Chapter 15: Why do I hear boss music?

Autumn: 'Okay how should I get out of this situation. Is my luck that bad or was today an ominous day for me? First, I met a very impolite kid, After that the second I arrived at Ballonlea Town I was called out by an old lady and was forced to answer the quiz. Third, I am currently at a standstill with this girl in front of me.' 

Today has been an interesting day for Autumn. Since he came into this world there has never been a time when he had to go through a multitude of events in a single day. He just wanted to visit a new place where he could just relax and calm his mind and himself before the competition starts but this seemed to have the opposite effect instead. He was not expecting to spend his two days of holiday this way. He could tell that the girl in front of him was serious about getting her hands on the last slice and was not the one to give up. 

Autumn: 'Maybe I should just let her take the last slice. I am not in the mood to waste more energy. I just want to relax now, maybe I will go get a juice. It sucks that I can't legally drink but I think the Apple or Grape juice would be enough to satisfy my tastebuds for now.' 

Autumn looked at the last slice before looking at the girl again. 

Autumn: "You know what, 'Ladies first' you can have it. I will just order another flavour. I am not a fan of the choco mint flavour. [That was a lie]" 

The girl was a little surprised at first but soon smiles. She just nods to indicate that she was thankful and orders it on the other hand Autumn is now in a dilemma. He preferred the choco mint overall but other flavours were pretty much average to his liking. 

Autumn: "Umm sir, what flavour would you recommend?" 

Autumn decided to go with what flavour the man on the counter would recommend. He just wanted to check whether they taste as good as they were rumoured to be. He was also not willing to waste his time debating on which flavour to choose. 

Counterman: "How about the caramel mix one that's a flavour. It's sweet but also savoury and it's a perfect cake to enjoy and is popular among locals." 

Autumn: "Then I would have that also can I get an apple or a grape juice." 

Counterman: "Sure that would be ₱ 80. Please enjoy your food." 

Autumn: "Thank you for the service." 

Counterman: "You're welcome." 

Autumn then sat on a nearby chair and waited for a little while until his order was served. The first bute he took made his mood reach cloud nine. It was indeed good though Autumn is not that crazy about dessert, these sorts of desserts do put a smile on his face. 

Autumn: 'It's good no wonder this flavour is popular among the locals. The sweetness of the caramel and the texture of the cake make this a sweet and savoury treat. Now how about the juice.' 

Autumn took a small sip of the Apple juice and it was also good. 

Autumn: 'Not bad, this is indeed good although it is a little light on the flavour. I think the man on the counter had diluted it a bit since I am a kid it's still good maybe I will visit this place again in the future when I have time. Oh, I almost forgot to let Torchic have this.' 

Autumn let Torchic out and let it also taste the cake. Torchic seemed to like it but not to the point he would prefer it over other things. Autumn also looked at the place where the girl was and was surprised to see a Pokemon with her. It was a small, blue, bipedal dragon-like Pokémon. It lacked a neck but had a large mouth, filled with sharp teeth. It had two horns on its head striped blue in the middle and a large dorsal fin. It has a red underbelly and a small tail on its back. It was a Gible a dragon/ ground type pokemon. It was known for its power because all the dragon-type pokemons were powerful even in their first stages. He used his ability to see through Gible stats and was pleasantly surprised.

Gender: Female 

(A/N: I am not sure it didn't have a notch on its fin so I think it's a female.)

Level: 20

Nature: Adamant

Ability: Sand veil, Rough skin[Hidden]

Moves: Draco meteor, Sand storm, Dragon Rush, Dragon Breath, Dragon claw, Rock Smash, Stone Edge, Bite, Earthquake, Dig. 

The Gible she was with was indeed strong for its level and Autumn can also see that the Gible had a strong biting force. Autumn was impressed by the Gible stats and was in a daze but snapped out of it because the girl and the Gible were also looking at him and his Torchic. Autumn noticing their gaze just wave his hand a little and Torchic was also shaking its undeveloped wings to say hi. The girl and gible also waved their hands in response and go back to eating with Autumn following the suit. 

Autumn enjoyed his food for the time being and after finishing it he left but not before placing an order. He was thinking of bringing some for Professor Magnolia and Sonia as a souvenir. He also soon found a hotel and booked it for one night because he had to return by tomorrow. 

Autumn: 'Okay what should I do for the time being. I could just stay in the hotel but it would be a waste now since I have arrived in this Town. I was thinking of exploring this city a bit more.' 

??: "You" 

Autumn looked toward the voice and saw the same blond girl looking at him. 

Autumn: "Hello there, we meet again." 

