Everyone continued staring at the girl while she frantically scoured every nook and cranny of her school bag.
Mr. Madoka asked in a concerned tone of voice, "Miss Ichigo Shoji, is everything OK there?"
Ichigo turned her head to face him and said, "Mr. Madoka, someone stole my wallet."
Heh? Someone really did that? Or did she just drop it somewhere?
A male student from her class asked, "Where was the last place you had it?"
Ichigo pointed to her school bag and replied, "I don't normally carry it around with me, so I leave it in my bag the majority of the time without any issues, until today."
Hmm. It's pretty risky to do that in the first place, then divulge the information. She will have to permanently carry it on her person at all times now.
The joint class started looking around at each other.
Mr. Madoka took a seat and observed the matter. He wasn't allowed to intervene in the issue due to the school rule of us having to solve issues on our own, but he was still allowed to be an overseer of the matter to ensure it didn't get out of hand.
Every student still looked at each other with great suspicion. I mean, who wants to be sitting next to a thief, especially when you have your own valuables?
"Somebody really stole her wallet?" one person asked.
Another added, "Really a wallet thief on the first day of class?"
I noted how each person who spoke up was a member of her class while our class stayed silent. I already have an idea of where this is heading.
With every comment a classmate made, it was like pouring more gasoline on this tiny flicker. It was bound to turn into a forest fire.
Was it turning into a bigger issue than it really was, or am I just downplaying the situation because it didn’t involve me?
A male student got up and introduced himself as Obanai Morita.
Obanai was the first person to point fingers at our class by saying, "It's obvious that someone from that wasteland of a class stole it."
The majority of his class agreed with his statement.
Eiko stood up and politely said, "I don't think we should point fingers at any single class as yet. There are still three possible scenarios. The first is that you accidently dropped it somewhere; the second is that one of your classmates is playing a prank on you by hiding it; and the last one, which I hope isn't true, is that someone intentionally stole your wallet."
Kaya Harumi replied, "That's correct. Let's not be too hasty and point fingers."
Kaya is more level-headed than I thought. I assumed that she would be riding this class 1-4 hate train.
Eiko thanked her for agreeing with the statement and took her seat.
Obanai looked a bit annoyed and took a seat.
Reizo seemed a bit displeased with Kaya for seemingly staying neutral on the matter. So he got up and walked to the front of the class.
He looked at Ichigo and said, "Where was the last confirmed place you had it?"
Ichigo, who seemed very distressed about the entire situation, replied in a somber tone of voice, "I had it right here. It has everything inside of it. My debit card, my loose cash, and my student ID. Without any of those, I won't be able to function in school."
I was starting to feel a little bit bad for her because if I had my wallet stolen, I would probably be going on a wallet retrieval mission, God of War style.
Reizo glared at us and said, "No one from our class would ever do that to one of our own, so that leaves all 30 of you as possible suspects."
Obanai joined Reizo and pressed the matter even more, "No one leaves here until we find out."
Ichiyo replied, "Uh, whatever is happening here isn't our fault, so I'll be damned if I stay locked in a room while you play detective."
Yuudai Hori shot a glare at Ichiyo and said, "Are you saying that because you're the one behind it?"
Ichiyo had a defensive look on his face, and he adamantly denied anything to do with that.
Minori side-eyed me as she attempted to analyze the situation as well. I observed that she had her phone out, typing down the details.
I looked at the rest of my classmates who were afraid to speak up. Where did they just get afraid of the possible repercussions that might occur if they did? After all, we aren't exactly welcome in this school where trying to fight back may result in something bad.

This may take a while. So I pulled out my phone in order to check the time.
Asuka stayed silent as she observed the entire situation unfolding. Sigh, this is such a pain right now and it will get worse if they attack the point I think they will.
Reizo chuckled and said, "I just figured out how we can find the person who did take Ichigo's wallet. If we go off the theory that she had it in her bag while she went on the 15-minute break Mr. Madoka gave us, it is only plausible that the theft occurred during that break. Which brings me to the question of, "Who were the students in the classroom while everyone went out?"
The two male students who I saw earlier raised their hands.
"Ok, so Shiro Iseri and Satoshi Iseri."
Satoshi said, "We stayed back in the classroom to finish up the rest of the equations. However, we weren't by ourselves. A student from 1-4 was there as well."
Yuudai Hori joined Reizo in the front of the class and folded his arms.
"Hmm, I see. Who is the student?"
Shiro pointed in the direction of Yujiro Masaki.
The majority of the class looked at Yujiro, who kept silent.
Satoshi continued, "After a while, we left the classroom, so only he was left in it."
Reizo shook his head and replied, "I knew it was a bad idea to have this joint class. If we allow ourselves to be around them for too long, we may become tainted."
Tainted? Who the hell does this guy think he is, saying things like that?
Yujiro finally spoke up and said, in a harsh tone of voice, "I didn't take anything."
Yuudai glared at him and asked, "You were the only person in the classroom, unless one of you has the power to turn invisible."
Eiko stood up in defense of Yujiro and said, "Yujiro may be a bit detached from our class, but he doesn't look like the type to steal."
Reizo took a step forward and said, "Eiko Tsuyoshi. You're a well-liked and respected person in our year group due to your friendliness and kind nature. So we will consider your opinion on this person."
Eiko replied, "Than-"
She was cut off mid-sentence by Reizo, who raised his hand.
"Let me finish because you thank me. We will consider your opinion on it, but are you willing to put your reputation on the line and vouch for his complete innocence?"
Eiko paused for a bit, and Reizo attacked that slight moment of hesitation.
"You see, even Eiko is unable to stake her reputation on the line for him."
Tori tried to add something into the fray that could help turn the tides in our favor.
"What about the cameras? I am sure they picked up the person who took it."
Yuudai Hori shook his head in disappointment, "You class 1-4 students are as blind as you are dim. There aren't any cameras in here."
Tori kept quiet.
Reizo sighed and said, "If he doesn't want to cough up the wallet, then we'll have to take you to student court and have a penalty passed down on your class. Let's say half of your current class points go to us. That seems pretty fair for the action you committed. After all, purloining is against the rules of the school."
They are trying to force us into giving up half of our already meager class points and, more importantly, we have a student court? That's news to me.
