Chapter 14: Quiz

Autumn was now on his way towards the entrance of Glimwood Tangle. He soon found himself inside a forest. The Glimwood Tangle or the Luminous maze forest was a forest in the northwestern part of the Galar Region. It lies between Lateral Town (to the south) and Ballonlea Town (to the north).

The forest had several, maze paths. Though it was perpetually dark, the luminescent mushrooms provided the forest with small circles of light at various points on the path. Autumn just entered the forest and couldn't help but marvel at the sight, he had seen plenty to share of beautiful places in his previous life but this was still something. 

Autumn: "Torchic come out." 

Autumn let Torchic out and Torchic started to carefully look around. It was his first time seeing such a place and naturally, it was curious. Torchic looked around and saw a mushroom beside it. Torchic came a little closer to the mushroom and peck it. The mushroom started to light up the surrounding with a glow even brighter than before. 

Autumn: 'Huh so they work like that. Okay, let's see which is the way to Ballonlea city.' 

Autumn took out his GPS and observed the map which was showing on the screen.  He first looked over the general direction of Ballonlea Town and started to head towards it but not before calling Torchic and putting him on his shoulder so that he could also get a better view of the forest. The forest was quite big and had different paths. They were divided into a Southern and a Northern group, connected by the easternmost path. The Ballonlea Town was towards the northern group in the forest's northeast direction. 

Autumn had to take multiple turns and pass through some ledges along the way but he eventually found his way out of the forest and arrived at Ballonlea Town. The first thing he notice was how the houses of this Town were. The houses in Ballonlea resemble the design of common half-timbered cottages in traditional Tudor architecture. Due to being nestled within a forest, Ballonlea Town is quite dark but the glowing mushrooms provide most of the light outside. 

Autumn: "Finally, here now where should I go first?" 

??: "You over there." 

Autumn: "Yes?" 

Autumn turned around to look who was calling him but he immediately backed off because someone was standing right close to his face which startled him. Autumn first calms down a bit and looks at the figure who called him out. 

The figure was an elderly woman, she was old, wrinkled, and had white hair. She was also hunched over, pale-skinned, and has a long, pointy nose. Her eyes were blue. For clothing, She wore a very long pink and green dress, a green and black hat, and white shoes with purple fuzz on them. To complete her outfit, she wore three-arm bangles that match her dress, a black and pink glove, and a gigantic poofy purple scarf with three white mothball-like baubles hanging from it. She also carried a pink and green striped umbrella with a poofy purple design that matches her dress and scarf. 

Autumn: "Umm, mam who are you?" 

??: "You are severely lacking in the pink colour young man." 

Autumn checked his outfit after the old lady said that. He was just wearing a plain white shirt and was wearing a grey jacket with green highlights over it along with black shorts and some running shoes. 

Autumn: " Uhh mam exactly who are you?" 

Autumn asked again. First of all, he was suddenly approached by a mysterious old lady and after asking about her identity, he was told he lacked the colour pink. He just arrived at Ballonlea Town and was not ready for all this. 

??: "I will only answer if you answer my quiz correctly?" 

Autumn: "Quiz?" 

Autumn asked a little unsure about the current situation, but it seemed like the old lady was serious so he had no choice but to play along. Autumn sighed before nodding his head. 

??: "Alright then first, what is my favourite colour?. Option one, pink or Option two, purple" 

Autumn didn't immediately answer the question. Although the first thing that came into his mind was pink he stopped midway. He first observed the dress the old lady was wearing and found her dress colours included pink, purple and green. 

??: 'Not a hasty one, I see.' 

Autumn: "Can I ask a small question? It's to answer your quiz question." 

??: "Hmm, Okay" 

Autumn: " Which colour do you appreciate more from the two options?" 

??: "I appreciate the colour pink."

Autumn: "Then your favourite colour is option two, purple." 

??: "Oya, why do you say so? Didn't I say that I appreciate the colour pink more?" 

Autumn: " Exactly you said you appreciate the colour pink more which means you just like it as a colour as aesthetic but not as a personal preference. That leaves purple as the final option so I think it's purple." 

??: "Very good. Right, answer now my second question?" 

Autumn: 'Oh Arceus' 

Autumn was stuck answering the questions of the old lady for quite some time but he finally answered the final question. 

??: "Okay this is my final question." 

Autumn: 'Finally' 

??: " What is your name child?" 

Autumn: "Autumn, it's Autumn Oak." 

??: " My name is Opal. It was nice to meet you." 

Autumn: *nods " It was interesting meeting you as well miss Opal."

Opal: "Well I better get going now and also take this." 

Opal pulled out a pink jacket with some green highlights. She handed it over to Autumn which he accepted because he didn't know exactly what to do in this situation. So, he just took it. 

Opal: "Take that as a prize for answering my questions correct." 

Autumn: "Thank you. I guess." 

Autumn: 'Truly a weird day. Well, whatever maybe I will go for some cake and forget about it.' 

Opal: 'So, that kid is the one Leon was talking about. An interesting kid indeed maybe I should invite him to play games sometimes.' 

Autumn soon found the bakery and entered it. He made his way toward the counter and looked into different flavours. He could go for a choco mint one since it's his favourite. So, he decided to order it. 

Autumn: " Excuse me, Can I get the choco mint cake?" 

???: "Excuse me, Can I get the choco mint cake?" 

Autumn was a little surprised and looked where the voice came from. He saw a girl with blonde hair and grey eyes. Judging by her height she seemed around the age of nine. She was also looking at him but with a hint of hostility. Autumn was a little confused at first but he saw her looking at the counter where the cakes were put on display. Autumn also looked over and found the reason why there was a hint of hostility in her eyes. There was only one slice of choco mint left. 

Autumn: 'Oh boy this is going to be troublesome.'
