"What kind of gown should I wear to the banquet tomorrow night?" She asked over lunch.

"Just wear what you would at a human world banquet. It's your banquet, so make sure you are comfortable." He patted her hand over the table. "Maximus can help you out if it's too soon for you to make one yourself."

"No, it's alright. Actually I have a gown."

"You do?" He was surprised.

"I made it for fun. Who would have thought that I would need it?" She smiled.

"That's a relief. If you need anything, don't hesitate to let me know." He urged.

"I have everything I need." She ate the meat in her plate which, for some reason, was not nearly as spicy as she had planned for it to be. She stopped herself from thinking about it and looked at him. "Dairon…"

"Yeah?" He looked up to meet her gaze.

"Can I say a word to my grandmother before the banquet?" She hated to be introduced to what should have been her newborn party without paying a visit to her grandmother. At least she visited her family the day before.

"We can go there tomorrow." He agreed.

"Thank you.

….

The following evening, Jasmine exited the bathroom only to find Rosetta and another maid waiting for her near the vanity.

"Uh… what's this about?" She couldn't help asking.

"We are here to help you get dressed. Gowns are usually harder to wear than ordinary dresses." Rosetta explained.

"It's alright. It doesn't have many layers." She said to dismiss them, but they continued standing around and waiting for her.

She was not used to being helped to dress up, but they looked like they would be punished if they didn't help her, so she chuckled and let them. As long as they didn't think about helping her bathe the next time.

They used pins to hold half of her hair up while most of it was left to flow down her back. For some strange reason, it was a brighter shade of gold today—not that she was complaining. It was more beautiful and perfectly matched her red gown. She seemed to be getting as addicted to the red color as Dairon was to blue.

When she was done, she thanked the maids before meeting Dairon downstairs.

"Are you ready?" He asked.

"Yes." She circled her gloved hand around his arm. He couldn't take his eyes off her. Her gown was simple and modest but the color highlighted her beauty in a way that made him want to stop time just to keep looking at her.

He so badly wanted to kiss her right now. Alas, they had to rush to Monten and be back in time for the banquet, so he put the thought off for now.

"Did I tell you that you are breathtaking? You will definitely stand out in the banquet." He asked when they teleported to the venue of the banquet.

"Innumerable times, yeah. But thank you." She smiled as she looked around. They were in a castle which was several times larger than the academy. It turned out that deities loved lavish lifestyles.

"This is King Rian's castle." He told her as they walked past a pair of guards.

"Who is King Rian?"

"The ruler around here. He is the most powerful deity and the king of gods." He explained, making her awed.

"Whoa he does sound powerful." She suddenly felt intimidated being in his castle.

"He can control all the elements so yeah, he is powerful."

They were still speaking when a gush of blue blazed past her and clung onto Dairon's other arm.

"Dairon!"

She must be a goddess, Jasmine guessed. She was wearing a pale blue gown that she might have as well left at home. It left little to the imagination.

She pressed her exposed, voluptuous breasts against Dairon's arm as she purred. "It's been so long! You haven't attended banquets in recent years."

What a b*tch! Jasmine wanted to rip her apart. Couldn't she see that he was uncomfortable with her looking at him like she wanted to drag him to her room?

"I don't attend banquets that don't interest me." Dairon answered indifferently.

"Of course. Who is this?" The goddess could no longer ignore Jasmine's glare. She looked up with her suspicious, green eyes.

"My partner, Jasmine." He pulled his arm out of the goddess's grip to introduce them. "Jas, this is Marina."

Marina frowned at his mention of a partner. "But you…"

"You heard him, so stop pressing your tits against his arm. It's disgusting." Jasmine pulled Dairon's arm away before the goddess could grab it.

Jasmine glared at him when Marina was out of sight.

"What?" He feigned oblivion.

"Aren't you upset? I ruined it for you. Little Miss Marina looked like she wanted to strip her clothes off for you. You could have gotten lucky."

He burst into laughter. "Are you jealous?"

"Nonsense! You looked uncomfortable so I was helping you out." She denied the claim.

He smiled. "If you say so. But just so you know, I would never have anything to do with her."

They were still speaking when the god she hoped to not see walked to them with a smile. "You finally arrived. I was starting to think you wouldn't come." Blaze gave a giant smile.

She smiled modestly. "It didn't seem to me like I had any choice."

He ignored her remark and spoke to Dairon. "For the opening dance, I would like to have Jasmine as my dancing partner."

Dairon held her closer in a protective stance. "I don't know about that. Will Goddess Lolanthe like the idea of her husband swarming around another female incessantly and dancing with her first?" He had a look that scolded Blaze. Damned firefly.

"Just so you know, I am Jasmine's father. What is wrong with dancing with my daughter? And of course, Lolanthe will be happy about it. My daughter is her daughter too." His eyes shot daggers at Dairon. Stupid fish.

Without waiting for the latter to respond, he smiled at Jasmine." By the way, my offer still stands."

She knew he was talking about the offer to put up at his castle during her training period. She awkwardly tittered, desperate to get these two to stop arguing. "About that. I have not changed my mind about living on the island."

Dairon pulled her away from Blaze before she could be brainwashed with what would probably be a mouthful of lies. "I'll take you to meet King Rian." He led her upstairs. The guards lifted their swords to let them pass. Dairon must have frequented the castle for them to recognize him.

When Dairon knocked on the door to his chambers, Rian seemed to know who it was even before he let them in. "Dairon, what brings you here?" He asked and opened the golden doors.

"Oh. The troublesome little demigoddess is back." His face scrunched with a slight frown as he faced her. "You know, if I knew that your soul was still alive back then, I would have had it annihilated. But I'm glad I didn't know. Because you were reborn for a reason and I can feel that it's not a trivial reason."

She sighed in relief after being made to go through a mental roller coaster. "I'm sorry about the decisions I made in the past." She apologized.

"You were young. Which young deity doesn't make mistakes?" He looked at Dairon briefly, his frown deepening. He had to pay for the mistakes that his parents made when they were young. Luckily, he was strong enough and didn't give up.

"I will introduce you in a few minutes. After that, you will get to confirm your element. Are you ready?" He asked.

"Yes." She nodded. Her element was already obvious so there was nothing to be scared of. There was no suspense so she would just go with the flow.

She held Dairon's arm until Rian called her to the stage. She was not afraid of crowds, having faced many of them before. It just felt different with all the deities giving her curious looks and watching every step she took as though it would help them figure her out.

Just as Blaze predicted, almost everyone had forgotten about Gessamine—even with her portrait on the wall of the Academy. Rian didn't delve into too much detail, merely saying that she was lost to the human world and had been rescued back by a water demigod.

Finally, it was time to confirm her element. Twelve scepters floated in a large circle around her, with the symbols of their elements drawn on the staff. She could only guess about six majorly because they were obvious.

"Go on." Rian urged under what felt like a hundred eyes. "Hold every scepter for about three seconds. If it corresponds to your element, the crystal ball at the top will light up."

She had imagined having to swim through a raging sea or dodging countless swords so this was a relief. She wondered which to try first, and reached for the scepter whose symbol looked like a drop of water.
