Following the Contract Ritual, after eating lunch at the school cafeteria, there was a brief introduction to the living standards of the school and the education program. However, most of this didn’t enter Kazuki’s ears.
A bell rang, signaling that the first day of school was complete.
The students were all brought to the student dormitory -- all of them were filled with expectations for the future.
However, Kazuki wasn’t permitted to join the ranks of these students.
“There is a staff meeting currently being held regarding your improper contract with a Spirit. Please wait in the infirmary until the meeting is over.”
He received a message from Elizabeth.
…
At the infirmary, under the surveillance of a couple of older and experienced Knights, Leme slept on a bed -- looking completely innocent and carefree.
Kazuki sat near the bed worrying about what would happen if Leme was seen as a threat. As the one who formed a contract with her, his future was uncertain; the best case scenario would be that his contract would be erased with powerful, dangerous Magic, he would be kicked out of the academy…worst case, he would be imprisoned and experimented on.
…
“Let’s start from the conclusion. You and Leme will temporarily be placed at the Magic Division while we observe the situation.”
The sun was beginning to shine orange light through the infirmary’s windows as Elizabeth and Kaguya walked through the door; Elizabeth was the one who spoke.
“Because you were originally a Knight, they aren’t very enthusiastic about you; there was the opinion to remove the Contract Seal and rush you to the Knight Division. However, the final conclusion was that you be put under surveillance under the supervision of the Magic Division.”
“Because there were many opposing opinions, Teacher said a lot for you!” Kaguya said with a wide smile.
“I only gave an objective opinion. The one who wanted to protect him was you.” Elizabeth said to Kaguya.
“It was not like that. Teacher also desperately protected him! How untruthful!” Kaguya returned with a teasing expression.
In other words, both of them protected him.
“Thank you, both of you, for doing so much for someone like me.” Kazuki said, relief and warmth flooding him.
“However, not all of the teachers believe in Leme. So you and that Spirit have to be carefully surveilled -- you will be on probation. But, this can also be considered very lenient.” Elizabeth explained, “The things Leme said were very suspicious. A so-called Spirit should have an inconceivable amount of Magic Power, able to distort the world by just being there. It is impossible for a Spirit to have no abilities.”
Elizabeth glared at Leme, who was currently sleeping.
If Leme had some kind of power, and she had successfully Materialized, then she should be able to freely control it -- even though Kazuki, her contractor, wasn’t given any power.
“However, that person knew about how Contracted Spirits have to submit to the government. She seems willing to follow that rule, having properly formed a Contract through a Stigma, so I find it difficult to believe that she is completely unrelated to the 72 Pillars. If this matter is mishandled…it may cause a rift in the relationship between Japan and the 72 Pillars.” Elizabeth looked worried.
Everyone knew that while the 72 Pillars were willing to work with the government, they were also observing the Humans. If they felt that the country didn’t deserve the power, there was the possibility that they would immediately stop assisting the country.
“This is a very delicate judgement. If anything strange or special occurs on your side, please immediately report to me. Remember this.” She paused, “The next problem is regarding where you should stay. Originally, the school had arranged for you to live normally in the boys dormitory…well, as a person who contracted an unknown Spirit, the school will not allow this.”
“Kazuki, you are arranged to be admitted into the Magic Division’s Student Council private dormitory: The Witches’ House!” Kaguya explained excitedly.
“The Magic Division’s Student Council is different than the other students. They get to live in a special dormitory. The Student Council, which gathers the strongest students, allowing them to live together…they are, however, all female.” Elizabeth said, before pointing at Kaguya, “Be thankful to her. Because she strongly proposed that if anything were to occur, the Student Council are the most likely to be able to respond to it.”
Kaguya smiled widely, “So that’s how it is, Kazuki! We will be together! You must be happy!”
“...Could it be that you harbour the wish of nurturing a boy who is younger than you?” Elizabeth asked, raising an eyebrow, looking suspicious.
“W, What are you saying, Teacher?! Please do not speak such gibberish, okay?! Really now…I did not feel that a boy younger than me was really cute. I only wanted -- to personally train a Magic Knight, who can use both sword techniques and Magic!”
“Magic Knight?” Kazuki asked.
“From today onwards, you are my first disciple! I will definitely train you into the strongest Magic Knight!” Kaguya exclaimed, tightly holding Kazuki’s hands.
…
“This here is the Witches’ House.” Kaguya said.
While carrying Leme -- who was still sleeping soundly -- Kazuki had been lead to this place.
