Today could be considered one of the slowest days in class. Miss Aiko was teaching something along the lines of history, and I couldn’t stop myself from zoning in and zoning out of the lesson.

I wouldn’t call it boring, but I almost fell asleep on myself numerous times.

I had the grade points to burn, so losing 5 of them wouldn't be a life-altering mistake.

I only occasionally get poked with a blue ballpoint pen by the one and only Minori in an attempt to keep me awake.

*Poke*

I gave zero response to the poking sensation.

A few seconds later,

*Poke*

"Stop sleeping in class, you slacker."

Maybe if I ignore her, she will go away, but then again, she could stab me with the pen. Should I take this gamble?

I think not.

"It’s hard," I complained, with my eyes barely open.

Miss Aiko silently crept up towards me while rolling up a notebook, then smacked me on the head with it.

I was jolted awake and almost fell out of my seat.

"You should be paying more attention to the lesson, Mr. Amaya."

Some of my classmates laughed at my reaction. Well, I may have to assume the role of class clown now. Look at me switching school social careers right in the middle of the term, almost like a Uni student who runs into that one class and decides that their degree choice isn't for that anymore.

Minori looked at me and shook her head. She had a look on her face. The look was basically telling me, "I told you so."

I groaned, then put my head on the desk.

"Sleep at home," said Miss Aiko, again hitting me with the notebook

I looked up at her, "Ok, that one really hurt."

I did sleep at home, but thinking back on it, my nap was only like 2 hours. So that factor mixed with a lullaby that is called this lesson is basically calling for me to take a power nap right here and right now.

"Once again, you should pay attention because this may come in the midterms, which are in a few weeks."

Huh, midterms already? Time really waits on no man.

I slowly raised my head, then reclined in my seat and exhaled.

Miss Aiko walked forward to the front of the class again, then placed the notebook she smacked me with moments ago on the teacher's desk.

"The scores for the recent quiz you took should be released to you very shortly."

Oh yeah, the quiz results. I was so preoccupied with doing absolutely nothing that I nearly had a lapse in memory.

Each of our phones began to get a notification as if Miss Aiko possessed God-level timing.

She gave us permission to check and then returned to her seat.

I pulled my phone from my left pants pocket and input the password.

There was a small bell icon next to the Grade Points application. I tapped on it, and the application immediately opened up.

Name: Yuki Amaya

*Class: 1-4

Student ID: 11992899-4.

Total Grade Points: 110

Hmm, 110 grade points in total, which means I got a 60 on the last exam. That's directly on the pass or fail line.

Ichiyo exclaimed, "I got a 48! That's way more than I expected."

Uh, alright then...

Seishiro replied to his statement, "You do know the pass mark is 60, right?"

Ichiyo instantly shot back, "Well, how much did you get, captain Brainiac?"

Seishiro nervously laughed, "I got a 54."

"Well, that's not too far off from me, so we're in the same boat."

Arisu sighed and said, "If Ichiyo says something like that, then you may have to reevaluate your intelligence, Seishiro."

Seishiro had a defeated look on his face. Well, I can safely say that Arisu is the one who potentially runs things in their relationship if she manages to shut him down with a simple comment like that.

Minori placed her phone back into her skirt pocket and asked me, "What did you get?"

"I got a 59. Basically, I failed."

I noticed Miss Aiko side-eyed me while I said that.

Minori sighed and said, "This class feels hopeless."

"How much did you get?"

She proudly puffed her chest and replied, "I got an 84 and it appears that only a handful of students actually scored above the pass mark."

With that being said, we confirmed the rest of everyone's scores.

Maiya Murata had a score of 66.

Eiko Tsuyoshi had a score of 80.

Ryoko Hisoka had a score of 66.

Arisu Harigae had a score of 70.

Kiyo Orito had a score of 69.

Tori Nakazawa had a score of 72.

Kai Suzuki had a score of 51.

Yujiro Masaki didn't want to tell us what he got, but Eiko finally wore him down into revealing his score. It turns out he got a solid 74.

Well, it turns out that our class did pretty alright for this one, but if we were to take into account the official pass mark the rest of the classes are held to, which is 80, only two of our students actually cleared the exam.

Miss Aiko leaned forward while still sitting and asked, "How do you feel about seeing those scores?"

Ryoko spoke for the class and said, "We are all in agreement that we still have a long way to go."

Seishiro scratched the back of his head and replied, "I'll have to agree with Ryoko on that point."

The rest of the class thought so as well. Ichiyo, on the other hand, was content with his current grade. He got a 40 in the entrance exam, so he considers a 48 a sort of progression, which I'll have to agree with partly. Who knows, maybe he will get a 50 on his next exam.

Miss Aiko noticed the effort Ryoko made when it came to speaking in regards to the students and said, in a curious tone, "Should I assume that Ryoko Hisoka has taken up the leadership role in class?"

Eiko's usually happy expression slightly turned grim when she heard that. I turned my head towards her and her expression turned back into one of happiness.

I guess she has to maintain her image of being the happy student of our class, but it's obvious that she may have an issue with Ryoko Hisoka potentially becoming our leader.

Ryoko immediately said, "We haven't decided on that as yet."

"Hmm, that's such a shame. Other classes have already established their student leadership figures. Why must this class be the ones who are left behind once again? However, I shouldn't be asking that question because it's quite obvious, this experimental class is shaping up to be what the board of directors concluded it to be. A group of inferior students who can't adjust to a superior environment.

The entire class became quiet after hearing that.

Minori had a face of anger as she heard those words. Was she angry on behalf of the class or was it a personal one? It must be difficult for a person who thinks of themselves as superior to be lumped in with us inferior students.

The bell rang, and class was dismissed.

I grabbed my bag and began to head out of class. Miss Aiko stopped me.

"Mr. Amaya I would like to have a word with you due to some concerns in regards to your exams."

Minori's ears perked up a little when she heard that

Oh, what can this be about? Did I forget to properly explain a few things or something?

I replied, "Sure, no problem. It's not like I can refuse, haha."

The classroom was finally empty and it was just the two of us.

Miss Aiko closed the door behind the last student to leave and replied, "Now let's discuss a few of my concerns."
