Song of the sea (Lullaby) —Nolwenn Leroy.

Dairon glanced at Jasmine for a while and kissed her hands. "I already have you, flower."

She stood from her seat and sat on his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"Jasmine?" He was taken aback and reflexively held her back to support her.

"I don't know what I'm doing either. All I know is that I want to do it." She whispered before her lips crashed down on his. She kissed him passionately as she held him, pressing her body against his.

She pulled away gasping for breath and couldn't look him in the eyes. This time, she tried not to bolt away.

"I need some rest so I'll get going." She made an excuse to leave.

"Alright." He smiled. He was too happy about her kiss to care that she was going away to avoid him.

She couldn't fall asleep no matter how she tried. She was sleepy but all she could think about was the kiss she had just shared with Dairon. What would he think? It was certain that by kissing him, she had made him believe that no grudge existed between them anymore. Not that she liked how distant they had been in the last few days, it had suffocated her just as much as it irked him.

She thought back to his words as she rolled onto her back. I already have you, flower. Instinct told her that he didn't mean what she thought he meant. But if he didn't mean that, what else could he have meant? She felt drowsy and it saved her from driving herself crazy with thoughts that wouldn't be helpful in any way. Before she drifted into sleep, she thought she felt a pair of lips on her forehead and someone tucking her in. She hummed in contentment and hugged the pillow that had been placed against her chest.

The following morning.

"How could I sleep throughout the night?" She tapped her head that was spinning from having slept too much.

As if on cue, a knock resounded on the door and she guessed that Rosetta was bringing her breakfast. She slipped out of bed and rubbed her hazy eyes as she pulled the door open. "You don't need to bring…" She stopped speaking when she realized that it was not Rosetta but Dairon instead.

"Good morning, sleepyhead. I thought you would need a kiss to wake up." He teased.

She raised an eyebrow. "What kiss?" When she understood that he was talking about a fairytale, she shook her head with a smile. "Unfortunately, that kind of chance is given to princes, not demigods."

He chuckled as she retreated into the room. "I'll freshen up and join you for breakfast."

He was relieved when she was finally willing to have an actual meal with him. He had thought that the cold war would last longer, which had made him worry all night.

Sure enough, she went downstairs soon after. He couldn't keep his eyes off her as soon as he saw her. She looked beautiful in the fitting jumpsuit she was wearing. It must be a new one she had made recently. She had chosen a red material and had embedded gems along the V-neckline. She had tied her hair in a high ponytail that fell to her back in waves.

"You look beautiful." He pulled out a chair for her and took in her scent when she sat down.

"Thank you." She smiled and noticed the desserts on the table. It would be a wonderful day if she got to have desserts for breakfast. She reached for the waffles and was about to ask him to pass them over when a force of air pulled them to her. She would think he had pushed them if she didn't feel it from her hands when it happened.

She looked at him in surprise. "Why didn't you take back your demigod powers after the completion of the mission?"

He raised an eyebrow. "What demigod powers are you talking about?" He didn't understand why she had brought it up.

"Air." She frowned when she tried to make her teacup levitate and it did for a while before slowly landing before her.

He looked just as surprised as she was. "My demigod elements are water, time, light, and war. Air is not one of them."

She widened her eyes then looked at her hands. "Wait. Those are four. Catalyah called you the bearer of the five-element scepter."

He nodded. "Yes, but that doesn't mean I had five actual elements. She liked to joke that my love for her had to be included among my elements."

She was so confused that she didn't realize that what he had said proved just how deep they had loved each other. Not that it would have mattered.

"You didn't give me your demon powers, did you?" She asked when she remembered that once in a while it seemed like he could control the air.

"I can't do that unless I turn you into a demoness first." He took a bite of a blueberry cookie. "That's your own power."

"What?" She almost shrieked. "Just how many elements do I have then? I'm still not used to the fact that I have fire and earth and now there's a third?"

"It's alright. You can ignore it if you don't think you need it." He reassured her before immediately contradicting himself. "Although the choice is yours, sometimes your power will grow no matter how much you want to lock it away. You may as well embrace it and let it be of help to you."

She pursed her lips and held one side of her head when it suddenly hurt.

A voice filled her mind. "I'll name you Gessamine. I believe you were born for a reason and it has nothing to do with the human realm. Maybe it has a lot to do with the realm of immortals. So, you will be Gessamine the third."

She blinked. "What was that?"

"What was what?" He had noticed her discomfort and dashed to her side. She repeated the words she had just heard. "It sounded like Lord Blaze."

"He must have said it when he brought you back from the human realm." He speculated the only thing that made sense.

She nodded and pushed his hands away gently. "Does that mean I can't ignore my elements? Don't get me wrong. I don't hate them. Who would hate the idea of being more powerful? When I was younger, I would often joke about how much easier life would be if I had power to make things done without moving an inch. I was just lazy because I wanted to save as much time as possible to continue reading books. But I actually love the idea of being a powerful demigoddess with multiple elements. Maybe I can use them to protect the people I care about." She sighed. "I'm just...scared. What if the so-called reason isn't something I can handle?"

He rubbed her back soothingly. "It can't happen that way. Fate would never give you something you can't handle. The same way mates are only put together because their fate is intertwined, the reason for your birth couldn't possibly be too much for you. But if you ever feel overwhelmed, I'll be there for you. I'll be there the whole way walking beside you and when we get to the destination chosen by fate, I'll stay there with you."

She looked up at him and pulled him down by his neck, then kissed his lips. "Thank you."

All he had done was say a few words and she felt stronger.

He held her head and kissed her for a little longer before placing his forehead against hers. "I love you, Jasmine."

"I love you too." She whispered.

….

Teleportation wasn't easy this morning. It was as though she was lighter out of the blue and the force of air made her trip as soon as she materialized into the academy. At least she had actually made it.

Of course, it would have been much better if she didn't appear beside Marina who was walking down the hallway with Scarlet.

She sighed. What was up with these goddesses? Wasn't there a separate academy for gods and goddesses? She was about to go her way when she realized that she was not at the academy for demi-deities.

"She's lost." Marina rolled her eyes.

Scarlet looked at her and ignored her before resuming explaining whatever she was chattering on to Marina. They were probably plotting something.

Marina stood in front of her before she could teleport away, which interrupted her.

She glared at her. "What do you want?"

Marina looked her up and down. "How does it feel knowing that you are nothing but a shadow? You will continue to be her substitute forever."
