In a certain forest covered with gigantic trees, the breeze of the spring carried more than just air. An aromatic smell from down below flowed gently reaching even the highest peaks and also the borders of these peculiar woods.

In the center, beautiful flowers blossomed everywhere, filling the place in a multitude of diverse colors.

The mysticism of this place kept the monsters away, they didn’t carelessly move inside the forest. The scent was far too intense, causing their nostrils to be affected, thus putting them vulnerable.

Thanks to this uniqueness, spring was the beloved season of those who whispered in this place. Tiny, tiny figures roamed this place, with bodies no more than fifteen centimetres.

And like the flowers, they too shared their own set of colors. Vibrant ones like red, yellow, orange, and even colder ones like black, white, and green. Their ears were quite distinct too, short and pointy, smaller than the ones of elves. Their eyes often matched the color of the hair, and both went in pair with the color palette of their wings.

Spring for them was the season of happiness where tiny smiles brimmed along with the seasonal delicate warmth. It was in such a time that something unique happened.

Circles of fairies remained around a cocoon, flapping their wings as they danced.

In the middle of them, there was a couple who had caressed an indigo bud for a very long while. Their gazes spoke of unwavering persistence and patience. Both of their hearts brimmed with love towards it and what it contained.

The bud would shake with the wind, but sometimes it would also twitch by itself, showing for everyone to see its strong vividness.

A hidden fragment of unease caressed those motherly eyes of the woman who stood watching over it. For the color was indigo, and that had never been the case. She had lived for a bit more than five hundred years as the fairy queen and had done her utmost efforts to provide her people with an heir and safety.

There were times she cursed her incompetence, depressed over the many failed attempts to deliver a newborn prince or princess.

But all of this distress was coming to an end, and unlike everything that had ever happened before in this forest.

The light of their beloved system, their adored god irradiated down on the bud, causing it to shine in mysterious ways.

“Blessed, blessed, blessed,” the many figures repeated in unison, applauding their way through.

“Just what in the world is inside the bud, to cause our god to bless it right away?” The queen whispered low enough that only the king could hear, holding on to her excitement. This too had never happened, causing everyone to be perplexed, making the whispers of those innocent souls tremble in exhilaration.

“It took us a long time to get here. As long as it comes healthy, that’s all that matters,” they traded positive glances and faint smiles, holding each other hands from the king’s words.

This was the moment where the story of my life began, the day of my birth, and, of course, my reincarnation as a fairy.

Slowly the bud opened, spreading its leaves in full indigo blossom, shining beautifully for everyone to see. From within, I remained in a sleeping position, resting on top of its soft surface.

I extended my arms, stretching myself after what felt like an eternity. And then I yawned for them to hear. It was loud enough in a moment where silence reigned, for their excitement had halted upon this event. Lastly, my eyes opened, and I took a seat.

“Where am I?”

As if to match my confusion, euphoric clapping followed along with the screams of my kin, surprising the tiny me, who took my time to realize I was surrounded by at least a hundred.

System: Welcome to the world of Anatra.

And so the chanting echoed throughout that minuscule space.

“Congratulations, your majesties.” The many colored beings surrounding us spoke in unison, clapping euphorically, allowing my parents to smile and blush. It didn’t take me long to notice the two of them, they who held on to crowns made of delicate leaves, and they who stared down at me with eyes full of maternal and paternal love.

It was then that what looked like the queen extended her arms to the side, as if embracing my arrival to this world, and she proclaimed then, “welcome my child to the fae forest!” Unlike most of them, my mother wore a green dress made of nature itself, leaving the beauty of her body hidden beneath.

“Thank you,” I smiled, blushing slightly, still attempting to understand things around me.

The queen looked at me from top to bottom, noticing some uniqueness compared to the rest of our kin.

“You... seem to be a bit special, but you’re definitely one of us.”

She smiled as a mother would, neglecting further attention to such details, and the woman increased the tone of her voice for everyone to hear her loud and clear, allowing her words to resonate further towards the circles of fellow small beings around, “I am Frelda! The queen of this territory!”

‘A queen...’ I wondered, surprised by her title, understanding that I was born with a golden spoon in my mouth, or so I presumed upon the circumstances.

“Welcome to this world my child, I’m Francis the king,” from within his kindness, he extended her some clothes, which were quickly accepted out of plain gratitude. To my eyes as a newborn, the quality was horrible, plain-looking, made of grass without much of a stylish design, fairly speaking, something only meant to cover my body.

‘Did I somehow end up in an actually good position? The people around are mostly naked...’ My eyes took a full turn to my surrounding eventually ending up staring at my father who gazed at the gift in his hands patiently. In my sight, I could see an endless green filled with beautiful flowers. Further to the end of my field of vision, almighty trees that soared towards the sky covered the forest like an outstanding fortress. Underneath my legs, I noticed one opened indigo cocoon of sorts, understanding that was most likely the place of my birth. This area was quite the secluded one, and in a way filled with upcoming newborns, along with their buds, some still closed.
