Despite coming across like a deranged psychopath, Otrea wasn’t half bad as far as kidnappers went. Instead of throwing me into a dungeon cell, she gave me an actual room.

My own little corner of her underground cavern system. I had a real bed with blankets and fluffy pillows, plus a few other random pieces of furniture. She even provided me with sleepwear.

Sadly my new pajamas were not warm comfy fleece, but beggars cannot be choosers. I was just happy to have something to change into at bedtime. Even if all it ended up being was a wool sweater that was easily five sizes too big for me.

Frustratingly, leaving the room was nearly impossible for me. There wasn’t so much as a single lit candle anywhere in Otrea’s caverns. Only in my bedroom were there a few oil lamps I could use. Each of them far too large and unwieldy to carry in the hand.

Laying on my bed I waited for Harriette to arrive. I was curious about this girl Otrea had referred to as one of her prized pets. Was she human? Or some kind of human-hybrid like me? Or was she a giant talking spider?

For the love of my sanity, please don’t be the last one.

After waiting for awhile a light tapping sound reached my ears from my bedroom door. “Come in!”

Pushing the door open was a rather tall silver-haired woman with a pair of glowing iridescent horns sticking out of her forehead. As she moved fully into view I also noticed a rather thick silver-scaled tail coming out of her backside. Suddenly I felt really blessed my tail was little more than a little poof.

“How are you feeling little rabbit?”

“I feel fine given the circumstances, I take it you are Harriette?”

“That is correct.” Harriette replied, her eyes momentarily glowing. “And you are Bernice. Did I pronounce that correctly?”

“How did you do that?!” I asked, gazing wide-eyed at Harriette.

“[Analyze] is an ability available to all sentient creatures. Do you mind if I inspect you for head trauma?”

“Umm… that won’t be necessary. I didn’t hit my head, I just didn’t get the best education.”

“Then you are a failure cast out by your people due to your own ineptitude? Are you truly capable of serving Lady Otrea?”

Ugh… for a cute dragon girl, this chick is kind of rude.

I guarantee it. As long as we find the beans and make some basic equipment, I can make Miss Otrea’s espresso.”

Lady Otrea. If you intend to serve my mistress, you will start by using the correct form of address.”

“Yes ma’am.” I mumbled willing [Analyze] to activate.
