"Let go of me!" She growled.

"Okay." He loosened his arms that were holding her. Just when she was about to roll back to her side of the bed, he pulled her back into his embrace.

She was on the verge of exploding. "Hey!"

"I did let go of you." He chuckled and secured her in his arms, caressing her hair while ignoring her rage.

"Are you hungry? I will go get you something to eat." He offered.

"No."

"Are you mad at me?" He pried.

"No."

Her monotonous replies stated otherwise. She was indeed mad at him. Did he take it too far? "Are you bored?" He asked.

He knew she was glaring at him although he could not clearly see her expression in the dark. He smiled and let go of her. "Okay, I'll leave you alone."

She rolled to her side of the bed and curled in the cover, trying to ignore his presence.

While he didn't speak in fear of upsetting her more, he listened to her heartbeat closely. She was getting angrier by the second even though he had let go of her. He took a breath and was about to apologize when she spoke first.

"I don't want to do that kind of thing because I do not have a choice." She stated.

It took a few seconds for him to process her words and understand their meaning. Her fingers gripped the cover tightly to her chest. "I just remembered some of those times that I would overhear married women talk about it."

He frowned. He wasn't certain that they were on the same page so he probed. "What did they say?"

Her voice was shaky and although he could not see her face clearly, he guessed that it was red as she talked about it. "They said that it hurts a lot more if you don't want to, but your husband forces you to do it anyway."

"What?" That was not what he thought she was going to say.

She remained silent, letting him take in what she had just said. He didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "Did you think I was going to take you?"

She was so embarrassed that she didn't dare to turn and face him. "You had us stay in the same room and took off your shirt so…"

She couldn't complete her statement but he understood her. "So you thought that I would force you."

He heard the soft cracking of her knuckles. He had noticed that she often did that when she was nervous. He slid out of bed and turned on one of the lamps then used the light to see her flustered expression. "Look at me, flower."

Her lips trembled but she looked up at him as he sat on the bed.

"We started off on the wrong foot. I selfishly forced you to live with me and didn't give you much choice regarding our relationship...and I'm sorry."

His words caught her off guard. She sat up to look at him as he continued, "But I want you to know that I would never force myself onto you."

She nodded and looked away from him. Although his words reassured her, he was not wearing a shirt and the last thing she wanted was to be caught looking at his body.

A grin surfaced on his lips when he remembered the exact words she had said, which she had heard from married women. "Those women were either exaggerating or the men in Efinchil are scumbags. I'm more inclined to believe that it's the men who are scumbags." His last words were almost a growl, like he couldn't wait to kill them.

"What do you mean?" She asked without looking at him.

"It's not supposed to hurt. If a man knows what he is supposed to do, you should enjoy it."

Her face reddened when she realized what he was talking about.

"Stop talking about it." She was on the verge of dying from shame. Did all demigods have such unfiltered mouths or was Dairon just too shameless?

He chuckled and dropped the topic, but not before making it his business to let her know that he knew what to do to please her in bed.

"Most of the men in our country are uncaring." She sighed when she thought about the plight of her married friends. It was one of the reasons why marriage didn't appeal to her.

"Tell me about it." He agreed. "They were much worse hundreds of years ago. Back then, wives were almost equivalent to slaves."

The words made her shocked for a moment then she looked at him. "You were in the realm of immortals for most of your life, though."

"My father was abusive." He revealed.

"I'm sorry." She searched his eyes.

They were clear, as though he was not affected in the slightest. "It didn't apply to us. We were boys. He would ignore me and deprive me of the fatherly love I craved but he didn't treat me half as badly as he treated my mother."

She couldn't help feeling bad for his mother. She was not his biological mother and didn't love him but she didn't deserve it.

She let out a breath. "Luckily, things have changed in this era. There are men who treat their wives like treasures."

"Like Harry." He pointed out.

"I was thinking about Lord Blaze but how do you know that my father treats my mother well?" She cocked her head to the side.

"They look as in love as any couple could ever be. There is no way you can bear to hurt someone you love."

"That's true." She smiled. "If I ever have a daughter, I will not let her marry unless the man she is marrying loves her."

"Hey, slow down." He teased.

"Huh?"

"You are not even married yet but you are thinking about what a strict mother you will be when it comes to your daughter's romance life? What if we end up having sons instead?"

"Uh…" His words sounded so wrong.

He stopped teasing her and let her go to sleep. With the promise that he would not force her into anything she didn't want to do, she slept peacefully and only woke up when the rays of the sun hit her face in the morning.

"Good morning, flower." He was supporting himself using his arm as he gazed down at her.

"Did you sleep?" She asked, because he was awake when she went to sleep.

"I did, but it's less interesting to dream about you than it is to gaze at you as you sleep."

"You are full of crap." She pulled away from him with a flushed face and went to wash up. When she returned, he had brought breakfast which she devoured before getting ready to resume their adventure.

He watched her and apologized when she was done eating. "I'm sorry but we have to change our plans."

"Why?" She asked.

"King Rian plans to tour the Wandering Islands today. We cannot be there at the same time or we run the risk of getting caught."

It was a bummer but she nodded. "We can tour the other islands instead or go swimming." She wanted to bite off her tongue as soon as she suggested it. She just had to say that. Gah!

"Now, I wouldn't want to miss out on that." He licked the corner of his lips. "But to be safe, I would like to call a raincheck. I can't promise to keep my hands to myself when I see you in the water, probably wearing almost nothing."

She bit the inside of her lower lip. "I wouldn't want to risk that either."

"I'm a little disappointed but I had another destination in mind."

Efinchil was the last place she could imagine being the said destination that he had in mind. He had checked out of the room and teleported them to a house that was unfamiliar.

"Where is this place?" She looked around at the ancient walls.

"This is where I grew up." He led her towards the staircase.

She was awed by the fact that the house still looked to be in good condition despite being so old. Looking at the walls, she saw a portrait similar to the family portrait in his gallery. She walked over and inspected it, particularly staring at the little boy with silver hair.

"You were so adorable as a child."

He smiled gently behind her. "If you continue praising my past self and ignoring the current me, I will start to get jealous."

She turned and gave him a look. "Only a crazy person would be jealous of themselves."

"It's your fault for driving me crazy." He threw the blame back at her and she ignored him.

"Do you want to see my room?"

"Of course." She was curious to know what kind of room the little Dairon would like.

He led her to the bedroom farthest from the door, which had a beautiful clear view of the sea.
