24. Noosfera: World of Comfort—End: Continue (7)

Greysong had opened her eyes, but she was left in a state where she couldn’t move. Her corporeal had pushed to warp the birthing of her Individualistic-calling, and as a result, she placed too much of a burden on her body. Because of that, Scordi ended up looking after her. That being the case, naturally, the only one who could go out and work was me. I went to the guild’s reception counter, and together with Camila, I chose a request to accept.

They were all physical labour intensive jobs. Requiring a certain level of Noumancy.

Noumenon jobs are listed by a specific rank: [Novice], [Intermediate], [Expert], [Advanced], [Continental] and [World Class].

Novice jobs—are simply, like using a Water-calling to grow someone's crops, or help someone make a sigil array with Light-calling. Intermediate jobs—tend to be a little more intensive, like clearing out a Minusfolk horde, or building a structure using Earth-calling. These are the jobs and Scordi and I had been doing the most.

Advanced jobs—involved the peak surge of First-tier Callings, something—since I have never entered education—I didn't truly understand, so Scordi usually did these sort of jobs herself.

Continental jobs—as it suggests, is dealing with a Continental wide issue, these jobs are the ones large parties dealt with. The Avant Guard of my father allocated with a Continental wide issue—which is why they came to face the Omega Force—a [Rogue-party]. Considered to be the source of many warps outside of Vile Vortices done by the Omega Force gofers who longed to accelerate us to the Shapeless, and then there's—World Class jobs—which are usually multi-sphere, having Guild's and parties from other spheres get tangled such as—G-Force. An issue that can cause 'planetary devastation' as Scordi put it.

"Choose whatever job you want Nodin," said Camila. Observing our exchange, the second in command for Volos GEM's presented himself.

"Mayor Vince, hello," I said.

"I'm no longer Mayor of Sandnath's Nodin, just call me Vince, and Camila , you’re an advisor, are you not? I do think there’s a problem with your request selection being influenced by your personal sentiment," said Vince.

Camila shot back. "Don’t be so cruel, Boss. With that, you’re making it sound as if I chose nothing but intense requests to get some petty revenge. Even when I selected these ones keeping Nodin’s sake in mind."

It was noon—the second floor was just us, most [Novice] and [Intermediate] jobs taken by other Noumenon-Nomads. But from the array lined up, I chose the one that looked the hardest. Seeing that, Camila’s eyebrows twitched a little. I uninterestedly signed and accepted by touch. "Even like this, I’ve got the livelihoods of two others on my back. I can’t really go around not working."

"That one's a little too hard, there should be other parties present for that. Nonetheless, I would like to go with Nodin just case. Can I Mr Vince?" Camila asked.

Vince smiled. "Your worried about him. Then I can't say no."

"Thank you." Camila politely bowed.

We exited Volos's city.

"Time to collect the organs." I saw other Noumenon approach the forest. I cocked my ears to the sounds around me.

"Did you hear? The remaining Vile Vortex has expanded." The Noumenon—what appeared to be a party of four talked amongst themselves.

"If that’s true, Volos would have a hell of a lot of Noumenon already dispatched there," the other replied.

"Well the guild was quiet busy in the morning." From what I gather from the Noumenon-Nomad party, it looked like a new Vile Vortex manifested—an expansion. If they were left alone, [Vile Vortex 'Nexus'] the other term for an expansion would continue to grow in size. They were nests that continued to spew out not only Minusfolk but warped creatures. Volos had conquered most of it and made this his city, but it continued to expand even without the Point Core fragment, the other option—this is Volos' intention.

I recalled what his cousin, Mayor Vince of Sandnath said, Volos 'likes the inversion principles', looking at the worst destination to solve current problems.

Another party member spoke. "I know what he's saying is right, I saw it, they're even getting help from Sandnath."

Even though the Nexus wouldn't produce many bothersome warped creature like that rabbit, if they were left alone for a long enough time, they would produce a significant number that could invade. Like Volos city—There were other settlements that only existed because of the resources found from the Minusfolk who controlled their small Vile Vortex Nexus. But such communities only possess the management skills necessary for a short while. Eventually joining with big guilds and instructed to proceed with extreme caution, that's how Volos got his fortress and eventually city. In Terra, Vile Vortex Nexus' often are conquered as soon as they were found. The guild leaders give prizes for clearing them, giving Noumenon more reason for their Surgem to improve unlike Thunderland, as titles are given—more Union can be vouched for.

The party leader told. "We might get a title for clearing, let's go full Aurora!" he exclaimed. The party members eager. Witnessing this side of the Terra sphere I realised it was far more driven than Thunderland, the people here were hungry for a fray, a reason to fray and what Junius expressed all those years ago was right.

The old men warned me to be careful.