The girl nods her head and kept staring at him. This went for quite a long time before Autumn decided to leave. He didn't want to be bothered for the rest of the day but the girl followed him. He kept on taking turns but she also kept taking on the same turns so he decided to stop and directly ask. 

Autumn: "Is there something I can do for you?" 

??: " Thank you for letting me have the last slice of the cake. It was delicious." 

Autumn: "You're welcome. Don't mention it." 

Autumn stopped for a while and seeing that the girl didn't go away he sighed again and asked her if there was something else she wanted to say to him. She nods her head and tells him something which surprised him. 

??: "I want to have a Pokemon battle with you." 

What she wanted to do was clear, she wanted a Pokemon battle but that left Autumn confused.

Why? 

Autumn: "You know we just met and you said that you were grateful for me letting you have that cake. So why do you want to battle me now?" 

Autumn was a little confused by this girl's antics. He just let her have the last slice because he didn't see it as something to fight over for. He just wanted to avoid troublesome matters and just enjoy his time. Now, the same girl he offered the last slice wanted to battle him does this even makes sense. 

??: " You look strong and I think you must be a trainer right. So, I think you should be willing to battle right." 

Autumn: "Then can I see your trainer id?" 

The girl flinched a bit at Autumn's question but she tried to hide it and avoid eye contact a little. After seeing her reaction Autumn immediately knew that she wasn't a trainer yet and why she want to battle. She must have thought that Autumn was a trainer judging by his height. So, she thought that it would be okay to challenge Autumn without thinking that Autumn would ask her to show her trainer id. 

??: "I left it somewhere but I have it. So, let's battle." 

Autumn: "You know lying is not gonna help you right?" 

The girl again looked at Autumn with an eye of guilt but Autumn didn't mind it and just sighs. 

Autumn: "You know even if you had a trainer id we won't be able to battle." 

Now this time the girl was a little surprised as to why he would say that but she soon thought of an answer. 

??: "Are you also perhaps not a trainer yet?" 

Autumn nods his head. This caused the girl to apologise for her misunderstanding. Autumn didn't take it to heart and just left it as it is. He didn't want to complicate things. 

??: "So are you going to start your journey soon?" 

Autumn: "Yes after 3 and half years. " 

This caused the girl to raise a brow as she was about to ask but Autumn interjected. 

Autumn: "I am currently 6 and a half years old if you are wondering." 

Now, this caused the girl to widen her eyes. If anyone asked her how old the boy in front of her was then she would either say the age around 9-11. She was not expecting the boy in front of her to be younger than her. 

??: "I-I apologise I didn't know you were much younger than me." 

Autumn: "Don't worry I know I am quite tall so I get that a lot. It's not that I don't want to battle you I promise that if I had the permission to battle then I would have." 

Children below the age of 10 were forbidden from battling and even if they could battle it should be under the watch of an adult. Otherwise, it's illegal for them to battle this was created as a safety measure. Only after you are 10 you will be considered eligible to battle that was the rule. 

"Then how about I oversee this match, you guys can battle then." 

A husky voice called out. Autumn knew this voice and immediately turned his head around to see Opal walking toward them. She had a calm smile on her face but there was a glint in her eyes as if to show that she had encountered something interesting. 

Autumn: 'Guess It's settled.' 

Autumn looked at the girl before asking. 

Autumn: "Should we?" 

The girl nodded her head and by the look in her eyes, she was serious. Autumn seeing this smiled he hasn't done a Pokemon battle ever since he came into this world so he was also a little excited to battle again. 

Opal: "Alright it seems both of you are ready by the way what is your name girl?" 

Cynthia: "It's Cynthia mam and what about you and also you?" 

Opal: "My name is Opal and I am the gym leader of this town." 

This caused Cynthia and Autumn to be surprised. Cynthia was surprised because she wasn't expecting to meet the gym leader while Autumn wasn't expecting her to be the gym leader because of her age. He thought that she should have been a retired gym leader even if she was the gym leader. 

Opal: "Okay let's not wait any longer and head to the Ballonlea Gym." 

Inside the stadium of Ballonlea Gym... 

Cynthia and Autumn were standing opposite each other and were looking at each other. One was calm but also had a hint of anxiety while the other was calm and collected but his eyes were serious. Let it be the past life or this life Autumn had never held back anything, he followed the way of chivalry in his past life. He also respected that way so he had never held back against anyone even if those who challenged him were weaker than him. Opal soon entered the stadium and observed the two. She first looked at Cynthia. 

