“They’re so stubborn!” Cameron grumbled all the way.
The scouting troops were still following them deep into the forest. It would be very difficult to escort Serena back to her castle. Moreover, the scouting troops kept a close eye on them.
It was already getting dark, the night was falling rapidly in autumn. Serena began to get cold, despite being covered with a robe, the little body began to shiver in Cameron's lap. She had been outside for too long. Raindrops began to fall, soaking both of their bodies.
“I had no intention of bringing you to my house, Selene, but those people are so stubborn!” Cameron exclaimed, his tone crisp.
Anxiety and worry were etched on Cameron's face.
"It-it's okay!" replied Serena with a shivering voice. She nuzzled her face against Cameron’s neck. Trying to seek warmth from the werewolf's neck. "I-I've been outside too long, Cam!" she said again. "And too long in this form, too."
“Is that why your body can’t handle the cold?” Cameron enquired frantically.
Serena slowly nodded.
“Gosh, why didn’t you say so earlier?” Cameron grumbled as he accelerated his pace towards somewhere. There was no other option, so Cameron quickly spread his wings and flew towards a cottage near the Dagger mansion.
Before they even entered the cottage, the rain began to fall slowly, becoming heavier and pouring down on them.
Cameron dashed into the house. He hurried to a room with a comfortable bed and a fireplace. Cameron took his robe off Serena’s body. Serena attempted to remove her clothes while Cameron lit the fireplace, her hands shivering from the cold.
He turned around to see Serena’s back covered only by her knee-length hair. The intoxicating scent teased him once more. Of course, the small body had already returned to its original shape.
Cameron was captivated by Serena’s slow movement toward the bed.
“The room will warm up soon, Selene; how are you feeling?” Cameron’s voice was hoarse. He fought the urge to lash out and make the woman moan beneath his body.
“A little, I just need to warm up my body under the blanket!” Serena replied softly while looking at Cameron over her shoulder.
Cameron flinched at Serena’s mischievous smile.
“Is my body so beautiful that you look at it like that, Cam?” Serena asked softly, barely audible.
Cameron sighed and smiled. He walked over to Serena while taking off his wet clothes.
"No more smooth skin of a princess Cameron, what do you expect from this deformed body?" Serena pulled her long hair in front of her body.
Cameron gasped. So many scars on that little back. There were beast scratch marks there. Sword slash marks and some small scars that looked new.
"I also never expected any man to propose to me even if I regained my throne." Serena turned around slowly.
Cameron widened his eyes. He noticed a burn mark from the woman's upper left arm to her chest. Large enough to the part where a baby could live by drinking the milk that dripped there.
“How-how did you get this badly injured?” Cameron couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
"Ten years on the run requires me to be physically and mentally strong, Cameron!" Serena turned around and approached the bed.
Cameron squeezed her hand and bit her lip. “Is it partly the werewolf’s doing too?”
"Well, you can see from how I tried to accept you as my Goddess-destined mate!" Serena stroked the soft mattress pad. Then, she slowly lifted her legs and climbed up. "Thank you, Cam! At least I can feel the comfort of this warm bed and blanket!"
Cameron smiled sadly, then he walked over to the bed and helped Serena to cover her body. The woman’s movements were slow and limping, like an old lady. Was this a side effect of using the Moon Goddess’ power?
“Why do you have wings, Cam?” asked Serena softly. Her eyes looked very sleepy but it seemed like her confusion at the sight of Cameron’s wings kept her from sleeping.
“You better get some rest Selene!” said Cameron as he stroked Serena’s leg.
Serena cleared her throat, soon her eyes began to close and she changed her sleeping position to the left.
"Has she fallen asleep yet?" A young man's voice could be heard from behind the closed door.
Cameron walked up to the door and opened it. A young man with red hair and sad eyes stood before him. His face looked tired, his hair as tangled as his clothes.
“Yeah, how about you, Damon?”
Cameron walked out of the room while closing the door.
“Bad, Uncle.” Damon laughed awkwardly while stroking the back of his neck.
Cameron sighed. Just as he set foot in his mother's residence, all he found was Damon, his nephew in heat. In pain like his father, screaming and moaning uncontrollably. Only accompanied by an omega werewolf, Damon's servant Harriet.

“What about your mate?” Cameron walked towards the main room with the fireplace that was starting to dim.
