"What are you saying?" Jasmine felt as though she had been struck by Sinos' words.

"The most plausible speculation." He shrugged. "Nothing fits the puzzle more than this—at least not yet."

She sank into thought and shook her head in denial. "I've seen part of my past from the memory stone before. She cradled me when I was a newborn."

"That doesn't prove that she gave birth to you." Sinos heartlessly shattered her hope.

No matter how she wanted to deny it, he was right. Dairon had lived with his human parents right from the day of his birth—but they were not his parents.

She hoped he was wrong, and her hand squeezed Dairon's. "What should I do?"

"I suggest we go to the mountain village where you were born. There has to be someone who witnessed your birth." His head hurt when he imagined her reaction later. "Forget it. I will accompany you."

"I will go with her." Dairon announced, as though warning Sinos to not have any unwanted thoughts.

"I'm not interested in humans. I'm only going along because you will need me." He bragged, indirectly reminding them just what his element was.

"No. I want to go to Efinchil." Jasmine spoke up out of the blue.

"Jas…" Dairon looked down at her.

"If there is anything that needs to be explained, I would like my mother to explain it." She said determinedly.

"Humans and their unbreakable ties. Fine, let's go." Sinos rolled his eyes, while Dairon agreed because he was ready to go wherever she wanted.

"We should go now before your memory completely fades. Sinos, if you want to carry anything, get it ready right away." Dairon instructed before turning to her. "Are you ready?"

"Yes. But the two of you aren't. Your clothes stand out too much." She glanced at their robes, certain that they would attract unnecessary attention. "I will make you something different."

Sinos went to prepare medical supplies in case they needed them while Jasmine quickly made shirts in Maximus' chamber.

"You are nervous." Dairon held her shoulders from behind when she was almost done with the pants.

Her blood chilled. Of course, she was nervous! She thought of something and turned to face him.

"When you found out that your mother was not really your mother, how did you feel?"

"Let me think." He scratched his chin for a few seconds. "I know I should tell you that it was awful but to be honest, I felt relieved."

She sighed at his answer. What else would she have expected? His human family had always seen him as an eyesore and treated him like one. If she were in his shoes, she would probably feel relieved too...but it was different for her and her brain was about to explode from the thought of it.

"If she isn't my mother then how did she find me?" She muttered aloud.

"She found an abandoned baby or just like in my case, your natural mother gave you to them. Or…" He paused his speculations.

"Or what?" She probed.

"The other possibility is unpleasant." He coughed, not wanting to talk about such a thing at a time like this.

However, she continued staring at him probingly and he could only answer her. "It's also possible that she had you with a demigod."

Her eyes flew open when she realized what that meant. "My mother would never betray her marriage!" She exploded, before instantly calming down. "Sorry, I just…"

He pulled her onto his chest. "I understand."

"Will things ever go back to normal if I ask her?" She rhetorically asked the question that bothered her the most.

"Probably not." He once again stated honesty, earning a punch on his chest.

"You're the worst at comforting people."

He smiled. "I don't want to give you false hope. It will only break your heart later. But I want you to know that I will always be here for you no matter how things turn out."

She buried her head in his chest, and when she realized what she was doing, she pulled away to finish up with the clothes.

Sinos arrived just when she was done, and they got changed.

"Human males wear this? I look handsome!" Sinos gushed as he exited the dressing room in a pair of pants and a shirt.

It was simple but he liked it, and she had to admit that he looked ravishing in it. Dairon looked even more attractive with the dark colors that made his eyes stand out. If only there was a way to walk with his face hidden away.

"Jasmine, can I trouble you to make such clothes for me in future? I will wear this kind of clothes from now on." Sinos happily twirled and he looked himself over.

"Of course." Jasmine smiled. As long as he paid for it.

"No." Dairon protested, glaring at his friend. "You can't tire my flower's hands out. She can only make clothes for me."

Sinos huffed. "Whatever, I look better in robes anyway."

Jasmine chuckled at their bicker. "Don't worry, you can get them in the human realm."

"Really? That's great! Then let's hurry up." He excitedly ran out.

The portal was at the beach.

"I will open it now." Sinos announced.

"Wait. When we get to Efinchil, the two of you will follow my lead. Only appear when I ask you to." He instructed them yet again, making her facepalm. Did he think they were idiots?

"Why did we appear at the marketplace?" Jasmine looked around when they were in Efinchil.

"Your mother is here.

I will follow her. Go home and wait for my signal."

Jasmine wanted to rush to Spphie's side and hug her, but she could only follow Sinos' instructions for now.

Observing Sophie, Sinos made sure she was done buying whatever she wanted before he compelled her to bump into him.

"I'm sorry!" Sophie apologized before picking up the bag of vegetables that she had dropped.

"Lady, my back hurts. Could you help me pick my pendant up?" Sinos pointed at the emerald pendant at his feet.

Sophie reached to pick it, but when she took a clearer look, it was as though her senses had been numbed.

"You…" She looked at him in disbelief, then bolted away.

He caught up in a few steps and grabbed her wrist. "Lady, why are you running?"

"Let go of me!" She kicked his stomach and dashed away.

He shrugged and followed Dairon's scent to Jasmine's home, trying not to imagine Sophie's reaction later.

"How did it go?" Asked Dairon, who was the most anxious.

"She recognized me." Sinos grinned when he thought back to her reaction when she saw the pendant. "That in itself is suspicious. Well, she must be on her way here in a rush."

Just as he predicted, Sophie bolted in, panting. "Jasmine!" She was pleasantly surprised to see her daughter but when she saw the man next to her, she almost collapsed.

"You! What are you doing here?" She pointed at Sinos in shock. She grabbed her cell phone in the next second.

"Are you going to call the police and claim that there is an intruder in your home? Don't be naive, human." Sinos laughed intimidatingly.

"Don't scare her." Jasmine glared at him, which Dairon agreed to.

This was his future mother-in-law so he wanted to maintain peace if they could.

"Milady, I'm Jasmine's partner, Dairon. This is my friend, Sinos." He introduced them.

"What do you want?!" Sophie was still in shock.

"We are here to ask you a question. We will leave immediately after knowing the answer." Dairon promised.

She was visibly relieved. "Ask."

"Is Jasmine your daughter?" He went straight to the point.

"Dairon…" Jasmine whispered and tugged his sleeve.

Dairon did not intend to be too lenient. He ignored Jasmine's hand. "Is she your daughter or not?"

Sophie was still in shock from seeing a god in the human realm and in her home, and before she could recover, she got this kind of question?

"This is our family matter." She protested.

"I'm Jasmine's partner." Dairon countered, making Jasmine facepalm. When did they become partners?

Under the pestering pressure of Dairon and Sinos, Sophie knew that she could never escape the question. She caressed Jasmine's cheek with a heartbroken smile." Darling, I don't know what's going here and why these damned deities are asking me this, but all you have to know is that you are my daughter. I carried you in my womb and gave birth to you."

"We came for nothing, then." Sinos complained yet again.

Jasmine glared at him and hugged Sophie. "I believe you."

"Thanks, honey. It would be awful if my daughter were to suspect me too." She confessed the reason for her panic earlier.

Although Jasmine believed her, Dairon and Sinos exchanged looks. There has to be more to this.

"We gods of wisdom have a way to test whether individuals are biologically related.." Sinos raised an eyebrow seriously.