[Cynthia's theme insert] 

The girl exuded a spirit of confidence and power. She was also standing in a graceful posture although not perfect it was still amazing for someone of her age. She also saw a burning fire in her eyes. It was burning with determination and dominance. 

Opal: 'Good this girl has the right spirit. Those eyes are truly marvellous to look at. Truly an unpolished gem now let's see how that kid is.' 

Opal looked at Autumn but as soon as she saw him. 

*Freeze

She froze for a moment an unknown terror gripped her heart, mind and body. She knew this feeling was fear. A fear that only rises within oneself if one encounters someone who is above them. A chilling sensation ran down her spine after many ages. While Opal was feeling that Cynthia couldn't feel anything because she was not at that level yet where she can feel Autumn's true strength. 

The Spirit that Autumn exuded was like the unknown depths of the Ocean but that was not the thing that terrified her. It was his eyes. Instead of youthful eyes burning with passion his eyes were like that of an apex predator. The Passionate flames that can be found when you look at the young trainers were no where to be found instead there was this old smouldering ember that gave an unrivalled sense. It showed the demeanour of someone whose spirit was saying, 'The battleground is my backyard.' 

Opal calmed herself down she can not be intimidated by someone younger than her but this still didn't alleviate her worries. She cleared her throat before speaking.

Opal: "This unofficial Pokemon battle will now begin each one will use one Pokemon and the winner will be decided when either one of the Pokemon faints." 

Both nodded to this and took out their Pokeball. Cynthia and Autumn send out their Pokemon at the same time. 

"Gible" 

"Torchic" 

Opal: "Now Begin" 

Cynthia was the first one to call out a move. 

Cynthia: "Gible use bite." 

Gible teeth sharpened a bit she opened her mouth and charged towards Torchic. Autumn had yet to call out his move. As Gible was about to close in on Torchic Autumn called his move. 

Autumn: "Torchic use agility to dodge." 

Torchic barely dodges the incoming attack by a hair's breadth but Autumn was not finished. 

Autumn: "Now immediately use one of your talons to get a grip then use agility to spin in one leg and use scratch." 

Autumn swiftly instructed Torchic on what to do next. Torchic also immediately went into action and used one of his talons to get a grip then used Agility to spin on one leg which built up a momentum and then he used Scratch on Gible which was a critical hit. 

Cynthia: "Gible you okay?" 

"Gible" 

Gible responded, but she was not okay she just received a critical blow from Torchic and everything happened so fast that she and her trainer couldn't keep up. 

Autumn didn't have a habit of wasting any opportunity given during battle. He would use that moment to do serious damage to his opponents. He used Gible's speed against it by telling Torchic to dodge it at the last second so that Gible wouldn't have time to respond but the MVP of this was something else... 

'???????? ???????????? ????????????????????' 

Autumn and Torchic had a very good bond and to Autumn Torchic was like his own family, he trained him, taught new moves to him and gave him the love and care he deserves, on the other hand, Torchic held a huge respect for his Trainer and had faith in him. He believed in his trainer's judgment more than anything. So, he was not that nervous when Autumn didn't order him to make a move but he waited for his trainer's command because he trusts him. 

Cynthia: "Okay Gible use dig." 

Gible dug the ground beneath and buried itself underground. This caused Torchic to be in a little panic because it was the first time he lost sight of his opponent which was a little concerning but before things could get worse Autumn called out to Torchic. 

Autumn: "Torchic" 

Torchic looked at Autumn. 

Autumn: "Stay calm, it will come when it comes. Stay focused and calm your mind." 

Torchic heard what Autumn said and calmed down a glint appeared in its eyes and a red aura rose up. Torchic has learned Calm Mind. Autumn saw this and grinned he was not expecting such a pleasant surprise. 

Autumn: ' Nice it learned a very good enhancing move.'

(A/N: Not sure whether it can learn it but whatever.) 

Autumn: 'Okay I think Gible will be coming out soon and Torchic might not avoid it with Agility, in that case.' 

Autumn: "Torchic use Endure." 

Torchic braced himself for impact and soon enough Gible came out and flung Torchic up from the ground. Since dig was a ground-type move it was super effective against a fire type like Torchic but it managed to Endure and at the same moment Autumn called out his move. 

Autumn: "Use flamethrower now." 

Torchic used flamethrower on Gible but it was not that effective but it did a lot more damage thanks to calm mind Torchic used earlier. This caused Torchic to go even further up from the ground since his angle of trajectory was downwards when he used the flamethrower but that's exactly what Autumn wanted. 

Autumn: 'Alright time to finish this.' 

Autumn: "Torchic use agility combined with flame charge and rush toward Gible." 

