It was a big risk, but could expedite Ors' plans by a great degree if he said yes, thus he took the risk.

"A shiny stone? Feel free to come by my lab whenever you need one, I have a huge collection of evolution stones. Plus, Roserade and Florges are both great pokemon."

"Great, thanks Professor! I'll make sure to bring payment for them."

"Very good. Now, I must unfortunately request you find somewhere else to train. I have quite a bit of research left to do here on these Magikarp variants." Oak finally decided to kick the trainer out.

The professor truly believed that Ors had truly been to the future, as nobody knew about him meeting Celebi. But, if he helped too much, the trainer's growth would be stunted.

Although Ors hadn't wanted to leave without fighting at least once or twice, he also wanted to get his next pokemon soon. After all, his gym battle was a 2v2, and in only a week.

Thus, the professor took Ors back to the shore, where Rena was waiting. Oak immediately left.

"Alright, so the next place I want us to go is going to be a slight detour, but only slight, as it's right outside Neon Town."

"Hey, Rayray! Don't tell me you got caught by some trainer!" An obnoxious voice sounded out from behind them.

Rena rolled her eyes. "Indeed, Mochi. His name is Orthrus Regulus. He has sworn to help us with our little rodent problem, so I'd appreciate you not giving us any problems."

A cold glimmer shone as the world suddenly turned black for the human. Ors ducked to the ground, then rolled backward.

"Oh? The attack earlier wasn't a fluke." Light returned in that area.

"Does this mean you want a battle? Because I don't mind one, as long as we get away from the Watering Hole, since fighting is illegal here."

The Poliwag with a black hue on its tail shook its head. "Unnecessary, I can see that Rena isn't strong yet. Besides, she's injured. As for you... Well, if you used the attack you did against Gongutyur, I would probably die in one hit."

As much as Ors wanted to disagree about the first part, that night slash was fast. The tactic of Aqua Jetting away wouldn't likely work because this Poliwag was so speedy.

Species: Poliwag

Type: Water

Potential: Yellow

Ability: Prankster, Sealed Power (Lowers Potential by two grades and seals two strongest moves)

Level: 15

Moves: Hypnosis (B), Water Gun, Agility (B), Taunt

Egg Moves: Dragon Dance, Night Slash (I)

Hidden Moves(Locked): Psycho Shift, Superpower

Although the status didn't look like anything particularly special, if it had access to Psycho Shift and Superpower, it would make for a complete beast. In this world, Psycho Shift could affect lowered stats, confusion, and freeze when the user had enough move mastery, meaning Superpower and Overheat could help to lower opponent's stats.

For now, the Poliwag was already really strong without being unsealed. It was the closest to its Crawdaunt mother out of the siblings, probably. However, Ors imagined unsealing the pokemon would be incredibly difficult. Also, he remembered that his brother's Slugma had a sealed move without having the "Sealed Power" ability, which raised a couple of questions.

"I approve. The two of you may continue travelling together. But, I expect you to fulfill your promise within three months."

Nodding, Ors thought for a moment. "Before we go, could I look at the bottom of your feet? I know it's a strange request."

"Huh? I mean, I guess." Mochi nodded. As Ors suspected, a red stripe lay at the bottom of the left one. He sucked in a breath.

"Sorry, just a habit of mine. I can tell you train hard from the indentions." Ors shamelessly lied to his face.

With a bit of sibling drama out of the way, Ors and Rena decided to continue planning, and were soon enough in the middle of the woods, the Watering Hole far behind them.

That night, the two finally stopped in a small clearing with a large boulder in the middle of the area.

"Hey, Ors. Don't you think it's weird that we haven't run into any pokemon out here? The only reason I could think of for that is if we were in a clan's territory." The small tadpole seemed awfully worried, but Ors had spent most of his education journey learning geography, as that, history, and pokemon studies were the only new pieces of information for him to learn.

But it was a good point. This forest wasn't often trafficked, thus there could be a change from the records. "Hmm, I wouldn't imagine anything in this forest to be over the Intermediate Stage. So, probably a Mankey or Gloom."

Though it could be something fearsome like a Pidgeot or Beedrill Hive, it probably wasn't. News that big would be hard to miss, even for the sparsely populated Fennel Forest.

"Indeed. good point." Rena had definitely changed since seeing her childhood friend and her brother: a bit less reserved and modest now. It wasn't a huge change, but still noticeably darker. Like she realized the difficulty of what she wanted to do.

This was good for Ors, who could begin his training. He knew from his studies that the Poli line could learn Earth Power with enough training, and that knowing Mud Shot as an Egg Move would expedite the process immensely.

"Alright, before we start training your Earth and Ice moves, I think we should address what we saw. Your brother is likely to be an abomination who hasn't really become one yet, or however that works. Mom didn't go over it too well. I don't know what will trigger him, but we need to hurry back after we're strong enough, so we can warn your father about it. I doubt he would listen to us right now, but once we're stronger, he should."

With immense difficulty, Rena nodded. "Indeed. You're correct. Father respects strength above all else. We'll hopefully be able to help once I reach intermediate stage. Let's just hope that having a trainer makes me stronger, faster, as many say it does."

With that as addressed as Rena seemed to want it to be, it was time to work on Mud Shot. "The most important thing on the path to Earth Power is using Mud Shot from other locations than right under you. We aren't quite to that point yet, but to get there, try to use Mud Shot while flying back. I'll throw you back with my arms and flying energy, and you need to use Mud Shot on me while midair."

Thus, training commenced in that manner. Ors was working on using Gust, since he didn't have any form of ranged attack at the moment, and Gust was infinitely easier than something like Magnet Bomb or Flash Cannon. His low Sp. Attack would hold him back with it, but it was better to be prepared. Plus, the move had great utility, such as for jumping across a canyon or the like.

After around two hours of repeating the same thing, Ors had Rena continue to work on Aqua Jet, dodging his punches and shooting Mud Shots while inside the Aqua Jet. Such a thing was miles beyond Rena's ability for now, but telling her what he hopes she can do in the future wouldn't hurt her.

As the two finished that training and started eating together, Ors finally got the notification from his Hacking System.

Best Methods to Raise Potential

"Oho? A new one?" The one at the bottom was not something he had been offered by the system before.

But he had already chosen "Next Evolution Path" for this go, and planned for "Possible Egg Moves" the next time. He already knew several good ways to raise potential, plus the system would probably show something involving legendary pokemon's corpses. After choosing that, he looked at Rena.

Next Evolution: Poliwhirl (Level 22 or receive Blessing from Legendary)

A legendary blessing was too rare to matter. If a legendary pokemon liked a nonlegendary, they could sponsor it. But that never happened. Almost. Ors wouldn't be surprised if Vati could get it though. If anyone was the main character, it was that guy...

After finishing off supper, the two set up their camp, immediately passing out. For the next three days, nothing happened. In fact, the edge of the forest was in sight when the duo heard the damning sound. "Gir!"
