[Half a day later]

"I think I got it now!" Ava was happy as she held her first stable construct up. We were lucky to find a giant field of bamboo on the other side of this island. We had to purely rely on ropes made out of long, thick grass to keep everything together. While I was responsible for the bamboo and grass supply Ava was trying to work out how to use that stuff.

I was way faster than her, so there were two giant piles lying around, and I just sat on a rock watching her. "I wish I could help you but, these paws are really useless for holding tools..." I was still frustrated. 'Even if I had a phone right now, I couldn't even use it!' I was watching my friend working as my eyelids slowly closed and I drifted back into a peaceful sleep. 'Why is watching other people work always so exhausting?'

[Later]

I jumped up as I heard something fall to the ground, "Sorry, didn't want to wake you up, although I could need some help here!" I rushed over to her. "What even is this?" I looked at the constructs lying on the floor. "Ohhh..." I didn't recognize them as they were lying on the floor, but I could make out the shape of stairs, or rather ladders made for using them as stairs.

"Why you need those?" "Well I mean I could also wake me up to get from on ledge to the other in the middle of the night. She grinned. "What do I need to do?" "Can you grab one of those things and fly with it between over there? I'll go on one side and fix it" "Ok, let's go then"

I jumped on the bamboo stair, grabbed it and flew to the place Ava told me. It was quite exhausting holding it in place for that long, but after some time I could let go of it, and it didn't fall. Just out of curiosity, I landed on it. "WOW! This thing is really well-built!" I gasped as it didn't even bend as I stood on it. "Well, it's bamboo"

[After hours of tiring work]

"A BED!" Ava jumped on the self-made mattress. "Not as comfortable as I hoped, but better than stone!" She said as she closed her eyes. I looked back at hour work. 'Looks like the inside of an elf tree, but out of stone'  I thought. There were stairs and bridges everywhere, but Ava made sure there was a big area with nothing in it so that i could fly around.

We managed to redirect some of the water to run into a small artificial pond so we always had water. We made sure to use all the room we had so the living area was basically the whole inside of the mountain, there were storage areas, many empty, but cleaned caves, a work area and a general living area with a closet, a cooking place and Ava's bed.

"Where did you learn to do all this?" "I once watched a documentary about how bamboo was used to build things and why it was so stable, for the rest I just tried" She shrugged. I sniffed the air "You should look after your fish" I said. "Shit!" She quickly grabbed it off the fire but the underside was already crusty black.

"I'd eat it for you" I looked at her with puppy eyes. "You ate like two ships worth of fish just an hour ago!" She gulped the fish down. "But something different from fish would be nice... at least once a week" She sighted and lied back on her bed. "I could use some sleep too" I jumped on the big black stone next to her which I insisted to carry in here as I noticed how well it retains heat. It was still warm and I heated it up about two hours ago.

As I made myself comfortable, I could already hear Ava's cute snoring. "Finally were... WHAT?" Both of us jumped up as One of the barricades we installed in a hole, which was at the side of the mountain to keep the warm air in shattered. A deadly Nader fell into the inside and crashed with Ava's construct to the ground.

"That shit was the hardest to install!" Ava screamed in anger and I had to agree with her. We almost tore down another bridge as we tried to get it there save TWICE. "Where in god's sake did that come from?" I jumped straight down to the ground while Ava was hurrying down the stairs.

"I need to install one of these firefighter poles here..." she grumbled. The deadly Nader was heavy breathing but already back on her feet. She looked at me. "Why is human here with you?" She bared her teeth at Ava, who just came down the last set of stairs. "If it annoys you, why don't you just go!" Ava screamed at the deadly Nader. "But first you get us some new wood to repair the shit you just tore down" I hissed at her.

The Nader was silent as she stared at Ava. "She answered me...?" "Of course I answered you, I'm not stupid!" Ava defended herself before she stopped. We slowly looked at each other as it hit us both. "We need to have an extended talk about this..." She said.

For the last days we just normally talked like we did all the years before, without realizing that in theory a human shouldn't be able to talk with a dragon. Ava switched into actress mode and let all hints of shock disappear from her face. "But what are you doing here?" She asked the intruder, while I was still processing all this.
