In the blurry image, Blaze seemed shocked by the little demigoddess's words. He walked to her and held her small shoulders while looking into her eyes with obvious surprise. "Why would you think that I hate you?"

"Because you clearly do!" She shrugged away from him and took several steps back, her eyes blazing with anger.

"Don't be willful. Come here." Blaze called her gently. When she ignored him, he held a hand out. "Gessamine."

Seeing as she was not going to budge, his eyes darkened in anger. "I know just what to do with a disobedient little demigoddess like you."

He turned to walk away and to the demigoddess's horror, he smirked. "It must be the fault of those humans, especially her."

It was obvious who he was referring to, and she paled in fright.

"If you do anything to hurt my parents, I will tear down this entire realm with fire." Her hands balled into fists and when Blaze turned to look at her in shock, she returned a vicious glare while creating fireballs in her hands. "Try me."

Jasmine felt a chill go through her head and she shut her eyes for a second.

"Are you okay?" He instantly asked, noticing her change in expression.

"It's okay. I just remembered something from when I was a demigoddess." She explained the incident that had just formed in her mind.

"I didn't seem to get along with Blaze. I wonder what he did in response."

As if on cue, the incident continued to play on her mind.

Blaze was enraged by her threat. "Did you just say fire? I will show you the true meaning of fire." He set her on fire in the next second. Since she was a demigoddess and fire was her element, it couldn't burn her. Instead, her body absorbed it but because Blaze was one of the highest ranking gods, it was multiple times more painful than being burned.

"Stop!" She cried in distress. "Lord Blaze, please stop… father!"

At the last word, Blaze snapped out of it and drained the fire back. She dropped onto her knees weakly, trembling in pain. His eyes were filled with pain and he held a hand out ready to comfort her, but he retracted it to glare at her codly instead.

"Will you still throw tantrums in future?"

She shook her head.

"Good. Pick up your scepter. Learn to use it before the next training session." He flew away.

"I suddenly don't want to come back here as a trainee." Jasmine patted her chest. She felt the numbing pain when she remembered it. She didn't dare to imagine how it felt when it happened.

He had been reading her mind when she remembered this part, so he knew what she was talking about. He could only hold her hand and offer comfort.

"Unfortunately, you have to. There are rules you must be taught and responsibilities you must take."

She sighed in defeat and looked up at him. "Was it awful for you too?" She asked after noting his pained tone.

He was worried for her and it had nothing to do with his own experience but he answered her.

"Aside from the fact that I was looked down on for being different? No."

"How are you different? Because your element is water, or because you were originally a human?" She probed.

"It has nothing to do with my origin. At least not in that kind of way." He led the way to continue walking down the corridor. She remained silent, which probed him to explain.

"My mother had me with a human. She was a goddess so I didn't have to be born during any Lunar Symetoch. My birth year is odd. Not to mention, my mother was cursed for being involved with a human."

"That's an awful reason." She frowned.

He paused and took both of her hands, looking at her seriously. "Jasmine, I don't want you to be scared but I may need to warn you. Some gods constantly turn evil—even the good ones."

"What do you mean?" She blinked in confusion.

"It's not like humans who are usually either good or evil. Deities find it rightful to do some things which humans would consider evil. As long as they think their reason is justified, it is alright." He let the words sink in. "Just like Blaze. He must have adopted you when he took you from the human realm. That's why he calls you 'child' and you call him 'father'. It was his own choice to be your guardian. As a father, he should never hurt you the way he did—but he will never be punished for it because you had been willful." He gave an example that made her feel disturbed.

Her lips moved in a mumble. "I already have a biological father and he would never do that to me. I don't need a self-righteous god as an adoptive father." There was a tremor in her voice. She didn't have all her memories intact but from the little she knew, she didn't like Blaze. Somewhere deep in her heart she felt she had been tormented by him more than once in the past.

He pulled her into a hug and kissed the top of her head.

"I will always be there to protect you as much as possible but when I'm not on your side, you have to protect yourself."

"Can't I just…" She sighed.

"Just what?" He peeked down at her.

Her shoulders slumped. "I don't know… give up my power. I don't have much of it anyways. I can just stay in the human realm forever."

"We don't decide that ourselves. Fate does." He dropped the bummer.

"Ah, there's a new demi deity." An excited sigh filled the hallway, and she turned to see two beautiful women walking towards them.

"Trainers. They're goddesses." Dairon didn't look happy to see them.

One of them, who was a step ahead of the other, was wearing a revealing two-piece ankle-length dress and had beautiful jewelry on her. She had emerald eyes and was strikingly beautiful. Jasmine had to admit that Goddess Alaya paled in comparison. She must be a goddess of beauty, she thought.

"Hello." She greeted curtly when she felt the goddess' sharp gaze on her.

"She looks like a waste of space." The goddess sneered. "Scarlet, let's go."

The duo brushed past them, but Jasmine's gaze remained glued on the goddess named Scarlet. "That goddess…"

"Of course she would be a waste of time. She is associating with the cursed daemon." Scarlet sneered along.

"Ignore them." Dairon hoped she was not offended. If he picked a fight now, Jasmine would be implicated.

Her attention was still on Scarlet. "I must have met her before."

She tried to rack her brains. Just when she was about to give up, the memory dawned on her.

"It was her! She helped me escape back to the human realm. She said that lord Blaze hated me and wanted to kill my family."

"You are back, Lord Blaze." A servant welcomed Blaze when he returned to his castle.

"Where's Bardumond?" He asked.

"In his chamber." Answered the servant, and Blaze went to Bardumond's chamber.

The latter was crushing leaves that he would use to make medicinal juice when he felt Blaze's presence. He stood and turned to greet him with a slight bow. "Father."

Blaze continued standing at the door, his face clouded in displeasure. "Is there anything you would like to tell me?"

There was no need to ask. Jasmine's presence had been discovered. "It was Dairon's secret to tell." Besides, what water demigods did had nothing to do with a god of fire, but Bardumond knew that saying this would vex Blaze so he remained silent.

Blaze was still furious. "I can forgive you for keeping contact with that cursed fish despite knowing the rules. Now you helped him hide a demigoddess too?"

It was Bardumond's turn to be enraged. "He has a name, father. His name is Dairon. And just in case you don't know, he is a demigod."

"A cursed one." Blaze added sarcastically. "One who should have been killed eons ago."

"That doesn't mean…" He stopped the lecture that going to give when Blaze's words sunk in. "Wait. A demigoddess?"

Blaze was surprised. He didn't know?

"The one at his island. Beautiful eyes, hair that keeps switching between black and golden." He explained.

Bardumond thought it made no sense. He had long known that Jasmine was not a human but how did Blaze know? Who had told him? Sinos couldn't possibly rattle about such matters.

"Who told you about her?" He asked.

"It doesn't matter." Blaze dismissed the unimportant details. All that mattered was that she was Gessamine and she was back. "She is a demigoddess of fire and I will leave her under your care. When the time comes, I will accept her back."

Bardumond didn't like where this was heading.

As expected, came the dreaded order. "Take her back from the island.. No adopted child of mine can stay close to a cursed fish."
