[Ruby's POV]

Over the last days it had become a lot more crowded in here, but I liked it. Ava had some trouble explaining that the bridges were not meant to sleep on at first, but after a while everyone got it. Well... except for the kids, of course. And then there was this awkward moment where suddenly all the dragons gathered around me. I never liked much attention but that was another level. But I guess I am an alpha now?

"IT IS TIME!" Ava screamed through the whole mountain. "What?" I jumped into her workshop, which had rapidly grown over the last days. On the table was a big leather thing with straps and something that looked like a bag pack with a big piece of sewed materials lying next to it. "Some of the dragons here were wearing saddles, so I made something new out of them!"

Apparently, many of those dragons were once captured and manged to flee, but they still had the saddles the dragon hunters tried to train them with. "Why does this look so much like Toothless'?" I asked her as I noticed the metal parts on the side. She pointed at her boot, which had some sort of constructions with springs and metal on it. "If you don't want me to grab your ears you'll have to get used to that" She giggled.

"And I guess that's...." "My parachute" She finished my sentence. "Today is the day"

[A few minutes later]

"Don't tell me you're scared all of a sudden!" I said to Ava, who looked down at the ocean. She wanted to jump down there seven minutes ago, but she still didn't do it. "You know it's pretty high" I could feel her gripping onto the handles of the saddle. "Let's go back, I think I need to do something"

[Two day's later]

"So what exactly is different this time?" I asked her, as she seemed more confident. "I tried to recreate Hiccup's flying suit" I grinned. "And that makes you feel safer?" "I at least know a few things about how airplane wings work, so why not give it a try?" "So where is your jet engine then?" I asked. "Funny..." Ava rolled her eyes.

"Well... I guess here we go" "Are you sure you want to..." I felt her weight shifting to one side shortly before her weigh was completely gone off my back. "HELLO!!" I saw her fly beneath me. I glided down to her height. "WHERE'S YOUR PARACHUTE?" I asked her. "It's on the back. Now I noticed that there seemingly was something stored in the back of her suit. "And I used the leftover space for some extra  lift"

And indeed there were two small, wooden plane like wings sticking out of the back of her suit. I shook my head. "Well, at least you trust your creations with your life... huh?" As I looked back, she was gone already. Then I hear that annoying sound again. "Ok, I got it!" I folded in my wings and dove straight down. I got closer to the falling Ava, who retracted the wings of her suit.

"Like this?" I flew right next to her and with a pirouette motion the extended spike of her shoe connected with the thing on my saddle and I opened my wings, slowing as down. "IT WORKED" She screamed. "And your parachute?" "Getting that thing in there were hours worth of work, and I'm not doing that again unless my life depends on it.

"What?" We both heard a dragon roar in the distance. "Oh shit..." In the distance were ships shooting down dragons with nets.
