded her, and Mio replied ‘Yes!’, then switched to her battle mode. Hearing the reliable reply from behind him, Kazuki focused on mowing down the tentacles one-by-one.

 

The tentacles--only aimed for girls.

 

Against such a gigantic Monster, neither Kazuki’s sword, or Lotte’s bullets could inflict fatal wounds.

 

However.

 

“These perverted tentacles! Blazing Wings!”

 

Because of Kazuki’s protection, Mio was able to finish her high-level Magic; wings of flame spread out and she leapt into the Sea Anemone. Countless tentacles, along with the main body, were swallowed by the fire -- which was the finishing blow.

 

“We did it, Kazu!” Mio cheered excitedly and rushed to hug Kazuki. Unfortunately, her chest armour hid the softness behind it.

 

“Please don’t hug me when you are like this?”

 

“Why?”

 

“...My uniform will get wet.” Kazuki looked around at his surroundings -- it seemed that the Sea Anemone was the last big Monster…the rest of the surroundings rapidly changed to normal.

 

“It looks like this area is mostly cleared. Let’s go a little deeper when your Magic Armour dries, okay?”

 

Mio and Lotte agreed with Kazuki’s words.
