A little girl in a red hood smiled as she walked beside a young men dan lady. She walked cheerfully, her gaze fixed on the townspeople hawking and selling their wares to every buyer who passed by their stalls.
“Miss... ehem, Serena!” exclaimed Thomas while clearing his throat.
The red-hood girl looked at the Thomas. “Yes, Uncle Thomas?” she inquired innocently.
"Is it okay that you left home without informing your uncles?" Thomas inquired, his face look like concerned.
"Take it easy; they won't say anything. I can take care of myself." Serena gave a big smile.
“But Serena, if they find out you’re not in your room. They will punish you!” Ruth interjected. Her expression was as concerned as Thomas’.
Serena did not respond; she had already considered the risks of leaving the house without the permission of her uncles. Right now, it wasn't safe for a girl like her to get out of the house. She insisted on leaving the house and walking around the city.
Serena sighed, then smiled as she stepped outside to take in her surroundings. Several imperial scouting troops were walking down the market street, wearing robes with a tree emblem on the back. Some of them were walking down the narrow streets.
“They even searched every corner of the city,” Serena thought as she stood behind Ruth, who was haggling with a cloth seller. Meanwhile, Thomas separated to look for food.
Ruth plans to buy body-warming fabrics to get through the winter. The two cashmere, wool, and cotton rolls were about 100 yards long each. Ruth appeared ecstatic that her offer had brought the seller to his knees.
Serena sighed as she noticed the salesman’s disappointment. He grabbed Ruth’s skirt and tugged at it.
Ruth looked at Serena, who had a blank expression on her face. The young girl then smiled and shook her head.
Ruth paused, then laughed awkwardly and said, "Okey." Ruth smiled and handed the money bag to the seller.
The seller weighed the money bag and examined its contents. He looked at Ruth and Serena with wide eyes. “This is more than you bargained for, madam!” he exclaimed, his face puzzled.
Ruth laughed. "I was just teasing you, sir!"
Ruth's laughter astounded the salesman. Meanwhile, Serena grinned broadly at Ruth's laughter.
“As a bonus, my men will deliver the rolls of cloth to your carriage.” The salesman smiled broadly. There was a happy look on his wrinkled face.
“Thank you, sir.” Ruth returned the seller’s smile. “Then, where …?” Ruth cut herself off as she heard a noise not far from the cloth merchant’s shop.
“Shane Dagger, don’t overact!”
The sound of a man’s voice echoed through the city streets. Serena’s breath caught in her throat as she heard the man’s voice. Her ears were drawn to a familiar voice. A raspy, passionate voice echoed through her ear cavities, a voice that came from the mouth of a man and made her body writhe uncomfortably.
“Shane’s acting up again!” the seller said with a sigh.
"Shane Dagger? Rollo Dagger's son, the Alpha?" asked Ruth with wide eyes looking at the seller.
“Yes, the troublemaker,” replied the seller with a big laugh. “The direction of the brothel, I’m sure he went there again this time to hire a flower girl!”
“Brothel? Shane Dagger is a minor, right?” Ruth frowned.
“That’s why Madam, Cameron Dagger took his home.” The seller looked at Cameron who was carrying a young man on his shoulder with an annoyed face. ”This is a common occurrence, and Damon Dagger, Rollo’s eldest son, is usually the one who picks him up.”
"I heard Cameron was away from the neighborhood, when did he come back?" said Ruth as she looked at Cameron who was grumbling.
Serena was speechless at the sight of Cameron's handsome face. The girls screamed with excitement as Cameron walked past them, not a few of whom teased him or just greeted him. Meanwhile Cameron gave a little smile until the women squealed with excitement.
“I’m going to meet Uncle Thomas, Aunt Ruth.” Serena covered her face with her hood and looked down.
“All right,” Ruth said, smiling.
Serena cast a glance at Cameron. She was walking in the opposite direction as the big back. When she turned around, she felt a pain in her chest and her head felt like it had been hit by a slew of rocks. Serena continued walking while wiping away tears that flowed gently down her red cheeks and into her tear-stained eyes as a drop of water hit her shoe.
Serena laughed as she heard herself breathing and snot slowly flowing from her nose. The girl had not expected to feel the agony of wanting and hating at the same time.
“You’d better not leave your house right now, Little Lady!”
Serena was startled by a man’s baritone voice. She came to a halt and looked to the side. Cameron stood beside her, his face expressionless.
