Jasmine relaxed and let Dairon push the swing. The rush of air against her face felt as good as the feeling of finally getting to flop onto her bed after a long day.

Her hands grasped the cold metal tightly and shut her eyes, barely hearing any other sound as her senses calmed. This must be a magical swing. Or maybe the man pushing it higher and higher was the magic. Whichever the case was, she forgot about everything around her and almost drifted to sleep.

Her eyes shot open as she tried to catch the giggles and chatter she had just heard. Just like an illusion, they were gone before she could grasp them.

"Are you alright?" He grabbed the seat when it swung back to him, glancing at her from her side.

"I think I was starting to dream." She slid off the swing, rubbing her nape. "I should get to work."

"I'll clean the garden. You can use the gazebo for now." He led her to the entrance of the gazebo—which was only a few steps away from the swing—and checked for any creatures that might scare the living daylights out of her. Finding none, he helped her settle in and left.

At first, she wasn't certain that Dairon's idea would work. There was a large clock in the gazebo and waiting for it to tick away the next second was almost torturing. She could kill time by mentally counting the seconds by immortal realm speed and determining the difference. She thought her speed would eventually slow down but to her surprise, she had finished all of Scarlet's books in half an hour.

Dairon had long finished trimming the flowers and was sitting on the swing, having stilled it. His head was buried in whatever he was drawing on the canvas that had somehow managed to escape her outburst earlier. A soft hum belted out of his mouth.

"What are you drawing?" She walked over to her and asked.

He reflexively turned the canvas so she wouldn't see a thing.

She didn't mind his reaction. "Then use an easel at least. Don't break your neck." She dashed behind him and placed her palms on his shoulder before she realized what she was doing. When she noticed the tiny hairs on the back of his head stand, she pretended to have been checking out the swing. "I'm pretty much done with Scarlet's books. I'll finish up the others then we can go back." She announced.

"Go ahead." He urged her, which surprised her. He was always trying to pin her to his side by all means. Why did it seem like he was dismissing her lately?

She yelped when she suddenly landed on his lap after being yanked by him. Her first instinct was to hold his shoulders for support.

His thumb traced her lips before he leaned down and kissed them gently. "Don't entice me like that. Otherwise, you will be extremely tired by the time we get back to the realm of immortals."

She was red in embarrassment as she hurried back to the gazebo. In the next few minutes, she rewrote the contents of the enchanted book and read the heap of other books that she had brought with her.

"Are you done?" He appeared at the entrance of the gazebo and asked.

"I was just packing up." She looked up at him.

"Do you want to take a nap before going back? You can take advantage of the slow time."

She chuckled at the fact that she had not thought about it. "I can't believe you kept such a treasure to yourself. I could only sleep for a few minutes here and I'll be refreshed enough to go through the rest of my day."

She looked awed as if she had just found a rare treasure. If she ever felt bored or pressured with deadlines, she would sneak back here for a few minutes.

After a short nap, they teleported back to the realm of immortals and she was shocked that the same amount of time had passed. One hour.

"Huh?" She looked at the clock in surprise. "How is it only an hour? I thought it would have amounted to five days at the very least. I was worried we had gone missing from this realm for long enough for everyone to be suspicious." She exaggerated.

He chuckled and tapped her nose. "If that were the case, what would be so special about the realm of sloths?"

She had to agree.

"Do you want to spend some time together by the sea since you have finished all you needed to do?" He suggested and didn't give her the chance to actually think about it before he grabbed her hand and led her out.

Having just come from the realm of sloths, she had forgotten that it was night in the realm of immortals. She was almost taken aback when she saw the full moon reflected in the calm sea.

She excitedly ran towards a bench that was facing the sea, which she was certain wasn't there before. She sat on it and waited until he sat down before she rested her head on his shoulder. He glanced down at her in pleasant surprise and wrapped his arm around her.

"Do you know what night tonight is?" He asked her.

She shook her head against his chest and looked up without tilting her head, only managing to see the side of his face under the dim light. "I don't. It's not your birthday, right?"

"It's the anniversary of Blaze's and Lolanthe's wedding." His hand snaked down her body to grasp her waist and she let him, chuckling at his words.

"Everyone around here has such a perfect memory. I don't even know my parents' anniversary!" She exaggerated, though she had always seemed to forget their anniversary although they had never stopped talking about their wedding.

Dairon's laugh filled the air. "That's only because of their identities. One is said to be the most powerful firefly who ever lived while the other is the daughter of the king. They have celebrated it annually for thousands of years."

"Well, happy anniversary to them." She laughed at how he had indirectly called Blaze a firefly.

She felt his eyes on her and tilted her head to look at him to probe. "What?"

"You're so beautiful." His free hand took hers and he entwined their fingers together. "I love you."

Her jaw dropped as she turned to glance at him. Her attention was caught by the sea when it lit up. In the distance, an enormous drop of water had gathered to form a heart. It was soon joined by a statement at its foot. She recognized her name at glance before sweeping her gaze over the other words. I love you, Jasmine."

She covered her mouth with her hands. "It's so beautiful! Thank you."

He kissed her temples as the sea broke into a gentle, soothing tune that lulled her to sleep.

She had never felt so eager to get to the academy. She woke up long before sunrise and spent the time designing the clothes she had promised Sinos a few days ago, before she got ready.

As usual, Dairon had long woken up and was waiting for her to have breakfast together. After last night, she couldn't stop herself from being a little awkward around him. They had been much closer than sitting in each other's arms. They had kissed a few times and even slept together.[1]

However, something seemed to have changed after last night. He had said that he loved her. She had mixed feelings.

"Can't tear your gaze off me? Am I too handsome?" He teased.

She quickly shook her head before nodding, then froze when she realized that she had just agreed that she couldn't tear her gaze away because he was handsome.

Fine. It wouldn't do her any harm to admit it. He was handsome, almost too handsome for his own good. Realizing that she was still staring at his face and inwardly lamenting about how displeased she was that it attracted all sorts of goddesses, she hurried to the dining table and masked her awkwardness by biting a piece of shortbread.

The familiar blue bird arrived halfway through their breakfast and landed on his shoulder, letting him pull the letter held tightly in its beak.

He was curious so he pushed aside his plate to make space and ripped the envelope open. He had just read the first two words when he looked at her over the letter. "The little fella seems to find it hard to tell us apart. It's for you."

"Me?" She stopped mid-sip and looked at him across the table in surprise. "Who is it from?"

"King Rian."

[1].... Literally slept together. They just slept and didn't do anything beyond her coiling to one edge of the bed only to wake up in a warm embrace.
