Serena opened her eyes as she smelled the roselle tea on the small table by the fireplace. Her body felt so heavy, it took a lot of energy just to get up. The effects of using the Moon Goddess' power for too long were also not good for her health.

That power is not a gift, but a curse that is ready to devour her life energy if used carelessly.

She groaned, her head throbbing violently as she straightened up. Resting on her hands, Serena tried to take in the room. Her eyes narrowed, the room was filled with luxurious furniture. Neat, clean, and well-maintained. It was different from her room in the castle.

“Where is this?” muttered Serena as she frowned.

Serena gasped as she heard the sound of the door knob moving. The door opened, Serena’s eyes widened as she saw a young girl enter with clothes in her hands.

“Good morning, Miss!” He said with a flat, cold gaze.

“Who are you?” Serena lifted the blanket and covered her naked body. Her eyes looked watchful, full of suspicion.

“Harriet, the omega of the Dagger residence!” The maid placed the clothes in her hands on the back of the chair.

“Dagger?” Serena’s eyes bulged. “H-how can it be?”

Harriet’s eyes were drawn to Serena’s scar. “Mr. Cameron brought you here, Miss!” Her brow furrowed. She did not expect that this woman with a deformed body could make Cameron bring her to Audrey Dagger’s residence.

Harriet knew how Cameron was, he wouldn’t bring any woman here. For Cameron, this cottage is a sacred place that should not be tainted by his love-making with a call girl. However, it seemed like this woman in front of her was so special, that it made Cameron not hesitate to bring the woman here. Even Cameron’s scent, faintly wafting from the woman’s body.

[Is that woman his mate?] Harriet wondered.

Serena grimaced, making Harriet wince. Harriet straightened her head and saw the woman holding her head with her free hand. Then, she glanced at Harriet.

“Mr. Cameron says to stay here until it’s safe!” Harriet smiled.

Serena pursed her lips. Her face looked very anxious. “I can’t! I have to go back! Are those clothes for me, Harriet?” Serena lowered her legs and walked over to Harriet.

Her legs were still shivering and her head was still dizzy, but she had to go home now. John and Mateo must be looking for her. However, after only a few steps, her body faltered, and she almost fell if Harriet didn’t catch her.

Serena was surprised as she swiftly moved her body away from Harriet. Her eyes were alert again, an aura of hatred and disgust was evident on her pale face.

“I can do it myself, you get out!” Serena ordered.

Harriet looked taken aback. The woman’s aura changed, it was as if Harriet was facing noble royalty when Serena ordered her to get out.

“Can you hear me? Get out!” hissed Serena.

Harriet gasped, then she bowed and withdrew.

Serena’s gray eyes looked at Harriet who walked away from where she stood. After Serena saw that the door to the room was closed tightly, she quickly put on the dress and walked to the window.

[I have to make sure everything is safe!] She exited through the window, with what was left of her strength. Serena put a veil of light around her body so that she could camouflage with her surroundings.

Serena left Dagger’s residence to go to her castle. She prayed along the way that all of her people would be safe. The camouflage veil would only last two days without her. The time had already passed a few hours before. Her face was tense, even though her head hurt a lot, but the safety of her people was her top priority right now.

She appeared relieved when she arrived at the castle. The castle appeared quiet and unchanged from when she left it the day before. There was no change. Serena approached the castle. She was certain that her people were hiding in the basement.

They had agreed that if Serena’s camouflage veil disappeared, everyone should hide in the basement. Because, no one would know what the woman’s condition would be when her strength weakened. So at that time, no one was allowed to move inside the castle. It was useful to prevent outsiders from knowing their whereabouts.

Serena walked into the castle and went straight to the kitchen. She noticed a door in the corner of the room that led to the food storage. She approached the door with wide strides and a troubled heart and opened it. The only thing taped to the wall was a candle holder.

She walked up to the wall and took out the candle holder. The crackling sound of the wall opening startled the few people who were hiding beneath the ground.

"Are you okay?" asked Serena as she walked down the stairs and looked at her people who were looking at her with shocked faces.

"Miss?" said Bertha as she ran up to Serena and hugged her. "Are you alright?" Bertha released her hug, the middle-aged woman's face looked very worried.

"Ruth and Thomas said you were taken by a werewolf." Mateo looked very worried.

“I’m fine, relax.” Serena gave a warm smile. “Just a moment, I’ll raise the veil!”

Serena made a triangle with her fingers. She closed her eyes, and a flash of silvery light encircled Serena’s hands before the woman moved her hands away. The light shone throughout the room, then throughout the castle, forming a dome with a radius of ten meters.

“Now you can go.” Serena gave a broad smile.