Serena was stunned when she noticed several scouting troops watching them. Some purebred wolves were also watching the two of them. Serena’s brown eyes then shifted to Cameron, who was still staring at her.
“Canis Lupus, the pure blood wolf race! You will not be able to deceive their sense of smell “Cameron smiled faintly as he whispered.

“Hm.” Serena frowned.
“They’re waiting for you to let your guard down, so stick with me! I can disguise your scent!” Cameron held out his hand to Serena.
The little girl was silent. From her face she looked so hesitant then she raised her hand and accepted Cameron’s helping hand.
“Good, I’ll take care of you!” Cameron smiled widely and pulled Serena’s petite body to his chest and carried her.
Serena was surprised when Cameron picked her up and hugged her like a child in need of protection. All eyes looked at them in amazement. Cameron is known to be a werewolf who is very friendly to children.
Several women screamed as they witnessed a man so possessively protecting a young girl like Serena.
“Do you need to carry me like this?” Serena asked, her gaze drawn to Cameron’s face, which smiled faintly at her.
Cameron placed the tip of his index finger in front of his lips. Serena raised an eyebrow, perplexed by Cameron’s expression.
“Being close together like this will make it easier to disguise your smell,” Cameron replied as he wrapped his arms around Serena’s back and turned the little girl’s face behind him. His blue eyes were drawn to a man dressed as a royal knight. “Gerald Langsteff.” Cameron spoke quietly to Serena.
The little girl widened her eyes. She recognized the man named Gerald very well. She glanced back but was blocked by Cameron’s hand that was behind her head.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Dagger!" Gerald greeted by bowing his body. Cameron did not respond, instead looking at Gerald with a cold stare, almost as if he was about to crush the middle-aged man in front of him.
Cameron could sense Serena’s tenseness. When he looked at Serena, her eyes trembled and rounded with a terrifying look.
"May I ask you a question?" Gerald sat up straight in front of Cameron.
Cameron gently cleared his throat.
“Who is the young lady on your lap?”
“My mate,” Cameron said flatly, his gaze fixed on Gerald.
The noise and shouting was deafening as Cameron declared that the little girl on his lap was his mate. Serena looked at Cameron with widened eyes, the man kept looking at Gerald coldly without caring about the expressions of the people around him.
“Oh, sorry!” Gerald woke up from his shock. “But, can I talk to her?” Gerald smiled, trying to calm down his feelings that were a little chaotic due to knowing information that he didn’t expect.
“Do you think she’s the woman you’re looking for?” asked Cameron as he gyrated his waist with his free hand. “Are you sure?”
Gerald froze when he noticed Cameron’s blue eyes staring at him.
“I’d like to speak with that little girl, Mr. Dagger, just to be sure!”
“If I don’t allow it?” Cameron asked with a faint smile.
Gerald returned Cameron's smile with a triumphant smile. "I know how possessive a werewolf can be to his mate, but having a quick chat with your mate, why would that be a problem?"
"I don't have a problem with that!" Cameron snorted dismissively. "What I do mind is..." Cameron trailed off as he lowered Serena's body. "... my faith in you! Sir Gerald, I can never trust a man who has ever broken a knight's oath of allegiance." Cameron emphasized his explanation.
Cameron glanced at Serena. Serena’s expression was so calm when dealing with the person who was hunting her.
“What did you want to discuss, sir?” asked Serena very calmly.
Gerald looked at Serena, then at the wolves and some of his troops. A woman with a grey wolf beside her shook her head. Gerald then turned his gaze to Serena.
“Looks like I got the wrong person; sorry for interrupting your day, Little Lady and Mr. Dagger!” Gerald gave a faint smile and respectful bow.
Gerald walked away from Serena and Cameron, towards the woman and the grey wolf.
"You'd better be careful!" Cameron looked at Serena, who gave him a sharp look.
"I didn't expect that man to go after me like a hungry beast." Serena snorted and smiled sadly as she turned around. "Even if it means using wild animals to get what he wants." Serena passed Cameron.
Cameron was speechless at Serena’s expression, which looked so miserable. The little girl’s face looked disappointed, angry, and sad. The man sighed as he walked parallel to Serena.
“No matter how he was in your past, he’s one of the people who mattered to you, Selene.”
Serena stopped walking when she heard Cameron call her by her real name. She also looked at Cameron. “Don’t interfere too much with human affairs, they’re so greedy, Cameron.” Serena looked at Cameron with a tense face.
