The boars landed on the ground with a loud thud. She glanced at the eager pups that drooled over the boars, hearing each and every compliment. These boars that she hunted down were big and plump. They were still warm to the touch with fresh blood dripping from the single strike through their heads. The wolf looked up at her. It did say first thing in the morning, but the sun was just barely over the horizon.
"I've kept my end of the promise, but I will throw in a duck if you answer a question of mine," she said as she showed the duck in her hand.
Tempted by the duck, it answered, '...Alright. What is it?'
"What are the demon king's intentions?"
'I do not know. I simply live under his rule like how humans live under their king's rule. There are closer aides and attendees that serve directly under him, though I do not know who.'
"Alright, thank you."
She threw in the duck and left the area. Although the wolf had a little more information than her, she still couldn't figure out what was with this new demon king. Those who do not serve the demon king are simply 'citizens' and do not participate in approaching humans. Maybe she'll get more information once she reach the capital and become a mage there.
When she reached back to the campsite, Noah was already awake, cooking a pheasant he caught by the fire. It smelled delicious. She had been eating jerky and dried fruits the past two days to fill her stomach because she was too lazy to hunt. Now greeted with a delicious bird, her stomach couldn't help grumbling.
"It'll be ready soon," Noah said and looked at her bloody hands.
Before he can ask, she washed her hands and explained, "I went to hunt boars for the wolf. It's payment for letting you off."
She also never thought she would go hunting and realize that she had no blades. With no choice, she had to use her hands to strike a blow to the boars. Once she's in the capital, she should go look for some blades. Buying items from the system shop will quickly diminish her exp points.
He looked at her with a blank expression. Mages excelled in ranged combat, but this was his first time hearing and seeing a mage who also excelled in melee combat. His negative first impression of her was washed away since she rescued him. Now, he didn't know whether to be cautious or not around her. How can such a powerful being exist without being noticed?
His focus quickly shifted onto the bird. Although he had numerous questions, he didn't want to be rude.
She stared at him. Now in the sunlight, she could see how handsome he was. Like her, he had black hair but sky blue eyes. He was youthful with long lashes and plump lips. There was even a mole below his eye. In other words, he's an eye candy. Though it was a shame he doesn't show much expressions.
"It's ready," he said and tore half the bird to her.
"Thanks," she happily savored the hotly cooked meat. It's been two days since her last hot meal, and she missed it so much!

In the end, he didn't ask a single questions because of how chatty she was. However, her chattiness ended up answering all of his burning questions, such as how she understood the wolf, why she rescued him, and where she was headed.
"It's just one of my abilities to understand animals, including demons. Anyway, we're getting quite close to the capital. If you want to head on to the palace first, be my guest. I'm going to look for weapons," Yulia said as the capital came into view.
"I'll... follow you," he hesitantly said. Truthfully, because he's a commoner, he hasn't been in the capital before. His village was far from the capital, and he doesn't stay in any big cities for long. He may even get lost and embarrass himself. For a hero, he sure wasn't acting his part, and for that, he felt ashamed.

"No biggie. You might need a new weapon too," Yulia said, not noticing his inner thoughts. She was rather occupied thinking about the heroine and foreign male lead. This was the place that they should've gathered in, including that foreign male lead.
As long as they paid the entrance fee at the gate, they were free to enter. The city streets were crowded, so they got off their horses and walked around. With 404 guiding them, they didn't get lost.
System 404: [Weapon shop to your right.]
'Found it.'
She opened the door, and the owner behind the countertop welcomed her. Blades and weapons alike laid in front of her eyes. Her eyes sparkled as she went to look around. A wide smile dawned on her face as she picked up one sword of the twin broadswords. Their sharpness was like no other, and they were light to carry around. She swung the sword around, testing with trial and error.
"Ya like it?" The owner asked with a chuckle, and seeing how much she liked them, he added, "I'll throw in a discount if ya buy another one. How 'bout one for yer kid brother?"
Yulia looked back at him, and he looked at her. He was standing by the door, seemingly uninterested. Because of their black hair, they've been mistaken as siblings, but neither of them corrected the owner.
System 404: [What's that sly look on your face for?]
'So, I'm the older sister... Hehe, I guess it does look like that when he's that young-looking. I wonder if he's actually younger though.'
System 404: [Host, you're forever 29 years old, since you died at that age, so of course you'll be older.]
'You're making me sound like an old hag. I'm forever 25 as my default age in these worlds, unless you decide to put me in a child or old person's body.'
Setting her conversation with 404 aside, she quickly accepted the misunderstanding and beckoned him over. He obediently came over as he was told.
"Choose any weapon of your choice. I'll treat you," Yulia said with a smile.
"No, it's fine—“
"What are ya sayin'? Yer sister is treatin' ya. Just pick n' choose, kid. Don't make 'er go back on 'er words. I tell ya, sisters can be mean n' nice. Haha!" the owner laughed loudly with one hand on his stomach.
"Hehe, of course, I'm such a kind older sister, I tell you," Yulia chuckled, going along with the owner's words. She found it fun to finally be able to tease him again after being the only one talking during the trip.
His brows slightly furrowed in embarrassment with cheeks flushing red, and his lips slightly pout. Her smile widened even more upon finally receiving a reaction and a cute reaction at that too. Noticing her expression, the owner laughed even more and told him, "Don't let 'er tease ya too much, kid. Look at ‘er, she's havin' too much fun with it!"
Noah walked away, finally looking at the blades and weapons in the shop. His brows was still furrowing and cheeks dyed in red. Yulia brought the twin broadswords up to the counter, waiting for Noah. The owner nudged her to get her attention.
