Chapter 5: Volume 1—Chapter 5—Monsters in Trouble

Far off in another land

A war was brewing between two nations, the fight to claim a certain land and the right to subjugate the free Forest of Monsters.

One could see a man with a long brown beard and balding head sitting at his desk in deep thought.

His nation Federban was closest to the Forest of Monsters, but since it was right off the border of his land he has no claims over it.

This is why he's been having conflicts with the nation due east because they lie on the other side of the Forest of Monsters and they too wish to lay claims on the land.

It seems that even now the Forest of Monsters belongs to no one, with it being a large plot of plains and resources that could not be found anywhere else, the Forest of Monsters was the cause of all wars.

Even though the land was a place where monsters live, it had additional features that had humans running there to defeat monsters so that they could rack in big money from the dungeons that appear on the regular. 

This is why Baren Garrett was in a bit of a situation where his rights to enter the Forest of Monsters were being threatened. 

Since the Forest of Monsters was free, just about anyone could enter, and usually, he had no problems entering the forest. But while his soldiers were raiding a dungeon inside, a phenomenon that could not be explained, caused a large burst of miasma to cloud one part of the forest.

This strange happening could only mean one or two things, a new demon lord was born, or a dungeon with a Godly award appeared.

Baron Garrett leans back while looking down at the detailed map sketch that was drawn by his strategist.

Those damn Eastern Folk just had to enter right when his soldiers entered, it seems they had a bundle of Mages ready to test out the miasma.

Was it possible that they predicted the thing that was going to happen?

What was the cause of the phenomenon? 

He has to be the first one to find out what caused the disturbance in the forest, even if it meant starting a war with a large nation such as Eastern Gatin.

There was a knock on his door and the nation's strategist walked in carrying a load of paperwork.

"My Lord, I found information on Eastern Gatin's recent movements. Looks like they bought a bundle of Magic items." Strategist Han says lying the paperwork on Baron Garrett's desk.

He picked up one of the papers to view it closely, "I see, these items, they're all for dungeon detecting. is this all there was?" He asked flipping through each paper.

"It looks like the Eastern Gatin had been immobilizing large groups of soldiers along with escorting someone around the forest." His strategist tells him.

This was a problem, if that was the case, it's apparent that they knew something he didn't and they might be the first to have access to it.

There's no way he'll sit back and let them be the first to take whatever it was.

 

Meanwhile...

 

The oblivious monsters are living their lives well in the forest named by humans. Especially the protagonist who was learning more about how to use the mana that she has inherited from Bolivia, the High Elf.

I opened my eyes and tightened my fist as I noticed the white flow of mana surrounding my body. This is what it feels like to finally have the ability to use magic!

I still have a long way to go. As I am now. it will be hard to use magic more accurately than most beings. Having an Orc's constitution means that I would be limited with the use of my growing mana.

I'll need to Evolve into something much greater than that of an orc.

"You did better than most would have, you should be proud that you learned Mana Concentration in just two days," Bolivia says matter-of-factly.

I know she's right, but if I want to survive in this world I must be at the top of the food chain.

"It's bad!" An elf came into my hut his face was red and he looked as though he had just run a long way.

After agreeing to become Bolivia's Kin the other elves were released and immediately treated me as their new mistress.

It was like I thought, once one is accepted by a High Elf, the rest of the elves will follow and also accept you.

"Oat, how dare you enter as you please. Bow down to the Mistress!" Bolivia snaps while glaring in Oat's direction.

Oat instantly bows to the ground, "my apologies for my interruption, Mistress. May this lowly elf report to the Mistress?" Oat asked face to the ground.

Elves are usually very arrogant creatures, they don't normally bow to others easily. Just seeing it happen before my own eyes is still hard to fathom.

"Don't be so hard on him Bolivia," I told her ordering the elf to stand.

Bolivia gave me a shake of her head, "if the mistress is too kind then ruling the monsters that come in the future will resort to an unbalance nation." She warns me.

I knew this already, I don't tend to be some weak ruler without a strong and strict ruling. It's just that I pity the elf that looked ready to pass out at any moment from running here.

"Now Oat, please explain why it's bad."

He looked frantic before speaking again, "it's the humans, they entered the forest and are fighting the orcs and elves of our home!" He says in a rush.

I remember sending a few elves and orcs out to collect more food for the village. It seems that they got caught up with some humans just now.

I felt my rage boil, for those humans to dare lay their hands on my people, I'll eat them all!

I stood from the throne, "lead the way." I ordered.

Bolivia grabbed my arm "I'm coming as well!" She says.

I nod and using all the strength that I got from eating an Orc Chief, I carried Bolivia and Oat to the destination that Oat directed me towards.

Wait for me my monsters, I'll be sure to kill every human that dares to kill my people!
