Chapter 3: Chapter 2: New World

The buzzing sound of a lightbulb was sounding in the night. The city was dark with almost no lights to be found as an eery gas station still had power.

Though there was no one manning the gas station with it having broken windows and looking like it just got robbed.

Inside the store was just what you would get from a regular gas station. Though broken down with items scattered everywhere.

But suddenly! A man appeared behind the register. He looked quite handsome though his hair was messy and he wasn’t clothed.

This was Kai, and he finally got out of the void!

‘… Yes!’ Kai pumped his fist up after a few seconds of silence. ‘I’m out!’

He felt delighted that he was out of the remnants of his universe and was now in another world. Though he didn’t have any idea which world he was in, he hoped it was safe.

‘Man, this is run down.’ Kai noticed his surroundings as he looked around. He was standing behind the cash register into the gas station and he wandered around. ‘Did something happen?’

He took a peek outside and saw that the sky was turning dark. The gas station’s lights were still on though everything else was pretty much off.

He felt a cool breeze come over him as he shivered. Kai thought, ‘Oof, I’m going to need some clothes fast.’

He looked around at his surroundings and didn’t find any clothes to wear. He wanted to step outside though his gut said it was not a good idea.

‘I swear if this world is some type of post-apocalyptic or something.’ Kai wasn’t a big fan of those types of worlds because they were extremely depressing.

Living in a world where your only goal is to SURVIVE! No other ambitions than that which is sad for you and what you would most likely go through.

Kai did notice a figure moving in the road. He ducked behind the register as he took a glance at who it was.

The man was walking rigidly with aimless wandering. His skin was a whiteish blue and he looked extremely sick.

‘Nope, those are zombies.’ Kai shivered. ‘Why did it have to be that kind of apocalypse out of all of them!’

He hated zombies the most. Because you would have to kill people you know and the concept of them were just terrifying in general.

‘I’ll just stick to thinking in my head.’ Kai noted as more zombies passed by. ‘This place is infested holy cow!’

He was scared of course, but not as much as he thought he would be. He was trying to stick to a more calmer and calculative personality which would be the best.

‘Okay, I need a weapon or something.’ Kai’s eyes wandered across the gas station looking for sharp objects or anything of the sort.

He was also keeping himself out of the sight of the zombies so his options were more limited.

Sadly, he couldn’t find anything that could really work as a weapon. But he still had one weapon inside him.

‘The chaos emeralds are almost out of power so I need to save it. There also isn’t my enough energy to hop worlds again, shit.’ The chaos control took a large toll on the emeralds and he couldn’t do another one. ‘Though I could still stop time for a few seconds…’

Another ability he could use, stopping time. The duration depended on how much chaos energy he uses and there was no cooldown. Quite overpowered if you had the chaos emeralds at their peak condition.

‘I probably can’t wait for someone to save me because I’ll starve.’ The food in the gas station was either destroyed or already eaten by some other guy. ‘I guess I’ll need to fight.’

Kai gulped as he tried to bubble up some bravery.

VRRRM!

Suddenly, the sound of a motorcycle played in Kai’s ears as he perked up. He looked outside the windows and saw a light approaching. The zombies also saw it and ran towards the light. However, all Kai saw were the corpses of the zombies being thrown back with their heads being pierced or splattered.

‘Survivors?’ Kai saw the light stop as two figures on a motorcycle parked right next to one of the gas pumps.

They were a man and woman who both had astonishing looks. The woman wearing a schoolgirl uniform with long orange hair and quite astounding assets. The man wearing a black uniform with messy hair and a bat in one of his hands.

“Tsk! The gas pump is self service. I’m going to need money to get gas.” The man said as he frowned.

“Then put it in there!” The woman replied to the man.

“I only have 30 yen because I spent it on a drink.” The man shrugged with the woman giving him a stare. The woman spoke, “You're the worst…”

The man seemed to be particularly mad at that remark as he responded, “Well I’m not Hisashi!”

‘Seems like they’re getting personal.’ Kai watched their argument unfold from the sidelines.

They continued it for a few more seconds until the man turned around and stared to approach the gas station.

‘Crap he’s coming here!’ Kai backed away. ‘I’m still naked!’

His excalibur was particularly long standing at a solid 6-8 inches. Much better than his previous life… Which was average! Also he was butt naked with cool breezes coming in every once a while.

The man opened the door to the gas station as he took a look around. He asked, “Is anyone here?”

He continued to wander around as Kai was hiding. Kai didn’t know whether to come out or not since he’ll most likely try and attack him.

The man proceeded to press a button on the cash register which didn’t do anything. The man sighed but wore a smile as he climbed onto the table.

