Did Jasmine send him a gift? His heart raced in joy. It was just a box, one that didn't look anything like a gift box. It definitely didn't mean what he was thinking—but that didn't stop him from thinking it. Jasmine had just sent him a gift!
Basking in jubilation, he took the folded fabric out of the box and unfolded it. It was the most beautiful robe he had ever laid his hands on—it would still take that position even if it wasn't designed and made by Jasmine.
He recognized the pattern that the tiny diamonds formed at the hem of the robe. It was the same pattern she had been making on the desk a week earlier. Turns out, it was for his robe.
Realization hit him in a way that made him grin. No wonder she didn't want him in the room when she worked. It wasn't because his presence distracted her, it was because it would ruin the surprise!
He smiled and hugged the robe. He should thank her. On his third step, he turned around with a change of his mind.
_
The following day, Jasmine felt as though her limbs had been broken. It must be from the intense training the previous day and her body had only had a belated reaction. Stretching with some pain, she wondered whether she could make it through today's training.
She decided not to chicken out and dressed up after all. She didn't see Dairon downstairs when she went to have breakfast. Did he decide to let her have a day off? She might need it.
"You are here, Milady. Master Dairon left you this." Rosetta gave her a note before retreating a few feet away.
She shook her head at Rosetta's fearful reaction and opened the note.
[See you at the garden near the swimming pool. ~Dairon.]
He was definitely mimicking her and it made her chuckle. This meant he had received her token. After taking a few bites, she followed the path as she remembered it.
"I didn't expect you to come so soon." His voice vibrating from behind her made her jump and pat her chest.
"You scared me." She laughed as she turned, but he circled her so she wouldn't see him.
"I'm sorry. You looked distracted." He smiled down at her from behind her.
"Did I pick the wrong time? I could come back later." Guessing from his statement about not expecting her and the way he was slipping away to avoid her, she started to leave.
"Definitely not!" He stopped her by grabbing her elbow. "Every second of every day is the right time for you."
When she looked down at her elbow in his hand, she noticed the sleeves of the robe he was wearing—the very robe she had given him the previous day.
Her eyes slowly scanned him, her lips lifting in approval. No one could possibly look better than him in this robe.
He felt her scanning him and smiled. "I wanted to prove you right. How do I look?"
"Handsome and attractive." She wasn't stingy with her compliments.
The words warmed his heart but he couldn't help teasing, "Do I look better than Sinos?"
She slapped her forehead at their insanity. Not too long ago, Sinos had bugged the crap out of her and wouldn't let her be until she told him who she thought looked better between him and Dairon. She only got away by weaving around the question. Now Dairon was asking the same question? What were they, toddlers?
"I'm just joking around." He smiled to ease the tense atmosphere.
"Oh, you are funny." She chuckled. "What's in the training schedule today?"
"Nothing much. You should spend more of your time resting today." He announced, much to her relief.
"Since you are on a break, would you like to take a walk with me?" He offered.
If he had looked for her the previous night to thank her for the robe, she would definitely reject him if he asked her out for a walk. It was why he had changed his mind. Since she was already out of the mansion, she wouldn't say no to a walk.
"Just a few minutes. After that, we can go back and you can nap for the rest of the day." He added to convince her.
"I don't have much to do today." She agreed, much to his relief.
As they strolled along the beach, he finally had the guts to ask, "Why did you send me this?" He motioned to the robe he was wearing.
"It's to thank you." She tilted her head to look up at him. "I haven't thanked you for being my trainer yet. I am not your responsibility but you decided to help me out anyway. A robe is the least I can do to thank you."
He was silent for a while after she finished speaking.

Not only did Jasmine send him a gift the previous day—which he was wearing—but she was also thanking him in such a gentle tone? Bardumond should check his brain the next time he dropped by. He must be starting to hallucinate.
The breeze softly blew by, wafting her scent to his nostrils. He couldn't touch her because he was certain that he was not dreaming. He really was walking side by side with Jasmine.
"Is there something on my face?" She felt uneasy under his intense gaze and couldn't help asking.
"Yes." He smiled. "Beauty."
She was speechless. He slowed down and added, "I'm not joking."
So he was complimenting her. She looked anywhere but in his eyes that were trying to capture hers. It was a simple compliment but for some odd reason, she couldn't help thinking of it as a pick up line.
"Do you think water and fire could ever mix?" He asked as he changed the topic.
"I don't think so. Water will definitely put fire out." She stated the obvious.
"That's not necessarily a bad thing." He smiled gently and added. "But I think they can mix, and create the most beautiful outcome. If you would like to try, I can prove myself right later.
Mix and create the most beautiful outcome? What was he saying?
Trying not to overthink it, she nodded in agreement.

Since she had finished Sinos' clothes, she thought it was time to start trying out the recipes from the recipe book she had got at the Enchanted Library. Finding the book, she headed for the kitchen where Rosetta and the other maids were ready to start making dinner.
"Lady Jasmine!" They greeted her and she could feel that their reaction was exaggerated. Was she that scary?
"Milady, are you hungry? It will take a while for dinner to be ready. I can get you some fruits to eat while you wait for it." Rosetta offered.
"Thanks, Rosetta. But that's not why I'm here." She smiled at the scared maids. "I would like to make dinner today."
It was a strange request, but after giving each other the most brief glances, they made way for her and scurried out of the kitchen.
Checking for the perfect and easiest recipe, she rolled her hair up into a bun and draped on an apron before she started cooking.
By the time she was done, it was a few minutes past Dairon's usual dinner time and he was sitting at the table. She was suddenly nervous.
"You…" He didn't seem to understand why she was the one pushing the trolley of food. Or perhaps, he was just too stunned seeing her covered in flour despite having an apron on.
"I made dinner." She smiled and tried to ignore his gaze on her.
"You can cook?" He didn't seem surprised but with the kind of mess she looked like, it was reasonable to doubt whether she could successfully boil an egg.
She followed his gaze down her clothes. "I do know how to cook. It just gets a little messy when I'm nervous—maybe more than a little."
"You were nervous?" He couldn't help being surprised.
"I'm cooking something I have never tasted in my life. Of course I would be nervous."
He laughed. He looked forward to seeing and tasting what she had cooked. She arranged the food on the large dining table but continued to stand at the side instead of joining him to eat.
"Uhm… that." She pointed at an unfamiliar chicken dish that looked like something between grilled and braised. It looked inviting but was still ultimately unfamiliar. "The fire got out of control for a moment when I was grilling it. It looked too awful, I could only transform it into something else.
It was not as easy as she made it sound. His focus was on the delicious spread on the table. "It looks delicious. I bet it tastes even better than it looks."
His eyes were glued on her, making her frown slightly. He was still talking about the chicken, right?
"Give it a taste." She nudged the cutlery in front of him to make him stop talking.
"Yeah. I should have a taste." His tongue peeked out from between his lips and licked the lower one as his eyes remained glued to hers.
She suddenly didn't know where to look.. He was talking about tasting something, but it was definitely not food.
