October 1st
It's early into the afternoon, and the class we're supposed to have right now is mathematics. I wouldn't say it was the most boring subject out there, but to me it is on the list.
The bell that recommences the start of classes rang, and in walked Miss Aiko, right on cue, but she didn't come alone. There was an exam monitor with her.
Another quiz? So do we get tested on the first week of every month? Or is this just another coincidence? No, it can't be. The school would never operate like that.
"Ok, Class 1-4, put all your books away and prepare yourselves. There is going to be a surprise quiz."
The students started to murmur amongst themselves.
She gave one of the front row students the stack of papers and said, "Take one and pass it along."
That process was repeated until it finally reached my desk.
We weren't allowed to turn the page until the exam started, so I observed the first page and noticed that all of the questions looked familiar.
Heh? Are they giving us repeated questions?
Ichiyo must have noticed it as well, because he excitedly remarked that the quiz was about to be a breeze.
The rest of the class picked it up as well, and for once they were pumped about an exam.
Miss Aiko didn't say anything and took her seat.
Alright, that gesture just symbolizes that there's a storm brewing.
Our teacher just silently observed the class before saying, "This quiz is just to gauge whether or not you have improved in your academics since coming here. Traditional rules are now in effect and the pass mark is 50%. So you may now begin."

Why is the pass mark so low if they are just giving us repeated questions?
I flipped through the rest of the test and realized that they had baited us into relaxing by putting repeating questions from the entrance exam on the front page and then making the rest of the exam completely different.
From what I saw when I looked around the class, everyone seemed a bit dispirited by this new discovery. Whoever set this test is just trying to mess with us.
There are forty questions in total, and the marks for each question are randomly dispersed throughout the test. Some of the easier questions are worth more marks than some of the harder ones.
The middle questions in the exam are at least year 2 going into year 3 questions. We wouldn't be able to solve it just yet. Are the board of directors trolling us?
Minori appeared to be doing well in this exam, as her pencil had been moving nonstop since the exam began.
I decided on what I should do and began the exam.
About 30 minutes later, I left my seat in order to hand in my exam.
Minori slightly glanced at my paper and had a slightly puzzled look on my face.
I approached Miss Aiko's desk, and she seemed not too surprised to see me.
I gave her my exam paper and she placed it on the desk.
"Since you're done, you can leave. So please don't disturb the class when you do."
