Little did Alfred know, mothers were a touchy subject for Boss G. He blurted out the first insult that came to his mind, he was only trying to lessen the illusion of a greater enemy.

However, the boy had angered Boss G beyond reason. Due to an earlier incident that day, the worst thing Alfred could’ve done was bring up his mother.

Boss G’s eyebrows clapped together as he frowned in an almost audible manner, his eyes squinted thin like a murderous viper. He clenched his teeth together so hard, that his jaw muscles bulged outwards pining the veins on his face against his skin.

He raised his right arm towards Alfred, not taking notice of the change the boy was going through and spoke.

“Scorch.”

The air in the room thickened like mud, it became so heavy that Alfred could feel the weight on his skin. Suddenly sparks could be seen in the air that collected towards the Boss’ right palm.

As soon as a vortex of sparks formed the temperature in the room multiplied, and a pillar of flame 1 meter wide rocketed towards his direction.

Alfred had just finished his transformation and looked up, only to see red flames hurtling towards him. The flames lit up the room with intensity, there was not a single shadow left.

The flames had almost engulfed Alfred before he used Accelerate to jump to the side with all his power.

Crash!

Fwoosh!

There was a statue behind the boy that was hit as he narrowly dodged the spell, it ignited into a ball of flame and crashed towards the back wall.

He was stunned speechless. Even with Vampiric mode enabled, Alfred knew this would not be an easy battle. However, he was running against the clock, there was danger in wasting time.

‘Should I run or fight? I’m not sure if Vampiric mode will last long enough for me to try both.’ The boy was in a dilemma.

‘No! I will not be defeated again! I will never run, I will become the strongest person on this planet so I can finally create my utopia.’

Alfred’s eyes became sharp as a blade, he lowered his stance and looked directly at the boss.

“You’ve got guts boy, to reveal you’re a vampire within these walls. I would’ve bestowed upon you the opportunity to be at my service. However, you’ve made me set my house aflame. For that, you shall die. And for bringing up my mother’s good name you shall be sent to the fiery pits of hell!” Boss G bellowed, increasing his volume with every word.

He recognized Alfred was a vampire but strangely he was neither scared nor alarmed. Alfred began to have hope for his future here in Seinfeld.

Boss G put both his arms up and directed them towards Alfred, He closed his eyes as he began to channel Mana.

The boy decided not to let him finish casting that spell, the previous spell was already powerful enough, and he did not want to find out what would happen if he took on a spell cast with two hands.

He sprinted towards the boss with determination in his eyes, the fear had completely faded. Alfred was dragging his blade as he ran towards the boss, when he was 2 meters away he jumped up and swung the blade down with extreme force.

To his surprise, the blade went through Boss G as if he was made of air and sliced into the wooden panel on the ground, Alfred was shocked and turned around to look for Boss G after realizing that he was just a mirage.

Behind the boy, Boss G had finished casting his spell and shouted out, “Scorch!”

The instant Alfred noticed what was happening he rolled to the side but it was too late. His foot had got caught in the flames and his already worn-out pants were set alight.

“Arghhh!” Alfred screamed as he kicked off his pants.

“Hahaha! What a show! I love it when they scream and struggle.” Boss G was talking aloud, however, it was as if he was addressing himself!

Alfred turned towards the boss and tried to figure out what just happened, he was certain that the man couldn’t move that fast so how did he miss? He decided to attack again and pay more attention to uncover the mystery.

The room was completely up in flames. Since it was mostly made of wood, the fire was spreading quickly and poisonous fumes started to fill the room.

The boy realized this and bolted out the door, in fear of being caught in a burning building. Boss G smirked and followed him with less urgency.

As Alfred made it down the stairs and approached the front door, he noticed he had left Boss G in the dust. It confused him as he thought ‘if he was fast enough to dodge my last attack then why wasn’t he fast enough to keep up?’

All the servants had long escaped the building, Boss G was known to be violent and his fire spell was no secret. As soon as they heard the commotion they left their quarters and headed out to notify the guards, to their surprise they discovered there were no guards to inform.

Alfred had made it out the front door when he bumped into the servants loitering around.

“Oh my God! What is that!” yelled one of the servants while she pointed to the boy. As soon as the rest noticed him, they scattered in different directions screaming.

Alfred was a little annoyed at their reaction, he was a handsome man in his past life so he had never experienced this before.

Boss G had made it out of the house as the fire neared the front door, 70% of the house was already in roaring flames. Alfred acknowledged how dangerous magic could be. ‘If this is was what a Rank E mage could do with two attacks, what could higher levels achieve?’

Yet again the two were face to face as they stared at each other menacingly. The boy had his sword in front and the Boss had his hand outstretched.

The air began to shift and turn heavy, Alfred took notice and fell into thought; ‘why does everything become fuzzy before he attacks?’

Before he could contemplate further Boss G had already sent out another attack. Alfred didn’t dodge to the side this time, he ran straight towards the attack.

The timer on Vampiric mode was running out as Shakti levels went below 5, Alfred could no longer drag this out. His speed slowed everything down as if time had stopped. Just before the flames reached him, Alfred sprinted in a circle around Boss G, and with every step, he closed in.

He brandished his sword from a low position and swung up with ferocity, aiming at the torso. However, yet again he hit nothing but air. Alfred felt heat coming from his left so he instinctively stepped back as a fiery pillar zoomed past his previous position.

His eyebrows and eyelashes were scorched, the ends of his hair were lit aflame and the boy rushed to put out the flames.

The pain was unbearable, like thousands of wasps stung his face simultaneously. He could feel the evaporating blood escaping through his pores and bubbling on the surface of his skin. The taste of soot filled his mouth.

Alfred’s eye’s darted as he looked at his health gauge, the last attack hurt him bad. His face had got scorched and he could still feel the heat dissipating off his face.

[Health: 12HP]

‘I might have bitten off more than I can chew’ Alfred joked to himself as the pain slowly faded, in the next second his Shakti would run out and he would be at a greater disadvantage.

“Give it up kid you’ll never be able to land an attack! This fight is over.” Declared Boss G as he noticed the struggle on the boy’s face.

“It’s over only when you die!” Alfred snapped back rushing towards Boss G. He knew that this opponent was defeatable considering how he kept dodging his attacks. If the strength gap was truly as massive as it appeared then there would be no need to dodge.

The moment Alfred took his first step he noticed the shift in the air, yet again the air would turn heavy. This time he was laser focused and was able to see that the boss turned mirage-like along with the air before solidifying back.

Previously the flames and the adrenalin made him miss this important detail, however, he was able to pick up on it now and also noticed that it looked as if there was a see-through object moving behind Boss G.

Instead of going straight toward the boss, Alfred went left following the object and slashed with all his energy.

Slice!

The blade tore through the boss’ chest, it created a superficial wound that was a couple of millimeters deep. However, Alfred was finally able to hit his target.

A piercing pain overcame Boss G as he looked down at his chest in utter disbelief. He could see his skin splitting open and blood trickling out.

After receiving that attack, he lost focus for a moment and lost control of his illusion spell. The scenery changed for a brief moment but Alfred was able to pick up on it.

The first thing he noticed was that the flames were greatly exaggerated and that the house wasn’t completely burning. Where he saw trails of fire were only small parts of the ground burning. He also saw the real boss appear donning a new wound on his chest with a little blood.

The man was an actual ogre, who was as round as he was tall. His face was ugly enough to be cast in horror movies. Alfred smiled as he finally understood.

[Vampiric Mode Disabled.]

It was time for the real fight to begin.