It was a renaissance, western-styled mansion made from brick and black wood, surrounded by a large white-coloured stone wall.
Opening the iron gates, following the brick path and then opening the wooden front door -- the impressive interior was revealed. Although it wasn’t overly glamorous, the interior was strangely refined; the furniture was similar to that located in a high-class hotel.
Kazuki noted the overly majestic chandeliers.
“This area seems very big, doesn’t it? Well, it was created with the idea of renting rooms, there are quite a few on the second floor. The first room is a common living room, kitchen, and bathroom. Student Council Members of the first year are primarily responsible for the household chores.”
“No problem, I am already accustomed to doing housework. I was also going to be living alone, which would require the same work.” Kazuki said with a grin.
“Really? That’s great! Then, let us immediately arrange a room for you…”
“...Kazuki.” The originally asleep Leme suddenly opened her eyes, before struggling a little.

Kazuki released his grip and the girl jumped off his back.
“--Where’s the bathroom? Leme currently, urgently, needs it!”
Leme’s body was trembling.
Kaguya hurriedly held onto Leme’s small hands.
“I will bring this child to the bathroom. Go and pick a room that you like on the second floor, Kazuki!”
“Can I randomly pick?” He asked.
“Well, you cannot enter a room which has a sign, those are our rooms!” After finishing her words, Kaguya brought Leme to the bathroom.
At the back of the entrance hall, there was a large, marble staircase. Kazuki couldn’t help but run his hand along the smooth, metal handrail as he walked up to the second floor.
…
The entrance to the second floor was a small room with a small lounge with a sofa. There was a corridor that extended to the left and right, with rooms lining it.
Kazuki located the nearest door without a sign and opened it.
“...Eh? E-Rank?”
What he saw was -- Amasaki Mio, who was currently in the middle of changing, stripped down to her underwear.
A beautifully-shaped body, which gave off the impression of a sculpture of a Goddess; however, the difference between her and a sculpture was obvious, Kazuki could see smooth and soft skin with a nice texture.
“Ahhh!”
“Sorry! It was an accident!” Kazuki immediately rushed out of the room and closed the door behind him.
“I thought I heard a strange voic…Why is the E-Rank here?” A cold voice came from behind him.
Looking back, Kazuki saw Hiakari Koyuki standing there.
“What are you wearing?” Kazuki couldn’t help but ask, surprised.
“This is casual wear for indoors, is there any problem?”
She was dressed in a baggy shirt, which covered her underwear. His gaze couldn’t be helped but be captivated by the smooth and pure-white legs that extended from the hem of the shirt.
“...Didn’t I say it before, please do not look at me like this?”
Kazuki hurriedly moved his gaze away from Koyuki, who spoke as if she didn’t care.
Because of the unexpected events, Kazuki’s mind was spinning and he felt confused.
“Why is E-Rank here!”
After putting on a shirt and skirt, Mio shouted as she ran out of her room.
“I was brought here by Kaguya. Amasaki, why are you here?” Kazuki responded.
“You ask me why? Of course it is because I am A-Ranked!”
“Ahh, I understand.”
Kaguya did say that the strongest in the school were gathered into the Witches’ Mansion; of course the new A-Rank would be here.
“Anyway, the ones here are the elite of the elite! But, why would an E-Rank be here? A, And you just saw me naked, right?!”
“That was an accident! As I said, Kaguya led me here.”
“Are you guys arguing? What happened?” Kaguya came up the stairs and asked. “Ahh, could it be that the other first-year students are here? So that’s what it is! Because the staff meeting took so long, the older students would have shown them the way. Could it be that you ran into each other?”
In other words, Kaguya didn’t know the other first-years had arrived, which was why she had said that Kazuki could open any door without a sign.
“Student Council President, what on earth is E-Rank doing here?”
“This child is my number one disciple! The Magic Knight that will be trained by me!”
“S, Student Council President’s number one disciple?! Magic Knight? What is that?! Why does an E-Rank enjoy such special treatment?!”
“Hey hey. Where can I wash my hands? The person who said that you would guide me, guide me until the very end!” Leme’s voice suddenly came from the bottom of the stairs.
“That voice…Could it be the strange Spirit that you contracted with? Why is it here?”
Seeing Mio mutter suspiciously as she looked at Kazuki, Kaguya revealed a slight smile.
“Although it might be a little weird for a boy to live here…Kazuki and his Contracted Spirit, Leme, will be living here! You should be friendly with each other.”
