"Nana…" Jasmine wrapped her arms around her emotionally.

The elderly lady sniffed and dabbed at her eyes while trying to fight her tears. "My Vivi didn't make it."

"I'm so sorry." Jasmine pressed Nana's head against her chest.

"It's not entirely your fault. You couldn't have saved Vivi." The elderly lady sniffed.

Entirely.

One word was all it took to make her feel guitier. So it was partially her fault. She knew that she couldn't be blamed for something caused by nature but that didn't mean she had never blamed herself. If she had adamantly insisted on not going diving, the tragedy would not have happened. But hearing the words of Nana, she knew that Nana blamed her too.

"She didn't make it." Nana sobbed.

"Where is her…" Jasmine couldn't bring herself to say the word 'grave' while linking it with Vivian. Tears fell from her eyes uncontrollably.

"The cemetery in the North-West." answered Nana.

When Jasmine stated that she wanted to go to the cemetery, Nana had her wait and brought an envelope which she handed to her.

"She wrote this in the past. I'm sure she would want you to have it."

"Thank you." She muttered through a forced smile. Dairon pulled her over and wiped her tears.

"Dairon." Nana called. When Dairon turned, she cupped his face with her wrinkled hands. "She is a beautiful and kind woman."

He nodded wordlessly and held Jasmine's back as they left the house.

He held the shoulders of Jasmine who had lost the last string of hope for Vivian being alive. She was holding onto the daffodils reluctantly. She was still in denial.

His touch pulled her out of the thoughts. She took a deep breath and placed the small bouquet on the gravestone. "Vivi, I know this is not exactly what you would like. Yellow isn't one of your favorite colors. I chose this because I know that rebirth exists. I'm…" She let out a breath. "It happened to me. You were right about so many things and I didn't get to tell you that. I wish I could see the satisfaction on your face when you would taunt me about being wrong yet again. But I don't detest fate for separating us this way. I just hope you will come back." She closed her eyes, sending a bout of tears gushing out of her eyes.

Was she being greedy by wishing that Vivian would be reborn and that they would be reunited? She had a sudden thought and was still considering the possibilities when Dairon's hand that was holding her shoulder patted her. "She is not here."

"Huh?" She turned her head to look at him with teary eyes.

"The grave is empty. She is not here." He explained.

She cocked her head as she thought about it. In the end, she nodded. "Okay."

It must be because they couldn't find her body that they decided to bury an empty coffin. Either that, or Nana blamed her and didn't want her to know where Vivian was really buried. But there was no reason for a fake grave so she was more inclined to believe that they couldn't get Vivian's body.

"Let's go back. Mother will be worried otherwise." She turned to leave and he followed her.

When she entered the house, Harry took one look and immediately guessed why her eyes looked dull. He pulled her into a hug and suggested that they all go to the garden. "Your mother baked cookies too. Would you like me to bring you some?" He offered.

She was yet to answer him when he instructed a maid to bring them over. He completely ignored Dairon and Dahlia as he coaxed his eldest daughter to munch on the cookies.

She glanced at Dairon over Harry's shoulder, who was deliberately blocking her view of the demigod. He was being so childish that she wanted to laugh out loud.

"Dairon, have some cookies." She invited him, much to Harry's chagrin who looked like his treasure was being stolen.

"So you really are her boyfriend then." Dahlia muttered to Dairon who was munching a cookie beside her.

"Still trying." He stated, though he had not forgotten about the venomous idea.

Dahlia felt wronged. "Why are you looking at me like I gave you a bad idea?"

"Didn't you?" Dairon raised an eyebrow at her.

"No. I was helping you out." She was defensive.

"By making me scare the crap out of her." He chortled.

She glanced at Jasmine to make sure she was distracted and whispered, "If she is scared, she will run to you. You can be her hero. But if she knew that you were aware of her fear, she would not trust you. She would hate you instead. Don't think that I like you. I just prefer you to her other suitors." She huffed.

He threw his head back and laughed. So that was what the girl had in mind. She was indeed way smarter than she should be.

"Don't think about matters beyond your age. How about you play with your dolls instead?" He teased.

She sulked in embarrassment. "I don't play with dolls anymore. I'm a big girl."

"Is that so?" He was having fun teasing her. "Jasmine said my sand castle couldn't house your dolls. Are you sure you don't have any?" When he saw her face redden, he couldn't help patting her head. "Don't worry. It's nothing to be ashamed about and I won't tell anyone."

"Promise?" She stuck out her pinky finger. He crossed it with his own pinky. Relieved, she hugged him and kissed his cheek. He returned the kiss on her forehead which earned him a gentle smile.

Jasmine's heart melted as she watched them. He didn't know Dairon was so good with kids.

Sophie soon joined them in the garden with the cake and drinks and placed them on the foldable table.

Seeing how gloomy she looked, Sophie avoided talking about Vivian.

"Mama, did you know about Vivi?" Jasmine asked out of the blue. The cup in Sophie's hand slipped and fell, shattering against the pavement.

"Is something wrong?" She asked. She had not expected such a reaction.

Sophie shook her head as she bent to pick up the shards. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I was afraid you'd be upset."

Jasmine looked at her for a while and nodded in the end, then she brought a dustpan and broom to help her clean up.

When Sophie went to the kitchen to bring another cup, Jasmine arrived at the same time to dispose of the shards. She pulled her daughter's hand and pushed her against the wall while motioning for her to keep quiet. She nodded and watched Sophie check to ensure that they were on their own.

"You are not safe there." She spoke.

"Huh?"

"Someone is after you… she will probably want to kill you." She explained her conversation with the goddess the last time she was here.

Jasmine gritted her teeth when she heard about it. "That must be Scarlet. But how did you and her know each other?"

"She has been coming to me ever since you were born the second time." Sophie admitted. "I sought her help a few times when your power suddenly threatened to surface."

"That's why I don't remember having it in my second life." the puzzle finally fell into place. She had been wondering why it only happened during her stay on Dairon's Island.

Sophie felt bad for what she had done over the years. "She is the one who told me that I could put you to sleep by rubbing up your spine and chanting some mantra. Every time you woke up, everyone would forget what happened except me." She confessed.

Jasmine frowned. "And how did you know that she wanted to hurt me?"

"She wanted me to burn your feather." Sophie sighed. "You died by burning your wings in your past life. Your body definitely remembers it. If I were to burn your feather, you would definitely get hurt."

Jasmine thought about it and asked, "Where is it?"

"Huh?" Sophie asked before she comprehended her question. "Ah, the feather. I gave it to Lord Blaze after you died."

"That's how he knows that I gave it to you." She nodded. "Thanks for telling me."

"I already owe you a lot for keeping the truth from you all these years. I'm sorry, dear." She hugged her.

Jasmine wrapped her arms around her mother. "I understand why you did that. You didn't want me to have to leave again and definitely didn't want me to go through what happened twenty-seven years ago all over again. It doesn't make what you did right but I forgive you."

"Thank you, dear." She let out a sigh of relief and pulled out of the hug.

"If you don't feel safe in the real of immortals or if you don't want to be a demigoddess anymore, you can always come back home." She held both of Jasmine's hands in hers.

"I know, mama. I'm doing well."

Sophie caressed her face. "We should go back before your father gets suspicious and thinks I'm trying to snag all of his precious daughter's attention."

They both chuckled and went back to the garden, where Dairon was being grilled by the father-daughter team.
