Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Finding the blue gem

Eating something quickly Gorn resumed his gaming session.

"Let's do this. Today I must find that blue gem."

He made himself comfortable and opened the laptop. Following a certain route, Gorn evaded all of the monsters.

"Now, this is a little tricky."

At a certain area, he needed to focus intensely to get the timing right, otherwise, he would be swarmed by a group of wolves.

"Phew, did it!"

Next were werewolves, however, the werewolves traveled alone, so avoiding them was not that hard, it just took some time.
After a few hours, Gorn saw in the distance an enormous tree. The tree's trunk seemed to have a hole in it. Carefully analyzing the surroundings Gorn approached the gigantic tree. When he was at a certain distance, he could spot something shining inside that hole.

"Jackpot!"

It was the blue gem he needed to find.

"Who said you need to kill everything to get here?"

His strategy was possible only after dying dozens of times. If this was reality, there was no way he could adopt the same tactic so worry-free.
Around the tree were a few werewolves patrolling. In the time it takes to make tea, Gorn found the opportunity he was waiting for.

"Now!"

It was do or die. Sprinting with all his power Gorn arrived in front of the tree. The blue gem was sparkling mysteriously, waiting to be picked up by someone. Grabbing the gem, Gorn returned to a safe position.

Congratulations! You have completed the main mission!

The blue crystal melted in his hand while disappearing.

You have gained a new skill: Energy bullet.

Energy bullet: Using your index finger you can form a small ball of energy. The more energy you use the stronger the attack becomes. The skill has no cooldown. The minimum energy required to use the skill is one.

Gorn took his right hand off the laptop and raised it into the air. Focusing on his index finger a small ball of energy appeared on top of it. Pointing at the wall he imagined pulling a trigger. The energy ball reached the wall in under a second, making a loud noise, and leaving a small, deep hole behind.

"This is just like a gun, it can easily kill a human being."

Glancing at the laptop Gorn saw a new message popped up.

You have received a new mission: Kill 300 wild dogs; 200 wolves; 100 werewolves.
Quest reward: Power up potion

By this time the werewolves were back at the tree. The disappearance of the blue gem did not cause any commotion at all.
Gorn aimed at one of the creatures. Spending three points of energy he aimed at the head of the beast.

"Go!"

The bullet arrived almost immediately. In the next second a hole appeared in the monster's chest. His aim was a little off. Unfortunately for him, the wound quickly healed, at a speed visible to the naked eye.

"Hey, isn't that a little too fast?"

Spending another three points Gorn made another shot. This time he hit the monster's head. The results were instant death.

"Good!"

Being in a good mood Gorn started to sing something.

"Status!"

Strength: 10+2
Agility 10
Endurance: 10
Energy: 3/10; Regeneration:1/minute

Items: Legs: Leather pants
Skills: Energy bullet

"This was exactly what I was missing, a good attack method."

Spending the last energy points Gorn killed another werewolf.

"Now we wait for the energy to replenish, and repeat."

Taking his normal phone Gorn sent a message to Bellona.

>Hey, this is Gorn, how are you?

He wasn't sure if it was the right decision to be around that girl, but in the end, decided to give her a message.
After three minutes, another werewolf met his maker.

>Hey Gorn, I'm really sorry about last time. The thing is that I...I have some light anger management issues.

'Well, if that's light, I can't even imagine what's to have a severe problem of this kind,' thought Gorn.

>No problem.

>I talked to the manager of the complex, so you don't have to worry about a thing. I have some work to do now, have a nice day.

>Thank you, same to you.

"Could have been worse right?"

It was hard approaching such a woman, but he did not mind it. His attention returned to his laptop. When he had enough energy, a shot was made. His accuracy wasn't perfect, but that was a problem that could be solved with time.

"What's this?"

On his tenth kill, Gorn found something.

Red orb of power: Can increase your stats by one. Cannot exceed thirty. If the stat is below twenty, two points will be granted.

"Finally! Use it immediately or keep it?"

It wasn't a very bad decision to keep it, but he couldn't resist the temptation.

Energy +2

The energy bullet was now his best way of killing these monsters. The best, and only way actually when it came to werewolves.

"The more energy I have the more I can farm."

Gorn adjusted the power of his energy bullet, experimenting with a few other possibilities. After a few tries, the best way to kill a werewolf was still using three points of energy.
