"What are the two of you up to?" She asked Dahlia and Harry, who sat up straight when they saw her.
"Nothing!" They said in unison.
She turned and exchanged a knowing look with Sophie, who shrugged with a slight chuckle. They knew better than to believe anything that came out of Dahlia's and Harry's mouths when they spoke in unison. It was the most glaring indicator that they were up to some sort of mischief and had been caught in the act. Seeing how relieved Dairon looked to see her and Sophie, she knew that this time was no different.
She laughed as she sat down between Dahlia and Dairon. "What did the two of you do to him?"
"It was papa!" Dahlia sold out her teammate without flinching.
"Me? What did I do?" Harry feigned ignorance.
"You tried to make him feel at home. Isn't that a good thing?" Dahlia made up some crap she had just come up with, but Jasmine believed none of it.
She turned her head to Dairon. "Remember that cute dress I've been working on? I've been wondering who to give it to. Do you know any little girls that would look good wearing it?"
"It was my fault too. I supported papa when he said that Dairon had to pass a thousand tests before he could gain our approval." For a nonexistent dress, she sold her father out and pushed herself into the eye of the storm while at it.
Jasmine didn't know what to say.
"What kind of tests?" She was suddenly curious.
"Swimming along with the sharks. Literally." Dahlia stuck the tips of her forefingers together shyly. "We also asked him dozens of questions about you including the really tiny details to know how much attention he pays to you."
Jasmine raised an eyebrow. Just that? Not only could Dairon swim with the sharks, but he could also communicate with them and bring them home as pets. As for answering random questions about her, he could get those right by reading their minds. She wanted to laugh at them for wasting their effort. She pinched Dahlia's ear slightly. "Papa is overthinking things. Don't go crazy along with him."
"Mama, Jasmine pinched me again." She pouted as a way to change the topic swiftly. It worked, because Sophie glared at Jasmine in warning.
Once they were done having tea, Jasmine and Dairon teleported back to the realm of immortals. She felt a wave of exhaustion as soon as they materialized into his library.
"Is it too late for my training?" She steadied herself as she asked.
"I talked to Sinos about it. You can skip it today and do double time tomorrow." He headed for the door.
"I'll see you later. I have something to do now." He explained and left without waiting for her response.
He was in a hurry to be away from her. It couldn't be helped after what had happened at the seaside, but that didn't mean she didn't feel sad about it. She let out a breath and decided to read a few books instead.
Although Alaina couldn't set foot on Dairon's island, she sent her a letter through the same blue bird that had delayed Blaze's message a few days ago. She saw the date that the letter had been written and was pleasantly surprised. "So you can actually keep time."
For some strange reason, it felt as though the bird understood her. She chuckled and read the contents. It turned out, Marina had brought her tea party forward and had decided to hold it the next afternoon. Alaina had added a small note to speculate that it must be because the water goddess had heard about her and Dairon disappearing together. Rumor had started spreading about them going out for fun. While they did go for fun together, she slapped her forehead at Marina's reason for rushing her plans. Was she so desperate to try and bully her?
"If you think I'm a pushover, you have another thing coming for you." She grinned. Checking around the library, she found a quill and ink but it was hectic to use. She had smudges of ink before she could manage to write a few words and ended up using charcoal instead. She would bring pens and pencils the next time she snuck to the human realm. She glanced at the third attempt of her letter and decided that it was readable. She rolled up the scroll and placed it in the bird's claws. "Send this to Alaina." Surprisingly, the bird took off immediately. So it did understand her.
Dairon returned just as the bird flew out of the window. He glanced at it then at her hands. "Were you swimming in ink?"
"I was. Can you believe it?" She shot him an odd gaze. "Do you plan to go to Marina's tea party?"

"Who is Marina?" He asked jokingly and looked like he had just remembered who she was talking about. "Ah, she is the goddess who you think wants to strip her clothes for me."
"She does, though." Her face reddened. Was that the first thing he remembered about her?
"And what do you think of that?" He had the guts to ask.
"Are you attending or not?" She knew that he was asking whether or not she was jealous. She knew that she was but didn't want to give the wrong message.
"I will. But that's only because you are going."
"You are kidding me." She chortled. He wasn't. It was only when he held her hand and teleported them to Marina's garden the following afternoon that she believed him. He really meant it.
Marina's garden was a beautiful assortment of pale colors. Everything looked delicate and beautiful. She must have planned this for a long time. She was sitting at the head of the oval-shaped table and had the attention of all the males present.
Why did she need Dairon? She already had so many gods fawning over her. One of them was even massaging and kissing her fingers!
"Dairon!" Of course, she ignored all the males around her and rushed to Dairon as soon as she saw him—ignoring Jasmine who was beside him. She looked up at him coquettishly. "You came. I was starting to worry that you would stand me up again."
"I accompanied Jasmine." He pulled his hand out of her grip and wrapped it around Jasmine's shoulders. Only three words and they were able to make her flush in embarrassment. He had directly let everyone know that he was not here for Marina and only came because he couldn't let Jasmine be on her own.
The goddess gritted her teeth but showed Dairon to the seat beside her. He ignored the invitation and accompanied Jasmine to a few seats farther, where Alaina was waving at her. Marina glared at Jasmine and didn't even try to hide it.
"Help yourselves. There is still one god who is yet to arrive." Marina faked a smile. As if on cue, someone landed near the table.
"I'm sorry we were late." Sinos apologized, but he was not on his own. He was holding the hand of a pretty demigoddess.
Jasmine's brows furrowed. There was only one seat left—the one next to Marina. What was this b*tch planning?
"You came with Pearl. I thought you wouldn't be able to convince her." Marina exaggerated her flattery, to which Sinos merely grunted. He didn't have any particular interest in Pearl and had only come here because he could meet Jasmine and bug her for new outfits.
Marina glanced at the only seat beside her and beckoned at Sinos. "Come, sit beside me. Pearl, you…" She paused and shifted her gaze between Jasmine and Pearl before settling her gaze at the latter. "I'm sorry. Someone came without being invited. Jasmine, could you move for Pearl to take that seat?"
"What do you mean by that?" Alaina was the first to react.
"She is an earth demigoddess, right? She can create her own seat out of thin air or rocks." Marina smirked.
Dairon stood before Jasmine did. Before he could say a word, she smiled at him to imply that this was her battle field. He nodded. "I'll pick you up in about an hour. I'll have a word with Sinos."
Marina seemed to have predicted that Dairon would do that, she smiled in triumph once the two left. She planted her elbows on the table and glared at Jasmine.
"One thing you must learn is to have self awareness, Jasmine. What do you think you are wearing?"
"A dress." Jasmine looked down at her crimson dress with a shrug. "What do you think is wrong with it, Goddess Marina?"
"Only a lowly human would think that is something worth wearing." She scoffed. "We all understand that you spent all your life in some dumps in the human realm and had a pair of mice for parents but since you are here, you should try to fit in. This is an embarrassment to Dairon and me."
