Chapter 109: Something To Hide

'He is not who he claims to be.'

Jasmine glanced at Dairon as soon as she read King Rian's thoughts. Was he thinking about him? Who did Dairon claim to be? No, the main point was, why would King Rian have that kind of thought?

King Rian looked at her and she stopped reading his mind. It was uncertain whether or not he had realized it but he smiled and she was confused. What did that mean? She looked at Dairon and wondered how come she had been unable to read his mind ever since he locked her out.

She shifted in her seat. If she could read everyone's mind, did that mean her mind could be read too? If that was the case, then her thoughts could give the scheming family the ammunition she needed.

"Are you aware that the cause of Pearl's death was erased from the past?" King Rian asked her, pulling her out of her thoughts and she frowned.

"Why am I the one being interrogated when you all think Dairon is the culprit?" She asked.

"Obviously, because we think he did it for you." Scarlet sneered. "That, and the fact that you claim to be his partner and must know the truth."

"You think I sent him? Are you crazy?" She chuckled and it was getting harder to put up with the act. She had ignored the part about her being his partner but that didn't do anything to ease Marina's glare on her. The goddess would have stabbed her to death if she had a sword.

"You need to know that if you cover up for him and the truth is discovered…"

King Rian glared at Scarlet and she shut up, then he looked at Jasmine. "The culprit erased his crime from The Clock."

She looked back at him while trying her best to remain nonchalant. "Then you should be interrogating deities of time."

"No. It should be secret deities of time. There has to be a shady reason for a demigod to hide his element from everyone and I suspect that Dairon did it so he could secretly manipulate time." Scarlet's gaze locked with Dairon's and she smirked. 'You are going down, demigod' was written all over her eyes.

"He has one element and that's water." Nila defended him and she was shocked.

"That's true. If he was anything special, I would know long before Alaya revealed that she was pregnant. There has never been a demideity of time in history and deities of time are not to be messed with. It's not a joking matter." Dylan seconded.

Jasmine's jaw would have dropped if she was not trying to play cool. What was going on? Why were Dairon's enemies defending him? She looked at him and her gaze landed on his fingers. Her eyes widened when she saw what he was doing.

He was doodling a circle on the table and when he felt her gaze, he looked up and winked at her. She swallowed down the words she was about to say and continued staring at the circle he was drawing. When the tip of his finger was facing Marina's direction, he paused. She stood and dropped to her knees before King Rian.

"I'm sorry! I lied about Dairon threatening Pearl. We sent her to the human realm to get us something that could kill Jasmine."

Jasmine blinked in shock. He was compelling them! When she looked at him and he smirked, she knew that she was right.

"What are you talking about?" King Rian gasped in shock. Although Scarlet was trying to hide her panic, her hands were trembling.

"I… I love Dairon. What right does she have to steal him from me?" Marina cried. "But if I got hold of her weakness, I could send her back to the human realm and Dairon would only look at me. My grandparents think so too."

Dairon smiled and his finger continued moving, pausing at Scarlet for a teasing second before it proceeded to stop at Harlyn.

Like the others, He spoke up. "I have a confession too. I'm only here because I like Jasmine. I was not planning to frame Dairon. All I had in mind was to take advantage of the chance if he got convicted."

She looked at Harlyn in shock. Did he really think of that, or was he saying what Dairon wanted him to say?

She looked at his circle. He had skipped Bardumond and was headed for King Rian.

She wanted to stop him. No! He would realize it. She held her breath when he stopped. She shut her eyes. He was out of his mind!

"Dairon is innocent. That will be proven when Sinos returns from the human realm." He declared.

Did Dairon just manipulate the whole courtroom?

When his circle was complete, she felt dizzy as she watched his finger leave the table. A knock resounded on the door and everyone looked over. They didn't look like they found anything odd. She was the only dizzy one in the room and everything felt different. Did she miss something? She glanced around at her surroundings and was confused. Why was everyone wearing different clothes? When did they change their sitting positions? Scarlet was now next to King Rian and she was beside Marina, while Dylan and Nila sat beside each other with Dairon opposite them.

"Lord Sinos is here." A guard announced.

"Let him in. It's about time." King Rian ordered and the doors were opened.

Sinos walked in with a smile and bowed slightly at everyone in the room before walking up to King Rian and bowing. "My King, I completed the mission."

"Report your findings." King Rian commanded.

"I found out that the clock was tampered with by a demon. It must be the demon who killed her because she died in Efinchil and at the time of her death, Dairon was in Clarepar Sea." He reported.

King Rian thought about it and nodded. "That sums it up. This case is closed."

Jasmine was still confused when they left the courtroom. What just happened?

"What happened?" She asked Dairon as soon as they were on their own.

"We just skipped past all the unnecessary crap." He led the way, acting like everything was normal.

King Rian's thoughts replayed in her mind. He is not who he claims to be. She was certain of it now. King Rian was thinking about Dairon and she had to agree to that. He had just compelled a courtroom of deities, including King Rian, and none of them realized what was going on. Not only that, but he had also made time skip. By how long? She wasn't certain.

She rubbed her temples as she asked, "How long has it been since I met Phoenix?"

"Three days." He answered nonchalantly and she had to cover her mouth to hold back a gasp of shock. They had skipped three days? Three whole days?!

"Are you coming with me?" He asked with a hint of amusement, seeing that she was not following him.

"Of course." She rushed to catch up and he teleported them back to his island.

He asked Rosetta to send coffee to the library and went about with his usual routine as if nothing had changed.

She stopped him at the staircase. "What's going on?"

"What are you talking about?" He tilted his head to glance at her from over his shoulder.

"You made time skip! How can you do that when time is not your element?" She lowered her voice into a hush as she expressed her shock. "You compelled everyone. No one realized that time had skipped, did they?"

"No." He turned completely to face her. "I put the memory of the last three days in their heads in a way that they believe they lived them. No one will ever doubt it."

She had more questions than she did before he answered her. How was he able to do that? What else could he do? Did he do that kind of thing often? Why was he able to manipulate the most powerful deities?

"Do you have any other questions?" He asked.

She looked up. He was already taller than her to begin with, but now that he was a step above her, she felt intimidated. She played with her fingers as she chose her words. "Who are you?"

"How troublesome." His brows dipped. She heard him mumble something about curiosity killing the cat and the next thing she knew, she was in the hallway.

What was she planning to do? Her head hurt and she felt like she was forgetting something. She raised her hand and massaged her temples. That's right! She was going to the kitchen to get a snack, then she would return to her room to take a nap and later finish up with Sinos's clothes. She needed to be done before he filled her ears with his whining.
