Jasmine was staring at Dairon so as soon as he woke up, her gaze collided with his deep blue eyes. It had been only a few days since she last saw those blue eyes but she had an inexplicable feeling. Why did it feel as though it had been ages?
"Did you miss me?" Of course, his first question had to be annoying.
She violently pulled her hand away from his. "If you are asking whether I wasted my time and thoughts over a worthless demigod then no. I'm not that idle."
"Really? But you still made me a robe." He smiled at her retort. "It's beautiful. Why didn't you bring it back with you? Are you afraid that I will reject it?"
She didn't hear anything he said after mentioning the robe. Realization seemed to dawn on her, as she recalled Sinos' claim. "Is that why I'm here?"
"Yes. Because you thought about me." He confirmed her suspicion. So she came back because he crossed her mind. But that didn't mean she missed him and this island, okay!
"Can I go back?" She demanded.
"Not if I don't let you."
They were back to the starting point. Just great. It seemed like falling into a coma did nothing to teach him a lesson.
Although she was so angry that she wanted to hurl curses and kick up a fuss, she could only remain calm and try to reason with him. "I don't have any business here and your friends don't like me either."
He was silent for so long that she almost thought he was starting to be moved. Just when she was about to add that she really needed to be with her family, he opened his mouth. "It doesn't matter what they feel about you. As long as I like you, flower."
She turned her head and ignored him. Why would she stupidly expect anything good from him?
"Aren't you going to offer me food? I've been asleep for so long, I'm hungry…" He demanded like he had every right.
She shot him a glare of contempt. "What's your hunger got to do with me?"
He seemed to think of a reason for a while and when he found one, the words rolled off his tongue all so naturally. "I'm in this state because of you. It's only right that you take care of me."
"What do you mean you're in this state because of me?" She knew that he was making up an excuse, but she felt some hint of truth in his words. Could it be true that he had really fallen into a coma out of anger for her departure? Could he not be so weak?
With the deep frown on her face, Dairon didn't dare to pry into her thoughts. He adjusted himself slightly to get a better view of her. "Someone summoned a demon to help her escape. I wonder if you know about it?"
Her heart skipped a beat as she realized what he meant. The door… "I don't know what you're talking about." She denied his claim in all innocence.
"Then I guess my falling unconscious was for nothing." He directed his deep gaze at her, as though trying to read into her soul.
"Unconscious… it was related to the door?" She guiltily asked.
"In every way. You are the one who opened it but because of some slip up,I was the one to suffer the consequences."
It was only when she heard his response that she realized what trap she had fallen into. Although she hated him, she didn't intend to hurt him which is why she had tried to evade the topic. But now she could no longer feign ignorance.
" I'm sorry. I didn't know who Narilia wasNarilia was. I only read the incarnation and didn't even know that it would open a portal." She apologized, honestly explaining what happened. "Everything is so foreign here… I was curious and didn't know it would cause such an effect. I'm really sorry."
"I don't think you are sorry." He assessed her apologetic expression and determined that it was fake.
She was annoyed. "Because I ended up in the human world, with my family and we spent quality time together. Why would I be sorry?"
"All the more reason to take care of me." He grinned.
She realized that she had just fallen into another of his traps. Her chest heaved in fury. "Fine."
If taking care of him would make him shut his annoying mouth, she could only do it for now. She only hoped that no one in the human world found out about it. Otherwise, the news of her taking care of a male would be scandalous. It wouldn't matter that he was a demigod; no one would want to marry her.
She brought him a plate of fruits, which he munched on as he asked, "I've been meaning to ask, at your age why are you not betrothed?"
She shot him a glare. "You promised to stay away from my thoughts."
"Oh wow, were you thinking about the same thing?" He pretended that it was a coincidence.
How annoying.
"With your temper, I don't need to ask anymore. No man wants an explosive woman." He continued to taunt her, enjoying her sharp glare. "You have never even had a male shadow by your side… DidDid you offend the goddess of love in your past life?"
She didn't answer him. She knew that he had read her mind again. A moment ago, she had been thinking about how women her age were all married and some of them had already enrolled their children in school. In the past, Vivian would tease her about her offending the goddess of love in her past life, which caused her lack of interest in men. Although countless men had their eyes on her and had sought Harry and Sophie out many times, her parents were not in a rush to get her married.
They allowed her to work and live with them for as long as she wanted, and she felt lucky. She knew that it was majorly because Sophie and Harry only had two beloved daughters and no son. They would never have daughters-in-law, which was probably why they were not in a hurry to push her into marriage.
Dairon sent his friends away and continued to make her suffer in the name of tending to him. He was like a spoiled child and by the time he dragged his lazy body out of bed, it was late in the evening.
"Would you like to have your dinner?" She asked, looking over at him from the living room.
"Do you care about me so much?" He teased as he walked over.
She stood up in annoyance. "I only wanted to know whether I should poison the food. Looks like it will be a waste of my poison since you don't want to eat."
He smiled at her direct words. "I'm not sure whether I want to die yet. I'll let you know when I'm ready, okay?"

Harry glanced at the clock for the umpteenth time and frowned. He turned to Sophie who had just finished tidying the living room with the help of the maids. "Wife, could you heat up some food? I'm going to check if Jasmine is okay. She has slept in all day."
Sophie paused and straightened up when she heard his instructions. She walked over to him with her head slightly lowered in grief. "She isn't there."
"What?" Harry was taken aback. He had been downstairs all day and Jasmine definitely did not leave the house.
"The demigod took her away." Sophie bit her lip. Or maybe she went back willingly. She added inwardly.
"How do you know?" Harry asked when he finally calmed down.
"I checked her room this morning." Sophie answered briefly and went about with her business.
"You seem too calm about this." Harry observed.
Hearing his words, Sophie dropped the rag in her hand in defeat. "What can I do, husband? They are deities and we are humans. No matter how hard we cry over her departure, they will only let her return when they want to."
His heart trembled at her words. He had made a promise, but he had failed…
He took her hands and kissed them, his heart clenching when her eyes watered. "I'm sorry. As a father, I wasn't able to protect my daughter. If she didn't go on that cruise trip, she would never have drowned and she would never have come into contact with the gods."
She thought about the implication of his words and took a deep breath. "She would meet them in any case."