Everyone in the room looked happy.

"Ruth, meet me in my room!" Serena looked at Ruth who was standing behind Bertha.

“Okay, Miss!”

Serena emerged from the basement, trailed by her entourage. Her head was spinning, and her body appeared to be weak. She should have thought about it before using her powers again.

During her walk to the room. She occasionally held her head and tried to remain conscious. Fortunately, she had enough strength to make it to her cold room. Serena shuffled to her bed, which was not as comfortable as the bed in the Dagger home. However, she could sleep comfortably and peacefully without worrying about the people she had left behind the night before.

Her body shook and she collapsed onto the mattress. Serena was still conscious, but her body was too heavy to move.

[My energy is dwindling rapidly. It’s hefty. It’s so heavy!]

Serena’s consciousness began to fade. Her eyes slowly closed. Serena’s consciousness vanished as the darkness descended.

A blond man casually approached Serena. The woman was on her stomach on the floor. The place was quiet and empty.

“I told you not to push yourself, Selene!” The blond man began to speak. He squatted on Serena’s prone head.

“I have to make sure they’re safe, Helios!” Serena responded in a hoarse and weak voice.

“You’re no longer a Princess, and it’s no longer your responsibility to look after them.”

“I know, but I need to keep their trust!”

“Oh. By annihilating yourself in this way?” Helios stroked Serena’s hair. “The Moon Goddess’ power is useless if you’re still like this, Sis!”

“That’s why…” Serena raised her chin and looked at Helios. “…I must be even stronger. More powerful than ever!” She fixed her gaze on Helios.

Helios looked at Serena. “Then don’t act stupidly!” Helios sighed. “You should have realized. If you act recklessly, it won’t just be you who gets hurt. Those who are loyal to you will also be hurt.”

Serena dropped her head. “I know! That’s why… I ….”

”I can’t help you this time, so forget that stupid thought. You must stand on your own feet. It’s okay to be selfish every now and then. You must also make yourself happy!” Helios stroked Serena’s head with a smile.

“Just seeing my people happy makes me happy!”

“Really?” Helios rested his chin on his hand. Serena remained silent. “After 17 years with you, of course I know you better than you know yourself, Selene.”

“Do you think I’m unhappy?”

Helios offered a faint smile. “At least one of your knights thinks you’re unhappy!” Helios got up from his seat.

“Sir John?” Serena inquired softly.

“It could be!”

“Are you still alive?” Serena asked, her voice hoarse.

“I’m not sure dear, I’m a product of your subconscious.” Helios laughed. “Do you wish I was still alive?”

“Yeah.” Serena smiled. Her eyes then closed, leaving a smiling Helios looking at her, who was still slumped over and motionless.

“Thank goodness, Miss!” Ruth and Bertha looked at Serena with worried faces and a smile was evident on their wrinkled faces.

Serena woke up on her bed and was already wearing her nightgown.

“I brought some food for you.” Ruth approached the small table near the fireplace.

“What’s wrong with me?” Serena asked, dazed. She remembered falling on the bed and having no memory of anything other than her dream encounter with Helios.

“You have a fever, Miss,” Bertha said as she took Serena’s hand in hers.

“And have you had breakfast?” Ruth arrived with a hot plate of venison soup and herbs.

Serena tried to get up. It was almost evening, and it was getting dark. Her stomach had not been filled since last night. Unsurprisingly, she had fainted. Plus her body was not in shape.

Bertha helped Serena to get up while placing a pillow on the woman’s back. Ruth pulled the folded legs of the table she had brought. Then, she placed the table on Serena’s thighs.

“Do you want me to feed you?” Bertha was on her way to take Serena’s soup bowl. However, the woman politely declined.

“No, thank you, Bertha!” Serena grinned. “I’m fine; could you please leave me with Ruth?”

Bertha smiled and sighed as she looked at Ruth.

“All right, Miss.” Bertha stood up and exited the room, leaving Ruth and Serena behind.

“Sit down, Ruth!” Serena said as she picked up her herb cup and sipped the warm beverage.

Ruth sat down and waited for Serena to say something.

“You appear to be acquainted with Cameron Dagger.” Serena replaced the cup on its stand.

“Well, Miss, not much.” Ruth responded with trepidation.

Serena was beginning to resemble royalty; if that was the case, the woman drinking the soup would be discussing something very serious. Ruth was always amazed at how graceful Serena was while eating. For more than a decade, the mistress’s every move seemed to reflect the table manners taught by the royal etiquette teacher.

“Could you tell me about that man’s reputation?” Ruth gasped at the sight of her mistress’ gentle gaze as Serena looked at her.
