Chapter 7: Partners

(Louis' side)

The sound of talking wakened me up. It was Adam who took his cow back. I saw the clock. It was 10:29 am. After a moment, Sarah went back home.

"Why are you going back? You are not working today?"

'You are awake?'

"Yes, answer me please!"

'It's Saturday! I just gave back the cow to Adam.'

After getting home, she began reading a book. I found out she read the same novel as I did before I died, of course. I didn't talk much because it was a new chapter and I found it interesting. After finishing reading, she went out with her shopping bag. I guess she finished her tomatoes for yesterday's spaghetti.

After we went into the mall, she began to talk.

'Tell me, parasite. What you will do when you die?'

"I believe I won't die for a long time."

She put some tomatoes into her shopping cart.

'Normal parasites have a life spent of  7 years. How about you?'

"I don't think I can die... Unless my host is dead. If you die, I will go find another host."

She put some cucumber in her cart.

'Are you enjoying your life?'

"Yes. You eat healthily, so I'm healthy too. You have a normal lifestyle, and so do I. I'm also interested in your book that you just read."

'What? Why?'

"Sarah... Do you think skills exist?"

I thought about this too. I always see novels where the main character has tons of skills and kills the antagonist with them. I hoped that skills will appear and I can somehow see them.

But, they don't and I know that. We live in a harsh world where is just reality.

'No.' I said firmly.

"That's funny." He said with a chuckle.

"No one knows that there are skills everywhere and it just happened that 2 of the skills that you have are powerful!"

What? Do skills exist? And I have 2 powerful skills. Why didn't I know? He's just bluffing. He must read what I read since he was interested. After paying for what I bought, I headed out.

'That's a joke right?' I asked.

"When I ever told you a joke?"

"I can sense that your heart is pumping fast. Are you excited?"

'What skills do I have?' I asked without answering his question.

"Ones for better memory and ones for better vision."

'How can you prove it?'

"Ha! I see you still don't trust me!"

I tried looking back and it did. I adjusted my vision to see better and it did too! But when did it know?

'When did you know that I have skills?'

"When you were looking for me in the cow's body. If I were you, I sure have difficulty seeing myself. I was very well hidden, but you still saw me."

'I saw you with MRI...'

"But... I also sense your killing intent. If you can't find my eyes, you can't give such killing intent."

'That much? Even in seconds? Are you joking?'

"I never joked until now. Do you want to know all your skills?"

'Yes.'

"Your skills are Quick understanding, memory recall type 5, and eagle eye"

'Wow. I didn't even know that there are so many things that we don't understand until now. I had some weird experiences in the past because of those skills.'

[Conditions have been met. The parasite talked to its host about something the host didn't know about its stats. The skill 'Inspect' and 'Partner' added to your skills. An additional skill is added. The skill 'Stats' used for seeing self-stats is now activated. You can see your stats now.]

What? What was that? A female robot sound just sounded in my ears. I looked around but saw no one. I'm scared now. Am I still on earth? But it was obvious because I still see other people living everyday life.

I want to try something:

'Stats!' I said out loud.

Suddenly, a blue screen appeared in front of me like what they say in novels. I can see my stats now!

Age: 19 years, 278 days, 13 hours, 48 minutes, and 49 seconds

Species: Human (Homo Sapiens)

Body status: Energetic

Skills: Quick understanding, memory recall type 5, eagle eye, inspect, partner

Titles: DVM, merciful]

I see that I have the skills 'inspect'. I guess it's with that thing you can see others' stats. I want to try another thing.

'Inspect 'partner'.' I said out loud too.

People began noticing me and looked at me awkwardly. I looked back at them and smiled. I rushed to my car and looked at the blue screen.

[The skill 'partner' is used when two living things with intelligence interact with each other and talk for at least a day and is in a good term for now. There are different use for it.

1. You can talk to your 'partner' whenever and wherever it is even in another dimension or universe.

2. You can see all its stats and status.

3. You can see its current form and original form whenever and wherever you are.

4. You will be informed when and where it's dead.

5. If you are on good terms with it in its lifetime, you and it can revive you from death, teleport to it in another dimension to live with it, or fuse with it.

Of course, if you betray each other, you will receive a heavy punishment. It will be the same whatever you do.]

Wow.

After seeing this, I suddenly remember that I bought ice cream and we are out for 30 minutes. Going back right now!