Cameron picked up the firewood beside the fireplace and threw it into the fire. The air in the room slowly warmed up. Damon flopped down onto the settee as he picked up a book and read.
"No, don't talk about that woman!" Damon sniggered while covering his face with the open book. "Damn it, that woman should have accepted my rejection." The young man got up irritably while slamming his book. "Just a few words 'Yes, I accept your rejection'. What's so hard about those few words?" Damon screeched in frustration as he ruffled his hair.
Cameron, who was sitting in a chair by the fireplace, laughed sadly at Damon’s behavior. His eldest nephew’s demeanor was strikingly similar to that of his parents. His stature was calm, like Shia’s, and he had a high self-esteem, like Rollo. Who would have guessed that Damon could be as grumpy as he Is today?
“May I ask who she is?” Cameron folded his legs.
“Vampire.” Damon looked at Cameron with a flat stare.
The man was rooted to his seat. Cameron’s eyes widened and his hands squeezed the arms of his chair tightly.
“Florina Draconescu, daughter of vampire nobleman Eric Draconescu.” Damon rubbed his face. He looked so frustrated with his current situation.
Cameron snorted and then burst out laughing. The man laughed while covering his face with his hands.
Damon looks intently at Cameron’s frustrated expression.
"Looks like the Goddess is up to something," Damon said as he regained his position. His tone of voice was suspicious. "Is the era of werewolves and vampires coming to an end, Uncle?" Damon muttered as he covered his face with a book.
Cameron cleared his throat. The werewolf and vampire populations had both been declining since the Great War 400 years ago. However, the human population and their territories were expanding. In fact, many werewolves became royal dogs simply to survive the harshness of their lives in the wild.
Five of Whiteland’s seven packs have collapsed, leaving only the two largest packs, Burnash and Lunar, and smaller packs scattered throughout the land.
According to rumors among the werewolves, Kai Hunter, the Alpha of the Burnash pack, was also working with Emperor Anthony for unknown reasons. Kai Hunter, on the other hand, is not a weak alpha who will submit to a human dictator like Anthony.
Cameron hisses as he rubs his brow. Damon peered out from behind his book at Cameron. His eyes seemed to be asking a question. Cameron made an annoyed expression at his nephew.
“If you have a question, just ask!” Cameron snorted and grumbled.
“Who is she?” Damon inquired as he lifted the book in his face and resumed reading. “Don’t tell me! Your mate?”
“Yeah!”
“What? How is this possible?” Damon laughed so hard that he grabbed his stomach and lifted his leg.
“Shut up!” Cameron picked up a piece of wood near his chair and threw it at Damon, striking him in the arm.
Damon had stopped laughing, but his pale face still bore a smile.
“I was not expecting it! You’ll meet your match when you’re your age, Uncle.”
“Who would’ve guessed? The Moon Goddess frequently tells bad jokes, such as you being reunited with a vampire noble princess, Damon!”
Damon paused, sighed, and resumed his reading.
“I just didn’t expect your self-reliant principles to be entwined in a petty romance like in the novel.” Damon let out a snort. “Cameron Dagger, the White Rogue known as the Lunar Pack’s playboy and favored by both female werewolves and humans, has finally found his fated mate. Irony.”
Damon’s words made Cameron roll his eyes. He used to be known as a werewolf who liked to switch sleeping partners, until an unexpected incident a few years ago caused him to decide to wander. It involved his relationship with a female werewolf escalating to the point of murdering several pack members.
"Not to mention that insane woman you went on a rampage with, Uncle!" Damon hissed angrily.
"Damon, that woman is a thing of the past. That cunning woman who had no intention of forcing me to drink poison made from wolfsbane flowers!" Cameron chuckled at his irritating past.
Damon chuckled as he remembered the incident from decades ago.
Suddenly, the room fell silent. Cameron got up from his seat and picked up the firewood because he could only hear the sound of burning wood. He threw at least three pieces of firewood into the fire to add warmth to the room.
“You should add some firewood to your roommate’s room as well!” Damon sighed, putting the book over his face.
Cameron entered Serena’s room without making a sound. His feet abruptly stopped moving, and he turned around.
“Hei, Damon. Is my nose crooked?”
“Huh?” Damon jumped out of bed and looked at Cameron with wide eyes and a puzzled expression.
