Before we were officially dismissed, Mrs. Aiko handed us our school ID cards, which will be required for a lot of activities on the campus.

I looked at my student ID, which had my picture on it. Actually, observing it now, I could have at least cracked a smile or something in the picture. I look like I was forced to pose for it via gunpoint by the camera man.

Sigh. I mean, I can't just storm into the admissions office and demand a new one, right? You know what? I may "accidently" lose this one so I can retake the picture.

In the corner of my eye, I saw Minori writing in her notebook again.  I wonder what she is jotting down?

I would personally ask her, but I don't think I want to be potentially brushed off. That just might hurt my ego.

I left the classroom and headed towards the direction of the dorms.

The dormitories were to the east of the campus. It consisted of several buildings, each 5 stories high. They were meant to be our homes for the next 3 years and my castle of peace as I build towards the future.

It was coed, so you could end up with an attractive student as your neighbor if you're lucky, or you could end up with a terrible neighbor if Lady Luck decided to ignore you like a bitter girlfriend after winning your first argument against her.

The school didn't ban students of the opposite sex from going into each other's dorm rooms, but they did set certain ground rules, such as no company after 10pm, along with the expected no sex rule, but let's be real here, there are things you can't stop students from partaking in. That would probably include myself if I was ever given the chance.

I entered the dorm building I was assigned to. I stood on the first floor, where the receptionists were stationed.

The ambience felt like your run-of-the-mill office setting, complete with potted plants, vending machines, and an elevator.

My room was situated on the 5th floor, but I elected to take the stairs over the lift due to the fact that the area there was a bit crowded.

After walking up the stairs, I was on the fourth floor.

After giving an awkward wave of my hand. I continued up the last flight of stairs.

I repeated "Room 115, Room 155" in my head while scanning the different door numbers.

After a bit, I found the door with the room number I was looking for.

Using my student ID as a wireless key, I passed it over the scanner next to the door and it opened.

Since there was a spike in funding, they decided to go all out with some things. Still, I would have preferred a traditional key.

Still, it makes me wonder how the school was when my grandfather applied to work here. From what he told me, it was like a dream come  through in the form of a educational institute. So far, I am wide awake in this school called dream. The only thing worth a mention would be the class clash revelation. Am I looking at it from the wrong angle or something?

At the same time, the door to room 154 swung open, and to my surprise, it was Minori Takeda. Of course, it was her. The universe is practically begging us to be friends. Well, that is what it feels like now.

She instantly noticed me and, in a quick motion, made a U-Turn back into her dorm room.

She said, slightly leaving the door ajar now, "Are you following me or something?"

In a dry tone, I replied, "Ah yes, I Yuki Amaya proudly admit to stalking Minori Takeda because I have nothing better to do."

She fully opened the door and said, "The sarcasm wasn't necessary."

"Well it won't be necessary if you avoid asking me dumb questions. It is an easy fix. "

Minori complained, "Great, I have to sit next to you in class and now we have to live next to each other."

I turned my door handle. "Can't you see I am thrilled about it as well? I am practically bursting with excitement."

After that lovely chat with my new neighbor Minori , the first things I checked were the lights and the water, as they were the necessities needed for a comfortable stay.

I would estimate that the room was 200 square feet, which is basically your typical dorm room with your own private kitchen and bathroom.

The bed, which is a single person size, is tucked into the corner right next to the window. To the left, there is a laptop on a small desk. Just next to the desk would be my small closet.  I didn't bring many clothes with me, so I'll most likely have to buy some new ones when the time comes.

I scanned the room even more and noticed that there was an AC unit.

I am surprised they even included one of those. The power bill for this school must be sky high. Then again, the ultra wealthy sponsors footing the bill so might as well take advantage of the situation.

I could safely say not having any roommates was a huge bonus as well.

I couldn't see myself coexisting with anyone else right now.

Having someone else around would most likely ruin my peaceful space I was trying to create.

Then, with how this school is operating, I highly doubt my peace will last for very long.

Pitting classes against each other under the guise of providing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to the top class.

Apart from the pampered education they received for free, the second, third, and fourth ranked received nothing.

It doesn't sound too bad when I think about it. It's still a win-win situation in my book.

Wanting to be the best is something most people aspire to achieve.

Personally, I didn't see the point in all of it.

I'd rather just do well enough to get by. All this struggle to prove one's superiority over the other was just nonsensical to me.

Then again, maybe I am just looking at it the wrong way.

Right now, I should be following my grandmother's request for me to enjoy my school experience but unfortunately that opposes the task my grandfather set for me while I am in here.
