"Why should I do that?" Bardumond had no intention of starting a conflict with Dairon for any reason and he knew what Blaze was trying to instigate. "And what do you mean by adopted child? Are you going to adopt Jasmine?"

"I already adopted her years ago. I am only taking my daughter back." Blaze sounded indifferent.

Bardumond was slightly taken aback. The only time he had heard of Blaze adopting a demigoddess was thirty five years ago, a few months after the Lunar Symetoch. If he didn't get the information wrong, that demigoddess's name was Gessamine. He was now talking about taking Jasmine back, could it be the same person? But Jasmine was twenty five years old.

"Did you get the wrong person? Jasmine grew up in the human world. Besides, wasn't Gessamine banished for running away?"

"Just do as I say." Blaze frowned at the useless questions.

Bardumond teleported to the end of a hallway in Dairon's mansion. One of the maids shrieked and dropped her tray in horror.

He chuckled and bent over to help her up. "It's just me. Are you alright?" No matter how many times he teleported to this mansion, the maids would never get used to it.

She picked her tray up with trembling hands. "I'm okay, Lord Bardumond."

"Jasmine's not here?" He asked because he couldn't feel her presence within the mansion.

"She left with Master Dairon." The maid scurried away as soon as Bardumond stopped speaking to her.

He smiled and was about to leave when he felt Dairon's presence.

"Look who decided to pay me a visit while I was away." Dairon frowned in disapproval when he materialized in the living room with Jasmine. "And you scared my maids again."

"You reek of the academy." Bardumond commented.

"That's where we were a moment ago. What brings you here?" Dairon asked, still holding Jasmine in case she was dizzy.

"Sinos told me to check on Jasmine." Bardumond replied. "Well, that and the fact that she has been put under my care."

"That's definitely not good news." Dairon had a bad feeling about it. What was that damned god up to?

"It should be." Bardumond smirked. "If she was put under Scarlet, you would be forbidden from seeing her."

He enjoyed seeing Dairon flustered, which made him grin before he looked at Jasmine.

"Little sister, I didn't think you would really become my little sister. I'm thrilled." He smiled.

"What are you even talking about?" It dawned on her as soon as she asked but she was still surprised. "Blaze is your father?"

He nodded. "He is the adoptive father I talked about."

She wasn't pleased about it. "I don't mind being your sister but… never mind. I hope my living arrangements will not be changed." If she was going to be away from her home, she might as well be with someone she had spent some time with, and was a little used to. Although she still didn't like the fact that he had brought her to this realm without her permission, it was a much worse idea to be stuck close to Blaze.

He knew what he was thinking but he couldn't do much to help. "That's for you to negotiate with our father."

"Do I have to?" She sighed in exhaustion.

"Do you have a choice?"

She sat on the couch looking deflated. He was right. She really didn't have much choice. "So what will I be doing in your care?"

"Many things. Learning how to use your powers is one of them." He said, and she frowned slightly.

"Dairon will teach me that."

"There are many things in the clan of fire that he cannot access." Bardumond added.

"Sinos will help me with that." She retorted.

Bardumond feigned heartbreak. "Do you prefer outsiders to your own brother, little sister? I met you before Sinos did but you prefer him." He looked like he was about to burst into tears and complain about his sister being stolen away from him, which made Jasmine speechless.

That night, Jasmine had just fallen asleep when she heard the familiar voice that she didn't want to hear again.

"Child,"

Her eyes flew open to glare at the god. "What do you want this time?" This time, she was not as shocked as the first time because she knew that he was summoning her in her dream.

He smiled down at her. "That's quite a reaction, huh. Aren't you happy to see your father?"

"My father is Harry Cavendish and we both know that." She was close to rolling her eyes. How audacious!

Blaze smiled with interest. "Yet it was my name that slipped your mother's tongue when she lied about your origin. Don't you want to know why?"

She was stunned for a second before she scoffed. "It's obvious. Because you are the only god whose name she had ever heard. But she thought you were a demigod."

"You're quite smart." He didn't expect her to figure it out so fast. It seemed like the first trip to The Clock was not useless after all.

"Can you do whatever you want to do quickly? I want to go back to sleep." She didn't think her sleep would be peaceful with a god she didn't want to speak to buzzing around her like an annoying fly.

"You wanted to know what the priest said. Have you changed your mind?" He enticed.

"I want to go!" She changed her mind as soon as she heard about what she wanted to know most.

"Okay. Wait." He smiled and let her stand. When she faced him while standing, she finally got to see his wings. They were more beautiful than she had imagined, with red feathers at the ends.

He tapped her forehead with his forefinger.

"What are you doing?" She didn't trust him.

"Sealing your power. You might cause damage if you go with it to this section of the past." He explained, and she had no choice but to believe him.

When he was done, he retracted his finger. "Once you come out, summon me and I will return your power." He instructed.

She nodded and he led her to the entrance of The Clock. Surprisingly, she remembered the corridor from which she heard the priest's voice the last time, so she sprinted over.

Sophie and Harry were sitting on their legs on the carpeted floor of the temple, with Jasmine sitting between them and looking around absentmindedly.

"Her existence is sinful. She has to die!" The priest declared while pointing at Jasmine.

"What? Why would you say that about my baby?" Sophie was shocked and so was Harry, but Jasmine continued looking around as though she didn't understand.

"She is nothing like all the other kids in the village." The priest explained.

"That doesn't mean anything. As a priest, are you going to be like the others, looking down on my daughter for merely being different?" Harry pointed out the insolence.

"She appeared out of the blue." The priest argued.

"That…" Sophie didn't know how to explain.

"She sets things on fire with her gaze. She's a witch!" The priest yelled.

Within just a few days, the rumor had spread around the entire village.

Jasmine stood behind a tree as she heard the other kids gossip.

"Is she really a witch?" A chubby girl asked.

"I heard her parents tried to drown her." A boy her age exclaimed.

"I heard she killed her great grandma." Said another.

Harry tapped Jasmine's shoulder from behind and turned the girl to face him, even though her eyes were drooped sadly.

"Don't listen to them, dear. You are not a witch." He said to her.

"Yes papa." She nodded and held his hand, going back home.

At night, he was discussing with Sophie whether or not they should move out of the village to allow Jasmine to have a more peaceful childhood. The door to his and Sophie's room opened, and he darted his eyes over in surprise, to see the little girl walk in. "Jasmine?"

A golden color flashed through her eyes. "Go to sleep, papa. You and mama are very tired today."

As if they were under a compelling spell, they both climbed onto the bed and closed their eyes. "Goodnight, baby."

After compelling her own parents, Jasmine left the room only to bump into Celeste.

"Jasmine, where are you going? Are you hungry?" Celeste asked dotingly. "What do you want to eat? Grandma will get it for you."

"Don't worry. You should go to sleep." She compelled her into going back to her room too, before she teleported.

"AHH!" The priest shrieked and fell off his bed when Jasmine suddenly appeared in his room.

"That should be your reaction when you see me." Jasmine laughed. "How unfortunate, you will not see me again."

Wasn't she just a child?! The priest was scared out of his wits. How could a child her age be so intimidating? Even if she was a demigoddess, she was still a child!

"Stay away!" He threw a lamp at her but she easily turned it into ashes.

"Your existence is a sin." She repeated his own words in a voice that made him almost pass out in fear. "You said that I set things on fire? What a pity… I want to set you on fire."
