Chapter 7: Leaving Grim Island

Mai paid no heed to Ace's dazed expression.

Her carefree demeanor made it impossible for her to inquire about irrelevant matters.

Gazing towards Zoro direction, she smiled slightly.

"I assume you are interested in recruiting this little guy?"

Ace throw away his previous doubts, as he asked her in interest.

"Why do you think so?"

Mai answered with a mischievous tone.

"Your previous course of actions revealed your intentions. Bluntly speaking, a super strong individual such as yourself won't bother paying any attention to such a weakling."

Zoro's face was ugly, gritting his teeth, he said with difficulty.

"Nosy woman! I am not weakling.."

However, his eyes shone with a little hope.

Jhonny and Yusako on the side started clamoring.

"Yes, yes, shameless woman. Zoro Aniki is just not feeling well today."

"That's right. It must be the food in that restaurant was poisonous."

"Yusako, Jhonny... Just shut up."

Zoro blushed.

Mai laughed elegantly, as she hides her lower face with her white fan.

Ace watched their 'warm' interactions with amusement.

Actually, he just wanted to imitate Kaido's way of recruiting. Break your foe's resolve, and easily subdue him.

He thought Zoro as a main character with an honorable halo, won't collapse so easily, but it seems that his own protagonist halo is quite terrifying.

Even a man of Zoro's calibre, was stunned on the spot.

He can swear that Zoro's gaze towards him was full of desire and urgency, 

Ace looked towards Mai, and nodded in approval, admitting her guess.

"You are right. I do have this idea. Although this guy is currently weak, his potential is quite great. I wanted to recruit him in a more tender way, but after witnessing his unbridled arrogance, I could only teach him a small lesson."

Zoro hid his ecstasy deep down, as he asked in a deep tone.

"Recruiting me? are you a pirate?"

"Yes, what? Are you despising me?"

"No, you are strong. I decided to follow you, learn from you, and then defeat you. There can only be one strongest swordsman, and that can only be me. Even if it's you captain, I'll never give up!"

Ace could only nod, as not to break his already fragile pride even more.

For Zoro, following this young man means spying on a corner of the world he never knew it exists before.

While he is stubborn, he could tell through the conversation of this duo that he was quite despised.

He was very uncomfortable.

Therefore, as a simple head, he came with a simple plan.

'Since can't defeat, you can only join.'

Ace gave Mai an inquiring look.

Nami pouted at his reaction, but soon, turned nervous again.

"Ace, let's run away. That Kuro bastard and those marines are crazy. They actually team up to plant bombs all over this island. Damn, if it weren't for them, my gains are guaranteed to at least double."

After finishing her complaining, she was taken back by the additional number of people.

"Hmm, who are they?!"

Ace answered leisurely, as he thought about Kuro actions.

'Did he start his plan? Even the marines were caught off guard by that Jango guy...'

"The green haired guy and the sexy ninja are our new members, as for those two ugly blue and green creatures are irrelevant."

Jhonny and Yusako faces turned green, but dare not to comment.

Zoro's face turned black, while Mai showed a happy smile.

"Sexy ninja? Lord is quite insightful."

Nami looked towards this shameless woman, and felt a sense of malice unknowingly.

"Then, let's leave here."

Ace decided instantly to leave this soon to be quagmire.

"But lord, there are bombs, shouldn't we help the innocent civilians?"

Mai looked at Ace with an unbearable look.

"I didn't see it before, you are actually a partner of justice."

Ace said in mocking tone.

"Of course. Helping the weak and innocent is my ninja way!"

Mai said tenderly, as if not hearing his sarcastic remarks.

Actually, she is lying. She just wanted to savor more of her lord's power.

Nami besides him had her eyes turned to ßß shape.

Saving means more money to rob.

Zoro just looked towards him, but didn't express anything. As for the irrelevant Jhonny and Yusako, it doesn't matter.

For Ace, strangers lives doesn't matter to him.

He is a pirate. Saving others isn't his responsibility, in addition, such unthoughtful acts will only bring him troubles in the long way.

He is not a marine.

He doesn't mind to help if it was an acquaintance or a potential Crewmate, however, for strangers, he is really not that interested.

But seeing Mai and Nami insisting, he could only do it reluctantly.

His perception haki hurriedly scanned the whole island.

Finding Kuro and his group, along with the hidden bombs, the corner of his mouth raised in a sneer.

The five people beside Ace was almost blinded by the strong light generated from the flames.

The dragon talisman corresponding to 'blasting' showed it's might unabashedly.

Coordinating with his see and hearing haki, the ray turned into a laser shot that soon disappeared in a blink of eye, towards the lively town.

At the same time, a humongous will was unleashed from his body, swept the entire island, easily disarming those primitive bombs, destroying their inner circuits.

Not much after, a huge explosion sounded, generating a massive cloud of dust.

The inertia of this explosion brings about a cyclone that almost blow away all the buildings in the island.

Even Ace and his party that were far away, had their hairs and clothes dancing due the high rise air blast.

The blasting ray turned Kuro and his friends into ashes, the same for marines.

The area in radius of hundreds of meters was turned to massive dark hole that connected with the sea beneath.

Surely, this hole will soon turn into a small river.

The lively island soon lost it's vibrant nature, and turned chaotic.

On Ace's side.

Nami, Mai, Zoro and his two friends looked at Ace in shock.

For Nami and Zoro, those guys with little knowledge, they only felt powerful and mighty.

But Mai in particular was different.

"What a fearsome will! What a vast spirit. No loss, this man exceeded my outmost expectations."

Her face flushed, as her eyes were full of admiration.

Ace who calmly watched their reactions, knew that he succeeded into creating a very powerful impression in the mind of his three crewmates.

"Nami, what are you waiting for? Hurry up and carry on your mission."

Hearing Ace's reminder, her eyes lighted in enthusiasm.

She didn't forgot to bring Zoro and his two little brothers as a free laborers.

A day later.

An inconspicuous small ship left the dock calmly.

Ace sitting on the front boat deck, was casually playing with a strangely shaped light pink fruit with a deep green root.

This is the devil fruit that was found by Nami.

According to the system, it was the sube sube no mi (smooth fruit.) Priced at 300 million ßerry.

Why is it so expensive?

Ask women.

"Captain, is that devil fruit really as precious as you say?"

Nami's face was full of doubt. If the fruit wasn't stored in a sturdy looking treasure chest, she would never pick it up, wasting a space for more precious things.

Zoro caught his bulging head in pain, choosing to forebear in silence wisely.

Ace choose to ignore their shenanigans.

Nami robbed more than 270 million cash plus some jewelry and precious treasures, which added up to 370+ million ßerry.

Ace would feel like a villain if he confiscated her money, so he took the not so attractive devil fruit in her treasure satchel.

Adding up another 150 million of his own, he stacked up ten times a gift package.

"Receive."

Soon, a multi-colored light, only seen by him, jumped from the system screen light, and crashed into his head.

Closing his eyes, a stream of information was soon transmitted inside his head.

Opening his eyes, he was quite shocked by this gift.

"With this, the trouble of a weak crew could be forgotten. Even a 'mere' Nami can grow up to Admiral level..."

Ace looked at the rowdy bunch, and couldn't help but sigh in relief.

He was quite troubled by the idea of having a weak crewmates acting as a heavyweight, the rumored pig teammates.

Fortunately, after this gift package was delivered, he can sail in this sea more boldly with godly teammates.
