1st Person POV

After Rena caught up with her long named friend, I finally decided it was time to go. "You can come visit once we finish the second gym and come to deal with your pest problem. By the way, did you say fighting is outlawed here? I thought it was allowed if both parties agreed to it?"

"Well, under normal circumstances, that is indeed the case, but we've had a human guest who has asked us to not battle while he's here to do his work."

A bit strange for a guest to come way out here. This is a pretty low level area, the record catch being the top of Advanced Stage, or around level 39 to Ors. "A guest? Do you know who?"

Anybody who was strong enough to be a guest to this area's royalty was someone strong indeed. I'd offended quite a few rich folk back in my unsavory attempts at a quick buck.

"No, but he has fading spiked brown hair, a white jacket, and has a Charmeleon." This annoying creature did not exactly give a perfect description. Wait, Charmeleon?! Only the highest in society got a Charmander; they all went extinct apart from the ones in captivity at Charicific Valley and... Professor Oak's Ranch. Yup, he fits the bill. I have to meet him, at all costs.

"WHERE IS HE?! Sorry, I meant, could you point me in his direction?" Ors grinned suavely.

The megafish went back to leaning back on her throne, as a Pidgeotto dropped a large berry in her mouth. Finally she deigned to give a reply. "He's supposed to leave today. If he's still here, he'd be in the island at the center of the lake. You'd never make it there, the strongest water types in hundreds of miles block the way."

No, this can't be happening! Only he can answer my question. Professor Oak hates the League because of its corruption, even refusing the title of champion in this world. He's well known for being an anarchist, but a peaceful one, for whatever sense that made. An idealist revolutionary.

Comical, but he'd have his uses, especially when I'll need to know how to evolve myself using pokemon DNA, not to mention getting Rena evolved beyond Politoed. Right now though, there's something far more pressing...

"Did I hear someone calling for me?" A voice resounded from above the group, where an Orange mass flew, flapping its white scaly wings. A Charizard. I have to inspect this bad boy.

Species: ???

Type: Fire/???

Potential: Blue

Abilities: Drought, Solar Power, ???

Level: ???

Moves: ???

What the fuck? I can't even see it's full typing? Wait, I need to say something, otherwise he'll realize something's up.

"Sorry professor, I was surprised to see you here! Would you have he time to speak with me?" No. There's no point in this. Oak is going to see right through me. No point playing games with him. But Rena needs to stay here. She can't know the things I'm going to have to ask yet.

"I believe I can make some time in my schedule. Hope on Nova's back, we'll take you to the center island."

The Gyaraemon thing was stunned. Heh, serves the bitch right. I love a good face slap. "Hey, Rena. You can stay here for now and hang out with your princess friend. I'll be back."

The second I was on the Charizard, a psychic barrier strapped me to it. "I'll be fine professor, don't..." Oh. We were moving at Mach 2. "Nevermind, I need the barrier."

"Hohoho, though you are quite strong for your age. Almost as strong as Blue and Red." Those were names that I expect to hear blow up in the future.

The professor stroked his chin. "See, though I must wonder why you have the aura of recognition about you, like you know who they are."

This... will be good training. If nothing else. I might be bad at most things, but my two greatest talents are not giving up and lying.

"Well Professor, Blue is your son. It's pretty hard to not know who he is." I grinned. My ultimate test of bullshittery.

"Oh, right. No, rather, I have another question. How do you know me?" Oh. He... he wasn't famous yet? I fucked that one up. There's only one way I can think of to salvage this.

Let's do this, Orthrus style! "Ah, I botched that, huh? Fine, secret's out, let's just say that you aren't the only one Celebi paid a visit to."

"Wh-what? A little boy like you already having met a legendary?" It's just as I suspected. The only true weakness of psychic types. Emotions. He can't sense what I'm feeling if he's too stunned to stabilize his aura. This battle is my win.

We had already reached our destination at this point, so Oak and I dismounted Charizard. "Do you know what I came to see, Professor? Red's son and Blue's son fighting a bipedal purple cat psychic pokemon, even their own pokemon turning on them."

By using this tiny shocking piece of future knowledge, I could keep the "supergenius" from using that damnable psychic aura. This was a really useless piece of knowledge since it wouldn't happen in this world. I couldn't let Giovanni make Mewtwo in this world. Mega Mewtwo would be much too large a thorn in my foot should that abomination come to exist.

I continued, not letting up. "They both died, and I and Celebi only lived by hiding under the corpse of a huge pokemon. My mission is to change the future, whether I defeat the thing or seal it away or whatever. Anyways, while in the future, I learned of Your's, Blue's, and Red's exploits"

And now the truth looked like that Gyarados hit it with a hyper beam. The lie, the whole lie, and nothing but the lie. Of course, I had never been to the future. I don't even remember what Celebi looks like. "I understand. What is it you needed from myself though? I was just here to evolve this Charmeleon."

"I need to figure out how to stabilize my potential when I evolve. The last two times I've evolved, my potential went up and then returned to what it was before. What things do you know of that lower potential in mere days?"

"Only a few. First, if you had a severe disease. But you look fine to me. So it isn't that one. Thus, I would say that it's one of two things. First, you have an especially weak soul, and your body has a hard limiter that evolving can't pass because your soul would be too weak to inhabit it. Please understand that research on the soul is both very limited and one of the most well kept League secrets. The other option is that you are awakening abilities. Usually that doesn't lower potential though, it just damages you somewhat. Those are the main options."

Damn, he recovered too quickly, he could probably sense it if I tried to lie about how I know about Politoed's existence. Wait, I never stopped to think of whether the League even knew about Politoed. After all, the method of using on to evolve is incredibly obscure. I need to think about that.

"Probably the latter. I would probably need a strong soul to survive time travel." This wasn't a lie. I probably would. I didn't mention that I hadn't actually done that. I do think I have a strong soul though. I mean, I fucking reincarnated.

But what 2 abilities am I unlocking? No matter, I'll deal with that later. I need to ask something of Oak to make me stronger. Let me think of all the plans I've made. What would be the most useful?

That's easy. "Anyway, I need something from you, Professor. If I ask, I need you to promise me not to ask any questions. I'll pay whatever you need me to for it, but I'll need that promise." This is a huge gambit, since he could probably just torture me to get it. But I doubt someone like Oak would care, he'd only ask questions if I mentioned something more specific.

"Honestly, that depends on what you ask me for. If you need a Philosopher's Stone, I would have a few questions."

That fucking exists here? You know what? Not worth it. "A what?"

"Nothing. What is it you need?"

This was it. the moment. "I need a shiny stone."