Torchic followed Autumn's command and used agility and flame charge and at the same time Torchic's hidden ability Speed boost also kicked in. Seeing how Torchic was advancing toward Gible Cynthia also called out her move. 

Cynthia: " Gible use Dragon Rush face it head-on." 

Gible horns glowed a bit before it charged toward Torchic with amazing momentum. Opal saw this and was sure that Gible will win if she hits Torchic because Torchic had to endure a super effective move not too long ago and even if they clash head-on Gible had a high chance of winning. She looked at Autumn but instead of seeing him nervous or anything she saw him grinning, this was all part of his plan. 

Autumn: "Now send it back on the ground, raise your talons and Swipe them down using Night slash." 

Torchic raised its talons as he was almost on striking range. Seeing this Cynthia widened her eyes and quickly ordered Gible to dodge. 

Cynthia: "Gible dodge it." 

But it was too late Gible couldn't dodge midway and had to confront Night Slash head-on. The result was obvious Gible couldn't handle it and fell to the ground and raised some dust in the battleground. After some time when the dust cleared up, Gible was laying on the ground unconscious. Autumn and Torchic had won this battle. 

Opal: "Gible is unable to battle, the one still standing is Torchic and thus the winner of this match is Autumn." 

"Torchic" 

Torchic cried out in happiness while Autumn just nodded his head but there was a smile on his face. He then made his way toward Cynthia who was comforting Gible. Cynthia noticed Autumn and Torchic were coming toward her and became a little curious about what are they going to do. Autumn looked at Gible who was a little sad after losing the battle. He slowly raised his hand and moved it towards Gible's head and slowly started to pet her. 

"Gible" 

Gible looked at Autumn in surprise not because he was petting her but because she could feel that her injuries were healing. Autumn was using Aura to heal Gible though he did make sure to do it in a way so that others won't see. 

Autumn: "You were really strong. Thank you for such an amazing battle it was fun." 

"Torchic" 

Torchic also nodded its head. Today was truly a fruitful day for all four of them. Autumn slowly let go of Gible when he nearly healed all of its injuries. He then looked at Cynthia and smiled. 

Autumn: "Thank you it was a magnificent battle." 

Cynthia didn't say anything right now her face didn't show any emotions but if one observed carefully there was a small blush on her face. She soon snapped out of it and also smiled. 

Cynthia: "Yea it was thank you for giving us a great battle. We will challenge you again in the future." 

Autumn: "If it's fated then we shall meet again. Then maybe we can have a rematch." 

Cynthia: *nods

Cynthia nodded to herself then she took out Gible's Pokeball and called Gible back into its ball. She then looked at Autumn one last time before saying. 

Cynthia: "I have to go now hope we meet again." 

Autumn nodded and said goodbye and Cynthia exited the stadium Autumn also relaxed which caused the spirit around him to disappear like it was not even there in the first place. 

Autumn: "Okay how should I spend the rest of the day now." 

Autumn murmured he just finished a battle and now was wondering what should he do. Opal heard this and got an idea. 

Opal: "I know what you can do." 

Autumn: 'Oh boy not again.' 

Opal: " You, battle me." 

Autumn: "Huh" 

Now Autumn was at the end of the ropes about to lose his sanity. So many things had happened today and he was exhausted by all this but now he had to battle a gym leader. Oh hell no he already was not in the mood and condition to battle a gym leader right now. Autumn tried to run but was stopped. 

Opal: "What? Want to run you wouldn't get a chance unless you battle me first." 

Autumn: "It's not that I don't want to battle you. You see me and Torchic just finished a battle and we are exhausted right now so we can't have a battle." 

"Torchic" 

Opal: "Then how about tomorrow." 

Autumn: *Tch 'How persistence since it has come to this then.' 

Autumn: "I am sorry but tomorrow I have to return I promised to return to the lab by evening tomorrow so I don't think I can battle you sorry." 

Opal: "Hmm if that's the case then I will arrange something for you so that you can return to the lab in time. So, I think tomorrow you should be able to battle me right." 

Autumn: 'Seriously' 

Autumn was now in a pinch and didn't have any escape route. Suddenly an idea came into his mind and he smiled. 

Autumn: " Okay miss Opal since you are this serious about this then I guess I have no choice but to battle you." 

Opal: "It's good that you understand I will be waiting." 

Autumn: 'Screw this by the time it's morning tomorrow I will be gone.' 

Autumn then headed back to his hotel and started to read the book he brought. This is how he spent the rest of his day and after having dinner he went to bed he had to make a run tomorrow, early in the morning.
