'Rena! You're alive! And awake? Shouldn't you be asleep?' Ors thought in glee, before realizing rest was the most important thing for his pokemon right now.
'Well, I must admit that it is a strange sensation. While my body is asleep, my mind is floating in a strange sky with lakes, where I can see you floating with your eyes closed.' She replied after thinking for a moment.
While it's embarrassing to mention, Ors got his information from Naruto when he thought to himself, not Rena, 'That should be a mindscape, but sky and lakes... air and water...Could our mindscapes be connected? That would make a lot of sense. Could I force a blood bond by connecting my mindscape with another person without their permission? This will require further experimentation... hmm.'
'Ok Rena, that's our shared mindscape. As long as you're in there, I know you're mind is ok. I'll finish the award ceremony and then come back to see you at the hospital, ok?'
'Thank you. Good luck on the rewards.' She whispered before her presence faded slightly, still there, but muted. Her mind probably went to sleep.
Finally paying attention to the outside world again, he saw that Mototo was being placed on a stretcher, no longer crying in pain, though his teeth were mashed together. A high level Chancey using Pain Split fixed enough injuries to take him to the hospital.
"Hey, Spenser's grandson. Good fight. I respect you more than anyone else here. For the balls and your skills. If not for training to walk on my hands as well as my legs, we would have tied." And Ors was telling the truth here. He respected this guy and Magikarp guy more than anyone else here.
The latter because of the balls and brains it took to actually fight using a Magikarp and make it to top 16 out of 64. With a Gyarados, that guy would make it as a trainer for sure. Provided it stayed under his control after evolution. They were volatile creatures.
"What a battle, with an incredible resolution! It seems that our first place winner has made two rivals here today. Give it up for ORTHUSSSSSSSS REGULUS!" The crowd went batshit insane at the MC's words, standing up, clapping, and screaming.
One girl even through her bra down. Ors didn't touch it. Who knows where that's been? When the men's underwear landed as well, he decided it was time to bow one last time and leave the field, still on his hands.
Twenty minutes later, the top four were all called together for their rewards, excluding Mototo, who already chose his on the way out, as he was sure Ors wouldn't want it.
It was a Hard Stone, which would help his pokemon by increasing the power of rock type moves. Yeah, Ors didn't want it.
There were a good few other items there to choose from. Nine were just power-boosting items like hard stones, and while Ors was tempted by the Mystical Water, under his Inspect skill, its purity was only 26%, which increased the power of water moves by a measly 5%.
All of these were worthless but there were some positives, like a focus band, damp rock, and scope lens. But Ors was fishing for more.
"Umm, is there anything else I could choose?" He muttered, looking over the items. He would take the damp rock if there was nothing else.
Thinking for a moment, the event organizer prodded at his stubble that could barely be called a beard. "To be honest, it depends on what it is you have in mind."
"A King's Rock." Ors said, muscles clenched. This person knew he had a Poliwag, so depending on whether he knew of the existence of Politoed, Ors could be screwed here. But it was more than worth a shot.
After all, King's Rocks were only valuable to the average person of this world because of their beauty and increased flinch chance.
A 10% flinch chance is about as valuable as a 60% increased duration to Sandstorm.
"Hmm, King's Rock, eh? I don't believe I have any myself, though I know a friend who has one. Give me, say... 300 Pokedollars and I'll get it for you in two days?" The man said, as if this would take a lot out of him.
"Fine by me I suppose." Ors nearly screamed when he saw his phone show a loss of 300 pokedollars. He only managed to save up about 1.4k Poke, so this hurt his savings quite a bit.
The organizer's brows furrowed. "Where should I bring it to you?"
Upon thinking for a moment, Ors decided, "Pokemon Center should do, just ring me and I'll come get it, my phone number is **********."
"Will do. Now that you'll have your reward, you can leave or stay to watch the others' choices." And Ors split back to the pokemon center. Nurse Coco had just arrived there to help with Rena's and Ors' treatment. She and Ors were actually somewhat close, as he had babysat her daughter for her a few times.
She was thus extremely worried for him and his pokemon. But realizing the Poliwag was fine, she left after consoling Ors a bit and helping heal his legs and arms. Walking on his hands the whole day for that distance actually hurt him a bit.

Two days soon passed, and Rena still hadn't woken up, but the King's Rock arrived. A 78% purity was more than sufficient in Ors' opinion, considering they weren't sold in shops and held mostly by high society and the pokemon league.
However, he learned some incredibly useful information from it.
Object: King's Rock
Type: Water/Dark
Purity: 78%
Effect: When work by a pokemon, increases flinch chance by 9%, even if there isn't one at the beginning.
This was all that was shown at first, but using Inspect even further by adding a ton of aura to his eye revealed the part he wanted to see.
Hidden Effect: Causes certain pokemon to evolve (Poliwhirl, Slowpoke, and Golurk)
Method: Use link cord on Poliwhirl or Slowpoke while it wears the King's Rock or have them accepted by a group or tribe of at least 300 while wearing it.
Method: Melt down the corpse of a Runerigus with the king's rock and bathe a > level 66 Golurk in it for six hours.
That last one was more than a little creepy, probably the reason it had the dark typing, because what the fuck? Honestly though, Ors didn't want a Golurk. Not for any particular reason other than it looked silly and was very late game with it's evolution. Also It's stats didn't reach 500 without the... strange evolution.
After he reached the peak of this world, Ors could probably become an evolution explorer/researcher and release all the evolution information he knew to the general public. Only after scamming money out of the league for it, of course.
Back to the King's Rock, Ors was considering the Link Cord. He had never seen one before in this world, so he didn't even know if they were around. He knew for a fact that trade evolutions weren't a thing though.
The 300 acceptance thing would honestly probably be easiest considering what he and Rena were planning to do, but only if there were actually 300 viable pokemon in her tribe.
At that moment, Rena finally woke up in her body. "Ors? Is that you? Could... could I get some water and lettuce?"
"Hahahahaha! Of course you can! Nurse Jooooooooy! My pokemon is awake, could you come here?" He yelled, before remembering he was in a hospital, where other sick pokemon lay, some even worse off than Rena. 'Oops.'
"Is something wrong? Should I call for Chansey?" She yelled, running into the room. Her eyes were sunken from all of her work for the past few days, handing 60 more trainers than usual.
Ors coughed, cringing at his mistake. "Umm, not exactly. I need some water and..." he turned to his pokemon and smiled, "carrots and broccoli."
Rena cocked her head in confusion. "What are those items? A type of lettuce?"
Ors shook his head. "Something even better."
"Ahem. Apologies, but you will have to get the salad and water yourself. I am not a maid, I am a doctor." And with that, Nurse Joy walked out in consternation.
"Oops, I'll be back up in a second. I'll make sure to bring lettuce in case you don't like the carrots and broccoli." Ors sighed, making his way to the cafeteria.
After bringing the salad back up to her and discovering Rena liked broccoli, but not carrots, Ors moved back to the front desk. "Excuse me, I would like to request a meeting with... Omar?"