("He's got this.") It was odd to her Crete this confident in me, it's Grandpa Wodan who usually has the encouraging words, but hearing another forefather vouch, the one who suffered the most was assuring. The tinge of anxiousness I had, gone.

Over the woodland, there was a deafening roar. After the earthquake, the enormous trees in the area either collapsed or broke. Even the areas closer to the explosion's epicentre were instantaneously reduced to mere charcoal.

The Noumenon-Nomads ran in directly to the trouble.

Out of everyone that suddenly ran to, a recognisable face. Camila was ahead, I thought she was several steps behind me as I waited for her to catch up. But now—I was the one who began my follow of her. She ran in front of everyone else—leaps and bounds faster.

Surging gladius—"Wind-calling: Wind Burst." With each of my steps—evading crashing against the trees, I only lagged behind her second—stopped at an expansive clearing—a wide crater from where the explosion emerged.

"What the—" I sounded my confusion out loud. From the crater, I watched two Minusfolk appear from a Sky Gate, although skinless they wore uniformity. White robes closed by a button with an 'M' sign at their centre.

Although skinless, their faces had expression and didn't at all appear in agony. One was small and had a cold demeanour, the other was larger and had a permeant grin.

"Perfect, you've come to us," said the large one. Their eyes on Camila.

"Nodin, run—" she said. I was told by her but—the small one raised his right hand. I surged Raysight by ki, two shadow hands had clasped Camila—one her right thigh, the other on her neck.

"Air Slash," I waved my gladius to cut both of the Shadow Hands and get their attention.

The small began emitting a shadow aura as he said. "At the core of the world, where the king resides, showing both kindness and might is the way of a ruler. You Maristela—must return to that rule and be the concubine for our expansion."

"Raysight," said the large one I peaked his interest. "What the—he's like us!"

I saw what he saw by Raysight, the commonality I shared with the Minusfolk that had appeared.

I looked at the small ones Surgem.

What I got was a nod saying—fight now, ask questions later from her. I wanted to use my Individualistic-calling's Numen Power to see if my old men had any answers, but that too would have to wait.

With that I sounded. "Earth-calling: Earth Wall—Power-calling: Impetus," an evocation, to close off the area and keep the other Noumenon leagues below us safe.

Bruno cracked his knuckles.

Netuno sighed. "I guess it wasn't going to be that easy. But my brother here is famous for his physical strength and bloodthirsty nature. I think he'll be capable of taking you on by his own just fine," he said.

The primary issue even before the bout began is that Bruno's Graviton outweighs ours, if he utilised the full extent of his Agility [Black] = 8, our speeds are equal, but as his Graviton is greater his agility would 'outweigh' mine, that is the proponent of Graviton, the idea of 'outweighing with your own weight', your own gravity—over the laws of the world. So Noumancy fights are basic like Markya said that one time. ['With Graviton, even a single decimal digit higher determines a fray. Do you truly believe you can outweigh my power, Junius Allfather?']

The tactic is to outweigh the other person by technique, wit, or Graviton alone.

With similar black aura beginning to surround Bruno. "Void-calling: [Shadow Hands]!" The manifestation of four shadow limbs behind him—warping and enhancing the size of his arms, Bruno, like a beast was now in all fours, leaning on the extensive weight of the shadow armaments on his arms. With the rise of both of his fists, the obvious—to dodge.

I knew the attack would extend past the wall I had created. I had to face it head in order to keep the other Noumenon safe, I surged Maximum Acceleration by ki so they wouldn't acknowledge my evocation, together with the—Soul-calling: Aurora Anahata.

In the sacrifice of my LVL I was capable of doing it—the Aurorean state. My reminiscence on what Gualter once said. ['If your Surgem is similar to our TachyON in Graviton, 5—Action Potential, you outweigh 4D—space-time. That's unique for a Consurge.'] A similar feat to Uncle Zosimos' outweighing of Earthatheneum's time. Speed was no longer a factor.

Before his fist would impact—Bruno then had an unmatched searing sensation and excruciating abdominal agony. His eyes sparkled with unreal brilliance as my fist penetrated all the way through his abs—I surged by ki—but still evoked so he could hear. "Null-calling: Nullify."

Yet, the shadow hands persisted. With a clap of his hand, my body crushed in between his shadows. Several questions rushed through my nous. But they all hustled down to—how?

"Nodin!" I heard Camila shout an make effort.

I strained to surge a Power-calling to escape his grasp, but I couldn’t. There was a greater outweighing being surged. But with Raysight, I saw it—what he surged, similar to, no, different from the Jun-yun Zuhe technique as they weren't fused—but by mere touch of one another their Graviton became 'entangled'.

Clasped by his shadow palms, I felt my body go up and slam down like a hammer.

Though there was no nail, only the fading of my consciousness.
