King Rian mumbled something about water demigods being hard to deal with before he focused his gaze on Jasmine. She felt uncomfortable with the way he was eyeing her and only relaxed a little when she realized that he was scanning her body for possible injuries. He seemed to sigh in relief when he saw that there was only a slight scar, which was pretty much faded, on her leg. "I'm glad you are alright, Jasmine."

"Me too." She forced a smile. She still thought he was acting odd, especially towards Dairon.

"How has your training been?" He asked, and she knew what this was about almost immediately.

She maintained an indifferent expression. "It's alright."

He contemplated for a while before he nodded and looked like he was at a loss and did not like what had to be done either. "I will assign you another trainer."

"I don't think that's necessary. Lord Sinos is sufficient." She countered.

He was surprised that she had spoken up. But then again, this was Jasmine. It would be odd if she remained silent.

"I understand how you feel, Jasmine, but Sinos is a fugitive. I'm not going to let him go anywhere near females, especially not demigoddesses who barely have control over their power."

She crossed her arms. "With all due respect, Sinos is being framed."

"You cannot say without evidence unless you are trying to attract trouble." He warned subtly.

She glanced up at Dairon but bit her lip instead. She was about to ask if he knew where Sinos was on the day that he supposedly took advantage of a goddess. But if this was a scheme, then the mastermind must have planned out all the circumstances to match the claim.

"You cannot convict a god without evidence either and isn't that what you are trying to do?" Dairon narrowed his eyes.

"You cannot have a say in this. Let Jasmine say what she is trying to say." King Rian shut him before focusing his gaze back to Jasmine, who shifted in her seat slightly in discomfort. She could tell that this was not going to be easy.

"On one hand, the goddess gave evidence that Sinos tried to take advantage of her. He dropped his handkerchief in her chambers."

"It's just a handkerchief." She mumbled. "It could belong to anyone. Even if it is his, she could have stolen it from him as part of the plan."

King Rian nodded like she made sense. "However, Sinos was at her place that day and her servants saw him enter her Chambers." He explained.

"That could be part of the plan too." She was no longer too confident, knowing that the evidence might be too much for her to counter. But as long as it was all circumstantial, there had to be a loophole. So she tried her luck. "King Rian, if I were to tell you that my mother was in danger and you had the means to save her, would you go to my home or not?"

"I would." He knew what she was getting at but played along.

She smiled. That was the answer she had hoped for. "What if soon after you left my home, something happened to her? Who would be the suspect?"

"I would be."

His compliant responses made her exchange glances with Dairon beside her. He was getting at something. Was this a trap?

Deciding that she would only accept it if she hit a dead end which she couldn't get out of, she pushed. "But that would not mean you are the culprit, although it would be hard to prove your innocence. It might be the same case with Sinos. He might have been trapped by circumstances or a plot."

He stared at her for what felt like forever and then took out a scroll and a quill. "So what do you suggest that we do, Jas?"

"Huh?" His words caught her by surprise and she blinked a few times.

"Weren't you trying to seek justice for your trainer?" He looked amused.

She bit her bottom lip and thought on her toes. A ticking sound filled her mind, the kind that went off every time before she was sent into The Clock.

"Right! The Clock!" She sighed in relief after saying it out, since it was a plan that would definitely be successful. "We can get a deity of time to check the record of what happened on that day. It would be even better if everyone were to see it. That way, no one will ever talk about Lord Sinos doing something he didn't."

"What if it shows Sinos doing that?" He asked with a slight tease in his tone.

She took a deep breath. "So be it. If he really did it, then he deserves the consequences even if it includes being shunned for the rest of his life."

Seeing that she did not flinch, King Rian's lips curled into a smile. "You are a fair demigoddess, Jasmine."

She didn't want to talk about her fairness. Sinos' life was more important. Being banished to the underworld was no different from being killed. The demons would never let go of an opportunity to let their anger out on a fallen god.

"I already did that a few minutes before you came." He burst into laughter.

"What?" Jasmine frowned in displeasure. Then what was the meaning of the discussion they just had?

"I wanted to know how you would deal with that kind of matter if you were in my shoes. You are smart, as it turns out." He looked overjoyed as he wrote on the scroll. She wondered what he was writing. He looked up. "If it makes you feel better, the goddess will be banished to the underworld during the full moon."

"Since it is settled, Dairon and I will take our leave." She stood and took Dairon's hand.

King Rian. "Of course. But Sinos cannot be your trainer for the next one week because I'm sending him on a mission to the realm of mortals. How about you choose your own temporary trainer? You deserve it for your wits."

"I'll let you know once I decide." She didn't want to rush to choose, especially with the eyes around her lately.

They left King Rian's study hand in hand and had only made a few steps when Dairon let go of her hand. "Wait for me."

He left before she could say a word and sped back to King Rian's study.

"I was expecting you." The god was in the middle of pouring a multicolored liquid into his glass.

Dairon tapped his fingers against the latter's desk as if that could help him control his words. "Don't even think of making her your apprentice."

King Rian sipped his drink that was an assortment of colors before holding the bottle up. "Want some?" When Dairon frowned in disdain, he placed the bottle on the desk and scowled. "This is why I don't like her being so close to you. Can't I peacefully pick an apprentice?"

As if it was the response he had expected, Dairon's eyes darkened. "You ruined Catalyah. I will not let you ruin Jasmine."

When he left and banged the door behind him, King Rian let out a sigh. "I did not intend to ruin Catalyah's life."

...

Since she was yet to decide on a trainer, Jasmine spent the rest of her day in her room, reading the book that Bardumond gave her and taking notes.

Dairon found the sight comical when he brought her snacks. She was writing almost faster than it took to read, and it made one wonder whether she could actually understand a thing. As a result, everything she had written was a mess.

"What are you doing?" He asked as he placed the tray of snacks on her desk.

She looked up with a smile. "The book is enchanted. I don't think I can say the same about the information inside it."

He finally understood what she was doing. She was trying to copy the information as fast as she could, then she would read it later. Oddly, it seemed to be working. "You are sly. But aren't you scared that the book might disappear because you are trying to outsmart the spell?"

"Luckily, the grand Enchanted Library is nearby. I can get it back whenever I want." She stretched her limbs and thanked him for the snacks.

"I know just what you need." He disappeared and when he returned, he had a box of pens and pencils with him.

She looked at them then back at him in surprise. "How did you know I needed these?"

He smiled dotingly. She looked like she had been given the world when it was just a few pens. "I realized that you are not good with quills."

She shoved the piece of charcoal that she had been using aside, wiping her dirty palms with a hand towel she had prepared beforehand. "Charcoal isn't easy to use either. Thank you. My hands will love you."

"I love them too." He flirted.

Her face flushed as she picked a pen to use. She rolled it between her fingers and turned to look at him. "Why did you go to the human realm?"
