"Why did you do that?" Jasmine asked as they left the academy, not understanding why Lolanthe would act that way around Sinos. It was almost as though she held a deep grudge against him and was trying to battle it out without going on a physical war. It definitely had nothing to do with the jewels he won from Blaze.

Lolanthe glanced at the door they had just walked out of and shrugged. "I hate gods who mess around with earth goddesses."

"Did he flirt with a…"

"That's not something you should be wondering about." She teleported them to a backyard. "But if it sets your heart at peace, he ravished her." She gritted her teeth. If it were up to her, she would have killed Sinos.

Jasmine's face paled with shock. She reflexively shook her head. "Sinos would never do that."

Lolanthe looked annoyed. "You asked me and when I tell you why I was glaring at him, you tell me that kind of crap?"

Knowing that it was a delicate topic, Jasmine carefully suggested, "Why don't you hold a trial? If he did that kind of thing, he deserves to be punished."

Lolanthe shrugged. "That's what King Rian decided. It's not like I can do anything about it on my own."

Jasmine was relieved that there was a trial. She believed that although Sinos was overly playful and liked to flirt with pretty goddesses, he wouldn't cross the lines.

"Do you know the answer to the riddle?" Lolanthe asked to get rid of the discussion about the undesirable topic.

Jasmine shook her head. "I'm certain that the right answer is not Dairon either. What's the answer?"

Lolanthe giggled. "My dear, do you really think I would be sane if I told that to the trainee of the god I gave the riddle to?"

Fair enough. "I'll ask you when you settle it with him." She blindly followed Lolanthe until she realized that they were entering a castle. "Hold on. Are we having lunch in your castle?"

Lolanthe nodded joyously but she knew why Jasmine was so cautious about it. "Don't worry. Blaze and I don't live in the same castle."

Jasmine was relieved. The duo walked side by side down the long corridors and entered the large dining room with a grand table that was long enough to hold a feast. She would have admired it if she didn't see the god sitting at the head of the table.

"You lied to me." She unhappily looked at Lolanthe who was nudging her forward.

The latter laughed. "My dear, I said that Blaze and I live in different castles. I didn't say anything about not having lunch with him and our son."

Jasmine frowned. She had been tricked! And she fell for it like a fool. The door closed and Lolanthe skipped over to her husband to sit beside him.

"Good job, my love." Blaze pecked her lips, making Jasmine want to close her eyes as she sat down next to Bardumond.

Blaze looked at her as he served food for his wife. "Jasmine, I will say this again. I don't mean any harm. I just want to be a good father."

"How about you start by adopting someone who is willing to be your daughter?" She was rendered speechless. Who would have thought that forceful adoption was a thing in this realm?

Lolanthe poured her husband a glass of juice as she winked at Jasmine. "We only feel an affinity with you. Right, Blazey?"

"Of course, beautiful." Blaze agreed with her. They should remember that they were not the only ones at the table. As if Jasmine, Bardumond and the servants waiting to be at their beck and call were invisible, Blaze took out a diamond box from his pocket. "Right. I found something as beautiful as you."

Lolanthe opened it to reveal a sparkling ruby ring with a matching bracelet. She happily let him place them on her hand and looked at him lovingly. "Oh husband."

"Ignore them." Bardumond chuckled at Jasmine who looked like she wanted to disappear into the soup in her bowl. "They are still in their most romantic phase. I don't think they will ever outgrow it."

"They will never outgrow it." Jasmine chuckled along.

After watching the couple fight over who loved the other more, Bardumond suggested to show Jasmine around the castle. She was happy to go. Anything to leave the sight of that forceful father and not have to watch them display their love.

Bardumond walked her down a long corridor. "This was mother's castle in the past while father's was the one on the left. They were later merged into one by a library."

"Wow." She couldn't wait to get to the library.

"You love reading, don't you? We should check it out." He led her to the end of the east side of the castle. The library was larger than she expected and looked even bigger when they entered it. There were what she felt must be hundreds of shelves and they all had books stacked fully. She wondered who read all of them. She wouldn't mind joining them once in a while.

"There are so many books...and they look precious." She ran her fingers along the golden spine of the book closest to her. "Everything here looks like it would cost an entire realm."

"Mother loves reading." He explained. "Father adds all the books he can find and customizes every piece to suit her tastes."

"He treasures her so much." She observed, and he nodded.

"She is equivalent to a princess."

She knew that he meant it literally which surprised her. There was only one king in this realm. "Lord Blaze is King Rian's son?!"

He chuckled, having expected that to be her guess. "It's the other way round."

"Goddess Lolanthe is King Rian's daughter?!" Her eyes widened.

"Yes."

"I didn't ever imagine it." Though she had to agree that it made sense. No wonder King Rian looked close to Lolanthe.

While thinking about their close relationship, she recalled something that Lolanthe mentioned on the bridge. The goddess that was closest to King Rian's heart.

At the time, she thought that it was King Rian's mate. But now that she thought about it, what if that goddess was his granddaughter? Lolanthe's daughter would be…

"Bardumond, can I ask something completely unrelated?" She spoke before she could stop herself. She was still lost in the realization that the said goddess was dear to more people than she thought after hearing mentions of her a few times.

"Go ahead." Bardumond stopped to listen to her.

"Uhm… never mind." She flashed an awkward smile. How could she ask about that goddess? She was Bardumond's sister.

"You can ask me anything." He encouraged her, guessing what had piqued her curiosity. When she shook her head and was preparing to apologize, he raised an eyebrow. "You want to ask about Catalyah, don't you?"

She was both surprised and relieved. Relieved that he didn't look pained like she would expect.

Catalyah. She was certain that she had heard this name a few times before, which made her even more curious. She nodded." Yes. It sounds like… she was quite popular."

Bardumond pulled out a book with a black cover and a red feather at the centre of the front cover, rubbed its cover as he answered her question. "She was King Rian's first granddaughter." He paused, explaining why that was shocking. "Goddesses belong to their husbands after their marriage. Despite this, King Rian loves mother so much that he acknowledged her eldest daughter as his granddaughter. He doted on her so much that everyone unanimously guessed that she would be his successor.

Popular isn't the word I would use. She was just a bit too friendly."

Jasmine regretted asking, hearing how sad Bardumond sounded. She placed a hand on his shoulder. "You don't have to." It was only now that she recalled that Alaina had promised to tell her everything she was curious about. She should have waited and asked Alaina, instead of scraping open Bardumond's scar.

He shook his head and continued, "If you ask me, I was strongly against how she treated everyone. She firmly believed that everyone had a good side to them and that included demons and monsters. It was one of the reasons why everyone felt she would make a good queen but also why I advised her against it. She made some decisions that were so selfless that they hurt her." He sighed.

"You already know that she is no longer with us."

"Yes."

"She died in the war and it had a lot to do with the fact that everyone thought she would be the queen of gods." He played with the book in his hand before giving it to her. "You can't expect her to be loved by everyone, of course. On the contrary, her nature attracted enemies with deep grudges."

"Does Scarlet have a hand in that?" She asked, recalling that according to Lolanthe, Scarlet became King Rian's apprentice when Catalyah died. It would make sense if Scarlet tried to kill Catalyah to get her out of her own way.

Bardumond looked disturbed. "She was too powerful. I don't know who was strong enough to kill her. But I do know that she was betrayed by our 'dearest' beloved sister, Narilia."
