It was around 6 in the evening, so the environment was quiet. Dead was the correct word to describe it.

Barely a soul in sight, as I made my way to the roof of the school.

I walked up each step one by one as I felt the tension. This was the meeting page requested by the person who messaged me.

Finally, up the stairs, I opened the door to the roof and spotted the person.

As I made my way over to her, I observed the sunset.

The pale tint of orange engulfed the clear sky, with a couple of birds completing Mother Nature's artistic setting.

It almost reminded me of an oil painting I had seen once in my childhood.

Taking a deep breath, greedily inhaling the air as if the only thing that needed oxygen to survive was me.

I said, "What do you want, Minori?"

She stood next to the railing of the roof and asked, "What's your opinion of me?"

I stood on the opposite side of her and replied, "I do believe you are a capable person, but your class placement is warranted."

She glared at me with eyes filled with ignorance.

I sighed and leaned my upper body on the railing and looked out towards the school's campus.

Minori replied, "So you're spewing that non-sense as well?"

I was getting a bit annoyed at her attitude and decided that I needed to be assertive.

In a harsh tone of voice, I said, "It's far from nonsensical. Your blatant ignorance of the other people around you is why you won't have a chance against them out there. No matter how much intelligence you have, you're just another inferior student, just like the others in the class."

Her fuse was lit and she just snapped, with an attempt to slap me for so-called insulting her.

I easily caught her wrist as the slap got closer to my face and tightened my grip on it, somewhat causing her some slight pain.

I didn't want to hurt her, but with the way she's acting, it will be the only way for her to calm down.

"Let go of my arm," she protested.

I said, "I need you to stay quiet."

She became quiet and glared at me even more, unsure what to do. Maybe she is surprised by my sudden change in personality.

"Minori Tadeka, I don't want you as an enemy."

"Huh, what do you mean?"

I released my grip on her wrist and said, "It means exactly what I said. We both have similar interests. You want to win, and I hate to lose."

She rubbed the wrist that had recently been released and replied, "What are you getting at?"

"I want you to work with me as we achieve your goal of pushing our class to the top of things. To do that, you'll be required to follow my orders."

"Do you think you're better than me?"

I snickered at that statement.

"Thoughts give way to actions, so observe what I do, then formulate your own answer."

She smashed her hand on the top of the railing and said, "So everything I analyzed about you and wrote down in my notebook is incorrect."

"Possibly"

As we both overlooked the campus grounds, Minori asked, "So what is fueling this change in attitude?"

"Self Interest."

Both of us kept quiet after that comment.

Superior vs. Inferior is the name of the game we're currently playing. It has always been that way since we arrived at this school. That very thing was staring me directly in the face, but I refused to see it, blinded by my optimistic desire for a relaxing school life. The ugly truth is that I require a peaceful environment in order to have peace of mind, but this school isn't very welcoming to us.

We are just a big experiment for them. A massive what if. However, I refuse to accept it. I refuse to be looked down on because of the school's perception of us. This entire situation is set up so we can lose in the end. Unfortunately, I am a sore loser, so I tend to steer clear of that irritating four-letter word.

Saikoyo Prep's system of rewarding the superior while discarding the inferior will be taken apart by me. I don't care which methods or tactics I have to use. Going against other classes will not make me falter because they will be used as rungs of a ladder until I can reach the board of directors and make them acknowledge us in a praiseworthy light. Class 1-4 will be triumphant after all this is said and done.