He held his bat up and smashed it against the register.

CRASH!

The man shattered the cash register loudly which was quite stupid. The man then got down and started to collect some of the money that escaped onto the floor.

‘Now or never.’ Kai was hiding to the left of the register and the man didn’t spot me. But now he felt like it was a good time to introduce myself, “Psst!”

The man turned his head in an instant as he looked at Kai. He was still gripping his bat while staring at Kai.

I’ve was only showing my head which was just around the corner and the man questioned him cautiously, “Who are you?”

“Dude chill, also can you lend me your jacket?” Kai asked him with sincerity.

The man was silent for a moment as he stared at his innocent eyes. He narrowed his eyes, still holding suspicion towards me but proceeded to take off his jacket.

Once it was off he tossed it over to Kai and he caught it. “Thanks-“

“AHHH!” A feminine scream shouted loudly and they both heard it.

“Rei!” The man got up with the bat in hand. He dashed out the gas station as Kai hurriedly tightened the jacket around my waist. “Rei what’s wrong?”

The man saw another guy holding a knife at Rei’s neck. He saw the man and looked stunned for a moment, but quickly put on a smirk.

“Dude! You got a cute girlfriend!” He said at the agitated man.

“Let her go!” The man said to the guy.

“Why would I do that dummy?! I need a chick to live in this world full of monsters!” The guy laughed as he kept Rei at knifepoint.

“Are you crazy!”

“Hell yeah I am!” The guy said and the two of them started a conversation.

Kai noticed how long they were being amidst the silence which was not a great idea. He also believed he had seen the man and Rei before, maybe it was an anime? He almost got lost in his thoughts as Rei suddenly yelled, “Takashi!”

The guy grabbed Rei by the breast and started to fondle it. He started to say some stuff about how large her chest was while keeping the knife at her throat.

Currently, Takashi couldn’t do anything because if he tried then the guy would stab Rei, killing her. It didn’t help that the guy told Takashi to drop his bat or else he would kill Rei.

Takashi tossed the bat away and the guy seemed to have full control over the situation. He ordered Takashi to pump up the motorcycle which he was already planning on doing.

He inserted the money and started pumping the gas, also telling the guy some things about how they want to find their families.

‘Is he stalling?’ Kai thought as he listened in. ‘Perhaps I could do something.’

This wasn’t a wise decision on his part but he still somewhat had his morals and the guy was certainly outside of them.

‘With the zombies coming too, I need to do this fast.’ The thought of stopping time for a few seconds popped in Kai’s head. Within that timeframe he had to run over to them and pull the girl away while knocking the man over.

He could reduce the time needed by dashing first and then stopping time which what his plan. Now he just needed a good opening.

Takashi had just finished pumping the motorcycle and put the pump back. He kept staring at the man and walked over saying, “No seriously…”

“Shut the hell up!” The guy seemed agitated and Kai bravely took my chances.

He dashed out the store surprising everyone there, however something was weird.

Everything was slow, the guy was moving in slow motion along with Rei and Takashi. The sound was also transferring slowly while Kai was still moving normally.

‘Super speed?!’ He thought as I continued to approach the man. ‘This works!’

His link to the chaos emeralds had to have done this and it wasn’t a unneeded benefit!

Kai stopped right in front of the man as he pulled Rei out of his grasps and pulled back his fists. ‘Eat shit!’

POW!

Kai slammed his fist against the guy’s stomach with incredible force as he noticed things started to speed up.

In the next second, the guy went flying across the pavement as both Rei and Takashi watched with shocked faces.

The guy landed on the road, flying meters away. He was still just barely conscious as he felt pain surge inside his body.

“W-what the hell!” Rei shouted.

I glanced at her as she was still in shock and turned to Takashi who was just dumbfounded.

But the two of them snapped out of it as they heard the groans of the zombies.

“No time to waste! Rei hurry up!” Takashi shouted to Rei who turned around and ran over.

They both hopped onto the bike as Takashi started it up. Rei looked at me as Takashi was ready to get going. He started the motorcycle and gave Kai a glance saying, “Thank you”, while driving off. That was at least what he thought.

‘… They’re just going to leave me here?!’ Kai thought as he looked over to the other guy. He was being swarmed by a plethora of zombies as they munched on him.

Some other zombies were approaching him with haste and Kai didn’t want to stay behind.

‘I need that speed again! Come on!’ Kai dashed forward while following in the direction of Takashi and Rei.

Everything started to slow down once more with Kai being unaffected by this. He easily dodged the zombies and followed the path that they took.

While following them he had figured out something about the world he was in.

He had remembered which anime he was in after some recollecting. More of a fan service anime though it kept its dark tone.
