It was not her first time cooking with someone but this time was the most awkward. She couldn't bring herself to be comfortable around Lolanthe no matter how hard she tried.

It had been too difficult to say no to Blaze's request especially because he did not give her the chance to. Besides, Bardumond expressed his desire to have a taste of the tea made by both of them. That was how she ended up in the kitchen with Lolanthe.

She tried to keep as much distance as she could from Lolanthe, who of course realized it and looked disheartened. Jasmine had tried not to be too obvious about sticking to the furthest end of the kitchen but it couldn't be helped.

"Will you believe me if I said that I love you?" Lolanthe broke the ice.

I had popped out of nowhere so a Jasmine looked at her in surprise. It didn't take long to process her words but when she did, she shook her head..

"You don't."

"Believe me, I really mean it. I would still love you if you didn't look like you do." She insisted.

Jasmine checked if the water had boiled. "If you love someone, there is never a need to insist on it or prove it. True love speaks up for itself. You will never hear me questioning anyone who I know loves me from deep in their heart."

She quickly changed the topic that made both of them uncomfortable. "Tea is not hard to make. You only have to boil water and pour it in a cup, then add in the tea leaves. You can add in whatever flavour you want, like ginger or rose. You can also add in milk if you want to. Cover your cup and leave it closed for five minutes." She spoke as she added the ingredients she had chosen, then she did the same for the other cups. The tea was ready within ten minutes and she picked up the tray ready to leave the kitchen.

Lolanthe could only watch her leave but soon after, she followed her with a tray of pastries. "Is there really nothing I can do to reconcile with you?"

Jasmine paused, feeling goosebumps rise on her skin. She turned around sharply, suddenly feeling aware that she was facing King Rian's daughter. Was she different from her father? To what extent could she go to get what she wanted?

She decided to test her slightly. "Would you dirty your hands for me? If there was someone I didn't like and you had the ability to kill them, would you?"

"That depends on what they did." She answered, catching up to her. "If you simply don't like them because of your own selfish reasons, then I'm sorry but I'm not killing an innocent person."

"I'm sure you would slay an entire city if Catalyah said that she hated it." She pushed.

"That's not true." Lolanthe said in her defense. "I have never intended to teach my children that it is alright to hurt whoever they want for whatever reasons. I expect them to know that there is such a thing as doing the right thing, and the wrong thing can only be excused if the circumstances called for it."

Her thought process was oddly interesting. She was the kind that believed that it was alright to kill someone if their absence would save many lives. No wonder Catalyah had the same train of thought, and it was perfect for them.

She smiled gently. She had just found a backup plan.

She was not intending to use Lolanthe maliciously, don't get her wrong. But if the situation really called for it, they may have to get her help.

Lolanthe took her smile for friendliness so she smiled back, hoping they could still be on friendly terms. She had learnt from her mistakes and although Jasmine may never be able to believe it, she did think of her as her daughter.

She had learnt to accept that Catalyah was not coming back and neither was Narilia, so all she could do was embrace Jasmine and Bardumond while she still had them.

"Have you ever thought of moving in with us?" She asked as they approached the living area where Bardumond and Blaze were waiting.

Jasmine turned and frowned at her. "I'm a married demigoddess. How can I leave my husband's house?" She was glad to have found the perfect excuse.

"Then you can come for a sleepover?" She made another suggestion, using the information she had gotten from Catalyah long ago. Humans loved sleepovers, especially women. Jasmine must love them too because she had grown accustomed to them.

Jasmine, who was reading her mind, paused. "I have never considered them in the realm of immortals. How about I give you an answer when I think about it?"

Lolanthe was overjoyed. An open response was very likely to turn into a yes.

They served the tea and sat around the table drinking it.

Jasmine had not been interested by the idea when it was brought up by Blaze but now as she sat with them, she had a brilliant idea.

"Father," She started.

Blaze looked at her, feeling extremely proud of himself. She was finally calling her father and so freely at that. "What is it, dear?"

She sipped her rose tea. "I just got married recently and can't be really sure how to interact with my in-laws." She revealed the challenge she had just come up with. "Could you tell me how you interact with King Rian?"

"I don't think that's going to be of help. Dairon's family is different and he isn't even close to them. You can just be yourself." That was what Blaze said, but Jasmine heard none of it.

She was busy reading his mind.

It turned out, Blaze wasn't fond of King Rian either. He blamed him for sabotaging Catalyah's plan of reconciling the deities with demons. According to him, Ulke would never have taken an interest in Catalyah if King Rian didn't use his minion Scarlet to pass her off as the strongest deity. He was fuming in rage even while speaking and if the bastard was not Lolanthe's father and if Lolanthe didn't love him so much, he would have long killed him.

That was shocking. She had thought that Blaze was the most loyal god to King Rian. How pleasantly surprising that he would want to kill him. What was even more interesting was the fact that the only thing holding him back was nonexistent. Lolathe hated her father. If Blaze knew this, would that be the ammunition needed for him to kill King Rian?

She continued to read his mind and tried to find out whether the hatred between them had started after Catalyah's death, or if it had been present long before that. Unfortunately, she didn't get any response to that so she gave up. At least she had found out two important things. Blaze's hatred for King Rian and Lolanthe's willingness to be part of their team if they approached her the right way.

When they finished having their tea, she stood to leave. Blaze followed her to see her off.

They had just walked a few steps when she turned. "You can tell me anything, father."

"Am I that obvious?" He cleared his throat. Her smile let him know that she had guessed that he had something in mind. He couldn't hide it from her so he came out with it. Not that he was planning to hide it, he just wanted to wait for the right opportunity.

"Well?" She probed.

"When do you plan to have your banquet?" He asked, referring to her wedding.

"We have not decided on the right date yet." She told him the truth.

Blaze nodded, having expected that to be her response. "Do you think you could hold it in the realm of immortals instead of the human realm?" He asked. He knew that she was about to reject the idea so he pleaded.

"It will be more fun here. Besides, your family will not be able to attend it if it's in the human realm.

"That's what I was worried about." She stated. "I were to hold it in the realm of immortals, I can forget about my human family attending it. I would love them to be there on my most important day. They have always been on my side in good times and in bad. How can I deny them the opportunity to attend my wedding? On the other hand, immortals can access the human realm when they need to."

" That's true, but do you think we have the permission to go to the human realm as we please?" He countered.

She wanted to say that she could host a party in the immortal realm as well but when she thought about it, it was better not to. She needed a trigger and this was probably it.

"It's all up to King Rian, father. He is also the reason why we cannot have our wedding her. He hates my mate and has been trying to kill him so we have no choice.." She sounded as though she was merely stating a fact but her tone pierced into Blaze's heart like a knife.
